Chapter 14: The Curse That Only Sticking Together Allows Us to Survive

In the Assembly Hall, finally only the three of them remained.

Yisela was still vigorously tugging at her own clothes.

All of her usual arrogance was gone.

Only a bit of awkwardness remained, and a slightly embarrassed expression hung on her face.

Seraphina crouched down.

She reached out to wipe away the tears at the corners of her eyes.

She lowered her voice to an extremely gentle tone and said, “It’s okay now.”

Yisela pressed her lips together.

She looked up at Seraphina.

Her whole face wore an expression that was both aggrieved and grateful.

Her voice was tiny.

“Saint Sister, thank you!”

“You’ve always protected me like this.”

After saying that, she turned to look at Sylvanas.

Her entire cheeks flushed bright red.

Her eyes darted away for a long time before she finally forced out a sentence.

“Hey, Trash Elf, thanks for earlier too.”

The Elf Queen gave a light laugh upon hearing this.

She asked a question.

“Oh, didn’t you just say yourself that the punishment couldn’t be spared?”

As soon as Yisela heard this, she immediately became puffed up with anger.

She muttered a sentence.

“Then spare just a little bit!”

“Just a little bit!”

Though she sounded tough with her words, inside she was secretly thinking, ‘That Trash Elf is actually not bad, it’s just that her mouth is too annoying. Damn it.’

Right at that moment, her little dragon tail unconsciously gave a gentle sway.

Seraphina watched the interaction between the two.

She couldn’t help curving her lips into a light smile.

She reached out and took Yisela’s small hand.

She said, “Alright, let’s go back to the room now.”

“I’ll get you those freshly baked pastries.”

Yisela obediently nodded.

She followed Seraphina forward.

‘Being able to stay safely by Saint Sister’s side like this, occasionally bickering with the Trash Elf, is so much better than running around causing trouble like before.’

Just as the three of them were about to reach the hall’s entrance.

Yisela’s whole body suddenly froze.

Her little face instantly turned deathly pale.

Several black veins began to crawl up from her neck.

She let out a muffled groan.

Then her entire body fell straight toward the ground.

Seraphina’s expression changed instantly.

She quickly bent down to catch her.

Her Holy Light probed into Yisela’s body to check the situation.

Her expression turned grave.

Even the Temple Master’s Holy Light was useless.

This damn curse was starting to backlash.

Sylvanas quickly stepped forward.

She channeled her own natural force.

But she couldn’t even touch that cold cursed power.

Her brows knitted tightly together.

“This lousy curse, it can even devour Holy Light.”

At the same time.

In the shadows of a corner in the Council Hall.

A black figure silently appeared.

A pair of blood-red eyes.

Staring at Yisela lying on the ground.

The entire face smiled sinisterly.

Then it completely melted into that darkness and vanished.

“Hang in there, we’re almost there!”

Sylvanas kicked open the door to the bedchamber.

When she placed Yisela on the bed, her own fingers were still trembling uncontrollably.

She touched Yisela’s forehead with her fingertips.

It was as cold as a stone just pulled from ice water.

She gritted her teeth.

Her throat moved.

She cursed, “This damn curse! It was fine just a moment ago, why did it suddenly come on!”

“Seraphina, say something! Do you have a way or not!”

Seraphina was already kneeling by the bedside.

Her hands hovered above Yisela’s chest.

Holy Light surged from her palms.

Layer after layer covered the spreading black veins.

Her forehead was covered in cold sweat.

Her fingers shook violently.

She replied, “She held on too long in the Assembly Hall.”

“This curse only flares up during emotional fluctuations.”

“During that confrontation earlier, she kept herself tensed up the whole time.”

“Now that she relaxed, it…”

“Damn it, how did I not think of that.”

“Now is not the time for self-blame.”

The Elf Queen’s emerald green pupils reflected the small, curled-up figure on the bed.

Though her voice was lowered, she couldn’t suppress the restless anxiety threatening to spill over.

‘This kid better not be in trouble. I only just started thinking she wasn’t so annoying.’

Seraphina’s eyes instantly turned red.

But she didn’t let the tears fall.

She looked down at her trembling palms.

The Holy Light flickered dimly and brightly at her fingertips.

“Her Dragon God’s bloodline is still beating.”

“She’s still alive.”

After saying that, she tightly grasped Yisela’s ice-cold little hand.

Their fingers intertwined.

She slowly transferred the last bit of warmth left in her own body to her, bit by bit.

She said in a low voice, “I told you, I won’t let her die.”

Yisela’s eyelashes twitched slightly.

She frowned in her coma.

Her voice was extremely soft.

Seraphina pressed her ear close to her lips.

She held her breath.

There was only one word.

She remembered that just earlier today, this kid had stood in the Assembly Hall with her hands on her hips, using that trembling voice to shield her from all the spears.

And now she was curled up here.

All the warmth in her body was fading.

“Hold her.”

Seraphina looked up at Sylvanas.

“Hold her tighter.”

“Together.”

Sylvanas didn’t ask any questions.

She climbed onto the bed and pulled Yisela into her arms.

Her movements were lighter and more careful than she had expected.
