When the two of them left the Hospital gate, Yan Hua looked up at the Master beside her, little stars of admiration shining in her crimson eyes.
“Master, you’re amazing.”
She exclaimed repeatedly.
“Such a strict place, yet Master could bring me out. Inside, it was like a maze—I couldn’t tell east from west, but Master actually found the exit. That’s incredible.”
These words hit Bai Yue right where she was most sensitive, filling her vanity to the brim.
Bai Yue lifted her chin slightly, her face full of a ‘this is nothing’ pride.
In truth, she was just as lost inside the Hospital.
But ever since she broke out with Mu Chenxi last time, she’d gotten smarter, secretly using a Red Marker to draw Mysterious Arrows on the white walls at each corner as marks.
She wanted to explain the secret to Yan Hua, but the moment she saw her disciple’s worshipful gaze, she changed her mind.
Maintaining an image of unfathomable power in her disciple’s heart seemed… more important.
So she simply smiled mysteriously, said nothing more, took Yan Hua’s hand, and strode forward lightly.
Night deepened, and the lights began to glow.
The two soon arrived at Gourmet Street.
As they approached the same Barbecue Stall as before, the busy, aproned Boss Lady looked up and, seeing Bai Yue’s highly recognizable ‘Wen Shen’ face, and the small ‘Wen Shen’ with matching makeup beside her, nearly threw her skewers in shock.
She felt her soul leave her body, hurriedly started packing up her things, wishing she could pack up and run right away.
“Boss Lady, why are you closing so early?”
Bai Yue stood in front of the stall, looking at her frantic state with an innocent expression.
“I was planning to spend money here, can you at least finish my order before you leave?”
She added sincerely,
“I really like your barbecue’s flavor, but your temper’s a bit bad. Oh right, I was in a rush and forgot to change into my New Wedding Dress again today, so you saw me in my Patient Gown. Don’t get the wrong idea—I’m not a patient, and I’m definitely not contagious.”
The Boss Lady froze in her packing, raising her eyes.
A big ‘Clown’, with a small ‘Clown’ beside her, swearing up and down she wasn’t contagious?
That’s just lying with her eyes open!
She said nothing, only packed up faster.
Seeing this, Bai Yue could only sigh helplessly.
“Sigh, I was going to share a super valuable piece of Knowledge with you, but looks like you missed out on a Great Opportunity!”
The apron-wearing Boss Lady didn’t react, packed up with record speed, shouldered her Barbecue Stall, and disappeared into the night without a backward glance.
Bai Yue had no choice but to take Yan Hua to search for another place.
Soon, they arrived at a Hand-grab Pie Stall.
The Boss Lady at the stall saw their stunning makeup and immediately became alert, instinctively tensing and taking a small step back.
“Boss Lady, good evening!”
Bai Yue greeted warmly, her smile with that special face under the night making her more frightening than a Faceless Nurse.
“Cu…customer…good evening.”
The Boss Lady’s voice trembled, but she still managed a response.
“I’d like two hand-grab pies, both Family Combo. Tomato Sauce for the sauce, and add Chili Sauce.”
Bai Yue ordered skillfully.
“Customer, we don’t have Chili Sauce here.”
The Boss Lady didn’t dare serve her anything spicy.
“What kind of business are you running if you don’t even have basic condiments?”
Bai Yue complained out of habit, but recalling that Yan Hua liked sweet food, quickly changed her mind.
“Never mind, just add extra Tomato Sauce.”
“Alright.”
The Boss Lady nodded, pressing the dough onto the hot griddle.
“Sizzle—”
The aroma of dough and oil instantly spread.
She quickly added the toppings.
Golden Chicken Fillet, crispy Fried Sausage, tender Egg, refreshing Lettuce, and thick slices of Bacon were wrapped tightly in the crispy golden dough, then topped with Crispy Radish and finished with a bright red squeeze of Tomato Sauce.
A hefty hand-grab pie was quickly done.
Bai Yue took a pie, looked at Yan Hua beside her—whose eyes were almost stuck to the food with longing—and handed one over with a smile.
“Yan Hua, you eat first, see if you like it.”
Yan Hua couldn’t wait and took a big bite.
