“You two, still slacking off?”
A lazy, middle-aged voice drifted from behind them. It was Old Wu, carrying his lesson plans in his arms.
Only then did Su Mumu realize that this class was actually taught by their homeroom teacher, Old Wu!
“Come on, I’ll take you in. I doubt anyone in the class even knows who you are,” Old Wu said.
Thus, Su Mumu and Jiang Mengxin followed him back to the classroom.
The underachievers class was at the very end of the hallway. As they drew closer, the noise from inside became more intense.
Su Mumu even heard what sounded like thunderous cheering — was someone fighting in a WWE match in there?
“Seriously, you brats! Class has started!” Old Wu pushed the door open and barked.
Yet, the classroom remained a scene of chaos.
If anything, the noise only grew louder.
Old Wu shook his head helplessly.
Jiang Mengxin stood at the doorway, stunned. She whispered, ‘Is this the underachievers class? It’s so… lawless.’
Su Mumu scanned the room. There were about thirty people inside, and she didn’t recognize a single one. Well, that made sense…
After all, she had only gone to the classroom on the first day of school, and even then, she had only reported in after school had ended.
She hadn’t stepped foot in the school since.
“Forget it, just come in with me,” Old Wu said as he stepped into the classroom.
Su Mumu and Jiang Mengxin followed him inside.
Almost instantly, a wave of whispers erupted.
“Hey! Look, two girls just arrived. They’re so pretty!”
“Wait, isn’t that Jiang Mengxin? The one from the elite class…”
“Who’s the one next to her?”
Old Wu stood on the podium, his gaze sharp as he scanned the room. He cleared his throat twice.
The classroom suddenly fell into a dead silence.
Not a sound was heard.
Old Wu was slightly startled but quickly figured it out.
“Everyone, we have two new friends joining us today. From now on, they are part of our class. Be kind to them. Bullying is strictly forbidden.”
“Alright!!! Welcome, cuties!” someone shouted, leading the charge.
“Do cuties want to go on a date? My Yasuo is amazing!”
“sadhjasdghja…@#@ Â¥ #…….”
By the end, it was impossible to tell what they were even yelling about.
The situation was spiraling out of control.
Old Wu calmly tapped on the blackboard, making several *thump thump* sounds, before speaking.
“Everyone, I might not be strict about your studies, but… you know my temper.”
“I’m only saying this once: do not harass these two girls! Especially you boys. If I catch any of you, I’ll report it immediately for expulsion!”
*Hiss!*
A collective gasp filled the room.
One could only say he was indeed a veteran who understood the core of the issue at a glance.
Old Wu turned back to the two girls and whispered, “Alright, having you two here adds some prestige to our underachievers class. Oh right, you two aren’t allowed to date the boys either, got it?”
Su Mumu curled her lip. “Old Fogey, do you think I’m blind or brain-dead?”
Old Wu froze. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I have Jiang Mengxin, don’t I?” Su Mumu giggled and grabbed Jiang Mengxin’s arm, causing the latter to jump in surprise.
“Hey, Mumu, don’t say such nonsense…” Jiang Mengxin’s cheeks suddenly flushed red.
“You two…?” Old Wu was stunned.
“I’ve got Xin Xin in the palm of my hand~” Su Mumu wore a triumphant expression. “Revenge successful~”
“Fine, I’ll remember this!” Jiang Mengxin pouted.
Old Wu was completely dumbfounded. He watched the two girls take their seats, unable to snap out of it.
Deep down, a strange emotion seemed to take root, spreading like wildfire.
‘Sigh, I really am getting old.’
‘The feelings between young girls… are so pure, so beautiful…’
It had to be said that class was incredibly boring.
It felt as if one’s brain was being continuously polluted.
Su Mumu was already leaning on her arms, snoring softly.
She couldn’t help it.
She hadn’t slept well the night before, and she had woken up early today…
As for Jiang Mengxin, her reason for slacking off was even simpler: these basic theories were just too easy.
