Su Li dragged her exhausted body back home.
Cleaning a girl’s body was still different from cleaning a boy’s.
For boys, it was usually just a quick wipe and pulling up the pants.
But she had already taken care of all that back when MOKA was writing the song.
The lights were off inside the house, and seeing everything dark somehow made her feel relieved.
If Chi Qingya had stayed out overnight, it meant she wouldn’t be picking a fight with her.
But Su Li quickly realized she was wrong.
Even in the dark, she could still make out the silhouette of someone sitting on the sofa, arms crossed.
Though she couldn’t clearly see her face or features, she could sense she was already in battle mode.
The moment Su Li stepped into the house, that shadowy figure’s gaze locked onto her.
Even the air around them began to feel chillingly tense.
“How many times has it been this month?”
“Do you even care about this family anymore?”
“When I woke up starving this morning, where the hell were you messing around?”
Su Li’s hand hovered over the light switch, but she didn’t turn it on.
Three questions came at her right away.
Her hand slowly slid down and rested behind her back again.
If she turned on the light now, a fourth question would surely follow.
“I made breakfast for you.”
Su Li spoke softly, her tone still calm.
She just wanted to end this conversation as quickly as possible.
Even though she knew, deep down, there was no way this would end anytime soon.
“When I got up, the breakfast was already cold. Just a lump of something on the table. Even if you fed that to a dog, the dog wouldn’t touch it.”
“Was that really for me? Or were you just trying to disgust me?”
“What, you’re pissed I didn’t text you back last night, so you used breakfast as an excuse to get back at me?”
Chi Qingya was now sitting up straight, and Su Li could feel the intense anger radiating from her.
“I left a note telling you how to reheat it.”
The room was still pitch black, but she had slowly adjusted to the darkness.
She could see that the breakfast on the table had already been completely eaten.
Some crumbs were still scattered on the floor, and the plates had been carelessly left on the table.
Didn’t she seem to enjoy it?
Then why insult her like a dog?
She knew Chi Qingya was really upset—otherwise, she wouldn’t say something like comparing herself to a dog.
But Su Li didn’t point that out.
She just kept thinking about when to finally turn the light on.
As the room grew quieter, Chi Qingya’s anger only built.
“Every time I talk to you, you just ignore it and put on that same damn expression.”
“What’s the point of talking to you? I might as well be talking to a machine.”
“You’re already home and you can’t even bother to turn on the light?”
“What, is the noble Miss Su waiting for her servant to do it for her?”
Chi Qingya said with biting sarcasm, staring in Su Li’s direction until Su Li finally turned on the light.
Having adjusted to the darkness, her eyes were suddenly stung by the bright light, bringing tears to the corners of her eyes.
“So it turns out Miss Su’s got so much resentment toward me in her heart that she wants to blind me with the light, huh?”
Seeing Su Li’s gaze fixed on her, Chi Qingya resisted the urge to rub her eyes, forcing herself to keep looking straight at Su Li, meeting her eyes.
She wasn’t about to back down.
“I didn’t.”
Su Li gave a simple reply, making no further move.
“You already ate?”
Chi Qingya asked with a touch of grievance in her voice.
Su Li had come back so late.
She must have eaten breakfast.
But what about lunch and dinner?
She was just a broke student with not a dime to her name.
No way she’d had anything to eat.
She could easily guess that Su Li had to work part-time over the weekend.
But how could just two days of work be enough to cover all her expenses?
Besides, after getting paid, Su Li still had to repay the tuition Chi Qingya had helped her cover.
That was exactly why Chi Qingya kept tight control over Su Li’s money—so she’d be left with nothing and have no choice but to rely on her.
“I already ate.”
Su Li said calmly. She just wanted to clean up the leftovers on the table and get some rest.
But Chi Qingya wasn’t done with her.
“Oh? So you made some money and snuck off to eat by yourself behind my back?”
“Even cats and dogs know to repay their owners after being fed. But some people, once they earn a bit of money, only think about themselves. They forget who gave them food and a place to stay in the first place.”
“I waited so long thinking you hadn’t eaten, even planned to wait and eat with you. Turns out you already helped yourself.”
“You’re just an ungrateful white-eyed wolf, Su Li. You don’t care about this home, and you never think about me.”
“Forget it. I’m not eating anymore. I’m already full from being angry.”
Chi Qingya said all this while giving Su Li a look, then walked straight into the kitchen.
She pulled out the snacks she had bought from the fridge and carried them back to her room.
Soon, the sounds of noisy video games came from behind the door.
Su Li could clearly feel how angry Chi Qingya was. One curse word after another flew from her mouth.
Even though Su Li had done her best to cover the bite marks on her neck and arms, if someone looked closely, they could still notice something.
Luckily, Chi Qingya never really looked at her.
She was always nitpicking and bossing her around, finding fault after fault, but never truly cared enough to notice what Su Li had been through.
So even if the marks on her neck were obvious, Chi Qingya wouldn’t give them a second glance.
Just one meeting with MOKA today had earned her 150,000 yuan.
That kind of income was something that usually came much later in her arrangement with Jin Ke’er.
Seeing the rising number in her payment app, she finally felt a bit of relief.
After a full day of effort, she was now one step closer to her goal.
She genuinely hoped MOKA’s songs would keep getting more popular.
That way, there’d be no risk of delayed payments or skipping out.
Of course, if MOKA ever skipped out once, their partnership would end immediately.
Just like her deal with Jin Ke’er had ended when the terms changed.
The stagnant water in the bathroom was icy cold, a clear sign that Chi Qingya had finished her shower a while ago.
The drain was already clogged solid with hair.
The good news was, there were faint urine stains in the toilet bowl—meaning Chi Qingya hadn’t peed directly on the floor.
The bad news: the toilet hadn’t been flushed, and she’d have to clean that up too.
And in a nearby basin, there were even more messy little toys than last time.
Chi Qingya was still the same girl as always—not the slightest bit changed.