The crispness of the pie crust, the crunch of Crispy Radish, the sweet and sour Tomato Sauce, and the complex flavors of various meats and vegetables exploded in her mouth.
She squinted her eyes in happiness.
“Master, delicious~”
She praised indistinctly, a bit of red sauce smudging the corner of her lips.
Bai Yue reached out her fair index finger, gently wiped away the sauce from Yan Hua’s mouth, then naturally put the finger in her own mouth to taste, before biting into her own hand-grab pie.
The crust was crispy on the outside, tender inside, with rich fillings and layered flavor.
She was thoroughly satisfied.
The two ate eight hand-grab pies in total, their stomachs slightly bulging.
“Hic~”
Yan Hua let out a contented burp first.
Bai Yue followed, then turned to the Boss Lady.
“Boss, do you have Cola? Ice is best.”
“No ice, only Room Temperature.”
The Boss Lady answered.
“Then two cups of Room Temperature Cola.”
The two drank half a cup each with a ‘gududu’ sound.
Yan Hua’s eyes sparkled.
“Master, so tasty~”
“If you like it, drink more.”
Bai Yue affectionately rubbed her head.
“Customer,”
The Boss Lady, seeing they’d eaten and drunk their fill, gathered her courage.
“If you’re finished…shouldn’t you settle the bill?”
“Settle the bill? No problem.”
Bai Yue raised her hand confidently and pointed at her head.
“I’ll pay with this.”
Inside, the apron Boss Lady was filled with despair.
She really didn’t want any brain-bursting Knowledge, but by the rules, it was a valid payment.
She could only accept her fate, placing both hands on her head, assuming a tragic, heroic posture.
“Alright… I’m listening, go ahead.”
“Listen carefully.”
Bai Yue cleared her throat like a patient teacher.
“Given that 1 equals 4, 2 equals 8, and 3 equals 12, then what does 4 equal? Simple question, right?”
“Wait, aren’t you supposed to give me Knowledge? Why am I being quizzed?”
The Boss Lady was stunned.
“The Knowledge is in the question. If you answer it, you’ve learned.”
Bai Yue was full of conviction.
“This is easy! 4 equals 16. But that’s too simple to cover the bill, isn’t it?”
The Boss Lady said helplessly.
“Wrong, wrong, wrong.”
Bai Yue shook her head immediately.
Yan Hua echoed, face serious.
“You’re wrong, it’s not 16.”
“How could I be wrong? By the pattern, 4 is 16.”
The Boss Lady protested.
“Master can’t be wrong.”
Yan Hua looked at her earnestly.
“Think about it, if the question says 1 equals 4, then reverse it, and 4 equals 1, right? It’s so simple.”
Bai Yue’s eyes lit up, face full of pride.
“That’s right. As expected of my good disciple—so smart.”
The apron Boss Lady’s head buzzed, as if struck by a hammer, swelling in size.
She couldn’t help but object.
“You’re twisting logic. There’s an obvious pattern, but then you break it. That’s cheating.”
“How is it cheating?”
Yan Hua tilted her head with innocent logic.
“Just like 1 equals 4, and 4 equals 1. I like Master, Master likes me—it’s mutual. Makes perfect sense, right?”
This childish yet wildly warped ‘reasoning’ made the apron Boss Lady’s head swell again, so heavy she couldn’t even hold it upright, collapsing to the ground like a top-heavy doll.
“Boss Lady, are you okay?”
Bai Yue stepped forward to help her.
“No, no!”
The Boss Lady scooted back in terror, waving her hands.
“I’ll just sit here and recover! You’ve already paid. Please leave, I admit your Knowledge! I was wrong! Just go, I beg you…”
Clearly, she’d been utterly broken by this illogical master and disciple.
Seeing this, Bai Yue no longer insisted.
She took Yan Hua’s hand proudly.
“Let’s go, then. We’ll come again next time to support your business~”
Peace returned.
Yan Hua obediently waved.
“Boss Lady, goodbye~”
After the two walked away, the apron Boss Lady slumped to the ground, finally breathing a long sigh of relief, feeling the world clear again.
She swore never to see this clown master and disciple again—if she did, she’d pack up her stall and run for it.