She had already finished studying advanced material that went far beyond this in the elite class.
Topics like the steps to capture a demon: collecting information, making plans, creating backup plans, risk management, and then taking action…
Or perhaps: using the right tools; students at lower realms can use crossbow bolts or purchase explosive talismans…
And then: students at higher realms can sign up for sword cultivator interest classes and use sword techniques for a direct confrontation.
So boring…
Jiang Mengxin looked at her seatmate, Su Mumu. Perhaps it was contagious, as she also began to yawn.
But she didn’t have the habit of sleeping in class.
What should she do?
Jiang Mengxin idly spun her pencil. Slowly, the lead began to move smoothly, tracing beautiful curves as each stroke reflected the passing time.
On the pristine white paper…
Before long, a dreamlike, ethereal face gradually emerged.
It was the face of a girl.
However, the character in this portrait actually had a pair of large fox ears.
‘I can’t quite remember…’ Jiang Mengxin frowned. ‘What did she look like again?’
The tip of her pencil touched the eyes of the portrait.
“Zzz… snore…” Su Mumu’s snoring was very distracting.
‘Is she really that loud?’ Jiang Mengxin chuckled inwardly. She looked over at Su Mumu, and suddenly, her expression stiffened.
She murmured in confusion, “Eh? It seems… like they look a bit like Mumu’s eyes? Peach blossom eyes?”
*Scritch, scratch, scritch.*
The pencil moved rapidly, tracing every curve and line.
Jiang Mengxin was so absorbed in her drawing that she gradually tuned out all external noise.
This included Old Wu, who was spitting words enthusiastically on the podium. He was putting in extra effort specifically to treat this sole student from the elite class well!
But he noticed that from beginning to end, Jiang Mengxin never once looked up at him.
She was entirely immersed in her own world.
This dealt a heavy blow to Old Wu’s pride.
When he noticed Su Mumu again, he felt even more dejected.
Of the two new students who arrived today…
One was sleeping.
One was spacing out…
During the second half of the lesson, Old Wu fell into a mechanical repetition, dumping knowledge points out all at once. This caused several students in the class to voice their dissatisfaction.
“Teacher, what are the basic skills for a sword cultivator? You didn’t explain them; you just skipped over it.”
“Teacher, some Demon Kings are good at disguising themselves as ordinary animals. How do we actually identify them?”
*Ding, ding, ding.*
At the same time, the bell rang.
It was currently around 11:00 AM, which meant it was time for the lunch break.
The Changsheng immortal sect didn’t have many daily classes, so after this period, the students from the elite class would choose to do self-study, while the rest would gather in groups for free time.
Old Wu waved his hand irritably. “I’ll explain those next time. Class dismissed!”
Following his words, the students left the classroom in groups.
It was almost like a migration of birds.
This was the efficiency of the underachievers class.
Within three minutes, the classroom was empty.
Only the warmth of the setting sun outside the window remained, accompanied by the cooing of wood pigeons.
Old Wu pulled up a stool and sat down. He squinted his aged eyes, staring at Su Mumu and Jiang Mengxin in the back row.
Class was over.
Su Mumu was still sleeping.
Jiang Mengxin was still hunched over her desk with her pencil, writing and drawing something.
Old Wu clicked his tongue, stood up, and strode toward the back of the classroom, stopping beside the two girls.
Even at such a close distance, he didn’t catch Jiang Mengxin’s attention.
Old Wu became even more curious. “Jiang Mengxin, are you drawing?”
His voice immediately triggered a startled reaction from Jiang Mengxin.
“Ah? Old Fogey? Why are you here?”
Almost instinctively, Jiang Mengxin reached out with both hands, trying to cover the portrait on the paper.
But it was already too late. Old Wu’s gaze was much faster. He froze for a moment. “Are you drawing a demon? A fox demon in human form?”
