Cat accepted the food Su Li was feeding her.
Her former Pooper-Scooper used to feed her fruit as well.
Whenever Su Li fed her, it always reminded her of her previous life with her Pooper-Scooper.
‘Su Li is so, so much like my Pooper-Scooper!’
Cat watched as Su Li fed her a piece of watermelon.
As she leaned in, the tip of her nose brushed against the yogurt.
The moment her tongue curled around the spoon, her eyes narrowed into crescent moons.
Su Li smiled as she pressed the Blue Lotus berries into the yogurt one by one.
The purple crystal-like fruits sank into the snowy mound.
She picked out the roundest one and held it out. “This one will burst with juice.”
The moonlight shone into the room. Cat unconsciously followed the piece of cantaloupe Su Li was moving, her head swaying left and right.
Her pink hair brushed against the snowy white tips of Su Li’s hair.
When the last piece of banana covered in crushed nuts was fed into her mouth, Cat puffed out her cheeks and nuzzled Su Li’s fruit-scented palm.
Small droplets of yogurt, splashed up at some point, still clung to her eyelashes.
By the time Cat snapped out of it, she realized Su Li had already fed her quite a lot of fruit.
‘This won’t do!’
‘I can’t just let Su Li feed me!’
‘It was clearly the Fruit Medley I prepared for Su Li!’ Cat thought, as if cheering herself on.
Su Li had fed her many fruits she had never tasted before. While feeding her, Su Li had even specifically asked if she felt any discomfort after eating certain fruits.
Cat didn’t feel any at all. However, she was a bit confused and didn’t understand why Su Li would ask such a question.
But Cat didn’t ask further; she simply answered Su Li’s questions obediently.
‘She won’t hurt me. I just need to listen to her.’
“I, I’m already full,” Cat said hastily when she saw Su Li trying to feed her again.
Actually, she had already eaten a lot for dinner.
Because she wanted Su Li to spend less money, the two of them had eaten a great deal during the evening.
They had spent a long time eating nothing but leftover rice and side dishes.
Because she felt guilty and embarrassed, Cat had specifically eaten a very large amount.
Now, after the Fruit Medley Su Li fed her, she felt her little belly was a bit bulging.
‘I’ve never been this full before!’
‘Wait, that’s not right! I have!’
The last time she came to Su Li’s home, Su Li had fed her until she was stuffed.
Su Li seemed constantly afraid she might go hungry, though she didn’t know why.
She wasn’t stupid; she knew how to fill her own stomach.
“I want to feed Su Li fruit too,” Cat said, looking at Su Li with an embarrassed expression. She didn’t know if Su Li would agree to her request.
Su Li looked at Cat and nodded. She naturally wouldn’t refuse Cat’s request.
A happy smile appeared on Cat’s face, and she hurriedly looked at the plate of Fruit Medley in front of her.
“Su Li, Su Li, what do you like to eat?” She wanted to feed Su Li the fruits she liked best.
“Whatever Lielie feeds me, I’ll like it all,” Su Li said. Looking at the excited Lielie, she wanted to have some emotional interaction with her.
However, when she spoke, her voice lacked any fluctuation.
In the end, Su Li could only manage a professional fake smile.
To an outsider, her professional smile didn’t look much different from a real one.
She truly wanted to convey her happy feelings to Cat.
Cat blinked at her and began to pick up the fruits one by one with a skewer.
She placed her small hand under the skewer to catch any drips, moving the fruit toward Su Li’s mouth.
She thought that since the whole bowl of fruit would end up in Su Li’s mouth anyway, she might as well feed it to her one piece at a time.
This was Cat’s first time feeding someone human food, and she was very excited.
Although she was in a state of high spirits, her movements remained cautious, fearing she might accidentally poke Su Li with the skewer.
The Cat Hunter leaned close to Su Li and handed her a strawberry. Droplets of water still clung to the flesh of the fruit.
Su Li had just lowered her head to bite off half when another piece of cantaloupe was shakily poked toward her nose.
“Su Li, Su Li, this one is delicious!”
Cat’s hand, holding the skewer, waved back and forth in front of Su Li.
Two drops of juice from the orange piece dripped down and landed on the back of Su Li’s hand.
Su Li opened her mouth and took the orange, the sweet and sour juice exploding on her tongue.
Cat immediately used her thumb to wipe away the stain at the corner of Su Li’s mouth.
With her fingertip now smelling of orange, she went to poke a watermelon ball in the bowl.
The grapes were peeled unevenly. Lielie pinched the flesh and carefully removed the seeds before suddenly pressing the grape against Su Li’s lips. “You can lick it. It’s icy and very comfortable.”
The moonlight from outside the window illuminated the room. Lielie didn’t even notice a kiwi seed stuck to the tip of her nose.
She picked up a shaky cube of yogurt and insisted Su Li taste it first, but as soon as her hand dipped, it smeared all over the crook of her own thumb.
Embarrassed, she licked the spot on her hand, unwilling to let it go to waste. Noticing Su Li was watching her, the Cat Hunter gave Su Li a silly smile.
After she finished feeding Su Li the fruit, Lielie hurried to the kitchen with the plate and performed the washing ritual until it was clean.
Returning to the room, Lielie noticed Su Li was sitting on the sofa reading a book.
Her movements became much lighter as she sat down beside Su Li.
The Cat Hunter quietly surveyed the room, the little skirt she was wearing, and the Cat Hunter slippers covering her feet.
There were also the other Cat Hunters playing together.
Cat sank into the sofa and pressed her hand against the cushion. The soft sensation spread from her palm to the depths of her heart.
The moonlight flowed in through the window, making the glass fruit plate on the tea table sparkle.
She stared at the reflection of light on the plate for a while, lost in thought.
Cat’s fingertips unconsciously rubbed the sofa fabric. The fine fuzz made her fingers itch.
This texture reminded her of when she used to huddle in a cardboard box; the old sweater soaked by the rain had felt scratchy like this too.
She suddenly buried her face in a throw pillow and took a deep breath. The light scent of laundry detergent mixed with the smell of sun-dried fabric flooded her nose.
There was no longer the sound of raindrops pitter-pattering against the tin shack, nor could she hear the sharp hissing of wild cats fighting.
The sound of the wind outside the window was filtered by the double-paned glass until it was warm and soft, like the rice soup her Pooper-Scooper had fed her in her childhood.
Cat’s toes curled and uncurled inside her cotton slippers. The warmth from the floor heating spread upward from the soles of her feet.
Cat gazed at the star night light on the ceiling and suddenly reached out to grasp at the air.
As it turned out, she really didn’t have to worry about being woken up by rain in the middle of the night anymore, nor did she have to prick up her ears to listen for the movement of others on the street.
She curled deeper into the sofa, causing the fabric to make a soft creaking sound. Even now, it felt a bit unreal.
‘It feels like a dream.’
