When blueberries rolled into the gaps between mango pieces, she gently nudged them with a spoon. “This way, it looks nicer.”

Cat stared at her sprinkling oats into the bowl, then suddenly reached out to catch an almond that bounced away. “Is this like tucking a blanket over little saplings?”

She imitated Su Li, scattering crushed nuts like tiny stars, completely unaware that a bit of yogurt had gotten on the tip of her nose.

When the final two mint leaves landed on the edge of the bowl, Su Li turned the glass bowl toward the window.

Moonlight passed through the red dragon fruit, casting a faint pink glow over the yogurt.

Cat’s eyes lit up as she quietly reached out to touch a gently swaying berry.

Sometimes, Su Li felt that talking to Cat was like talking to a child.

But at other times, Cat seemed very mature. Perhaps it was her innocence that made her consider things from others’ perspectives, which gave her that maturity.

Cat carefully memorized the process of making the fruit medley. It wasn’t difficult—it felt like playing a game.

She tried to recall and vaguely remembered that her owner had made this for her before. But the chopping board had been too high, so she couldn’t see clearly.

Or maybe she had been busy with something else at the time and simply hadn’t noticed.

Making fruit medley together with Su Li was a very happy experience.

“Let’s eat together.”

Su Li took out two forks and two spoons, placing them into the bowl.

The thick, milky liquid coated the fruit as she scooped up a spoonful and offered it. “Try this. Is the mango sweet?”

Seeing it brought close, Cat obediently opened her mouth again.

“Wait…”

Her face flushed slightly as she said shyly,

“Strawberry…”

Su Li smiled and used a skewer to pick up a strawberry, placing it into Cat’s mouth.

“Apple.”

Then she picked up another piece of apple and fed it to her.

“More.”

Seeing Cat standing there obediently, Su Li fed her another piece.

Cat looked at her with watery eyes but didn’t dare resist.

For Su Li, it didn’t really matter what fruit she ate.

But it was different for Cat.

Cat had strong emotions—eating something delicious made her very happy.
