Once the bizarrely catchy dance finally ended, the four people lost in it at last noticed Dark Fang behind them, who was in the middle of regrowing his eyes.
“Yo, what brings you here so early today?”
Black Dragon, thoroughly satisfied from dancing, turned off the next track and looked at the now fully recovered Dark Fang in surprise.
Beside him, Xing Yao closed his eyes, quietly savoring the sensation from earlier. He had no idea why he was even here, but here he was.
“Black Dragon Boss, this guy is…”
Yao Shangxing, completely lost, stared at Dark Fang in confusion. It was a total stranger.
“Oh, right. Let me introduce you two.”
Black Dragon pointed at the muscular young man and explained to Dark Fang.
“This is Yao Shangxing. He’s a super rookie I have extremely high hopes for! He awakened as a superpowered individual just a week ago with massive potential, so I brought him straight over.”
Yao Shangxing was still puzzled. Had someone called his name earlier? He had been so into the otaku dance that he couldn’t be sure.
Could it be… this black dinosaur-armored monster guy? Does he know me?
“Yao Shangxing, this is—”
“No need, Boss.”
Dark Fang twisted the Accelerator Grip. A sweep of blood-red energy waves rolled past, and Li Chi appeared before everyone.
“Holy shit! Li Chi!”
Yao Shangxing’s jaw dropped at the sudden appearance of his familiar classmate.
“Wait, what the hell are you doing here?!”
“I was about to ask you the same thing.”
Li Chi stepped forward, grabbed Yao Shangxing’s shoulder, tilted his head back slightly to build momentum, then slammed it forward. A perfect headbutt landed.
“You bastard, did you die these past few days?! I thought you freaking vanished off the face of the earth!”
The usually gentle Li Chi laced every word with profanity. This was his exclusive way of interacting with his best bro.
“I had special circumstances, okay?! Ow! One was enough, stop hammering me!”
Yao Shangxing clutched his reddening forehead and kept backing up. The two of them—one advancing, one retreating—ended up performing a full “King of Qin Circles the Pillar” routine around the sofa.
Black Dragon watched the pair with mild surprise, privately amazed at how small the world was.
These two clearly already knew each other, and their relationship was pretty solid.
“I*****************! You**************!”
“No way, did I give you face?! I************!”
Li Chi’s words had an extremely high horse-content level; without censoring, they couldn’t be broadcast at all. Yao Shangxing refused to fall behind and immediately started firing back.
Should be… fine… right?
Do today’s young people really talk like this?
How do they know so many of these?
I’ve lived most of my life and I’ve never heard half of them!
After casting a light soundproofing spell on his own ears, Xing Yao thoughtfully covered Vivian’s ears beside him to protect the child’s pure heart from the filth.
White Lion, who had yet to knock on the door outside, heard the voices inside. He froze for three seconds, then pulled a small notebook out of nowhere and started scribbling down every single word.
He couldn’t let any opportunity to improve himself slip by. These lines would come in handy later when he wanted to roast Black Dragon.
The thought made White Lion’s hand move even faster. The pen in his grip left afterimages.
Influenced by those memories from the dystopian world, Li Chi’s vocabulary was exceptionally rich. Yao Shangxing, who had sat next to him as desk mates from elementary school through high school, had naturally absorbed the same influence.
Their verbal firepower operated on an entirely different level from the rest of the world. Once they really let loose, they could walk down the street and verbally annihilate any random passerby.
“So terrifying…”
Black Dragon was genuinely intimidated by the intensity of the two. He had lived a long time and seen many things, but this pair was something entirely new to him.
What was going on? How did this happen?
One was an anti-human nemesis capable of shouldering great responsibility, the other a superpowered individual with the same hobbies and enormous potential. Yet the moment you put the two together, this was the result?!
The cursing battle lasted a full ten minutes. The two of them went at it with flushed faces, dry mouths, towering rage, and expressions full of fury—colorful, bold, every day upward, with old mothers above and mother hens laying eggs, egg cubs lining up (cough, getting carried away).
In short, the two of them were thoroughly exhausted from cursing and had to call a temporary truce to catch their breath.
“Hah… hah… So you’re the Dark Fang that Boss keeps mentioning from time to time?”
Yao Shangxing leaned on the sofa, panting heavily. Everyone nearby finally relaxed and uncovered their ears once the verbal war stopped.
“Who else could it be besides your dad?”
Li Chi didn’t feel tired at all, but there was actual business to handle, so he had no choice but to pause for now.
“What about you? Care to explain?”
“You two.”
Black Dragon called out to them. Their cursing style was far too advanced, and he was worried they might corrupt his daughter. For the time being, he didn’t really want to see them, so he decided to send the pair to the underground training field to fight it out.
None of them were ordinary people. Hands-on combat was far more convenient and straightforward than verbal explanations.
After the two left together, Black Dragon looked at his sofa with lingering trepidation.
The once clean leather sofa was now covered in footprints. No need to ask who did it. Black Dragon immediately decided to throw the sofa out and replaced it with an even more expensive new one.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— (Our super divider line is getting a little tired)
Inside the underground training field, Li Chi and Yao Shangxing arrived one after the other. After picking their spots, they put some distance between themselves.
“Even though I don’t know exactly what’s going on, it’s pretty obvious that Black Dragon Boss wants us to get a feel for each other’s abilities.”
Yao Shangxing pointed at Li Chi with a fierce expression.
“No shit, genius.”
Li Chi replied in a flat tone.
Yao Shangxing ignored the jab. He dropped the sharp, aggressive aura from earlier and spoke calmly.
“My good big son, you probably don’t know this, but my status is completely different from before.”
He yanked off his outer jacket and tossed it aside, revealing the badge on his chest.
“I am now not only a Dark Organization executive! I am also a Magic Association executor! This incredibly badass dual identity is the recognition given to me by Black Dragon Boss and Xing Yao Boss!”
He stole my script…
Li Chi glanced at his own two fists, wondering which one he should use in a moment.
“And you, my good big son, are just an ordinary Dark Organization executive. Sure, I don’t know when you picked up monster abilities—but! You still can’t compare to me!”
Yao Shangxing stepped forward. Brilliant particles of light began gathering around him. They enveloped his body, turning Yao Shangxing into a golden faceless mannequin similar to the ones displayed in clothing stores. On closer inspection, his body now seemed transparent, or like a mirror that absorbed all the surrounding light.
“Dark Organization executive—Meteor! Prepare to witness the power of stars!”
Yao Shangxing’s body transformed into a streak of flowing light and instantly appeared in front of Li Chi.
“Hahahaha! Scared yet, my good big son?! My speed is something no one except those two can even catch—”
“Amazon!”
“Uwaaah!”
Blood-red energy waves suddenly flipped Meteor over. Thanks to inertia, the guy was hurled straight into the training field’s far wall and embedded in it.
Dark Fang walked over, yanked Meteor out of the wall, pinned him to the ground, and raised his palm high.
“Meteor, huh?”
Smack!
“Aaaargh!”
One slap.
“Power of stars, huh?”
Smack!
“Aaaargh!”
Another slap.
“Super fast, huh?”
Smack!
“Aaaargh!”
Yet another slap.
“Entered the training field with your left foot first, huh?”
Smack!
“Aaaargh! Wait, you’re just making shit up now!”
“Talking back, huh?”
Smack!
“Aaaargh! Waaaah! I’ll fight you to the death!”
“Fight me to the death, huh?”
Smack!
“Aaaargh!”
