Lu Qiuchen didn’t wait for the Blue Dragon to show off his lightning skills. She summoned ice spikes and shot them at the giant squid clinging to the Blue Dragon.
Every second counted now—there was no time to explain. She could only act first and talk later. The next moment, the Blue Dragon might be completely corrupted and fall under the control of the Demons.
Sensing the murderous intent and surge of magic behind him, the Blue Dragon reacted swiftly. Surrounded by the ocean, water elements were extremely active. In an instant, the Blue Dragon condensed a thin water mirror behind him, blocking the ice spikes that came pelting down like a sudden rainstorm.
When Lu Qiuchen saw her first attack had failed, she immediately drew on the water elements beside the squid, trying to freeze the giant squid first.
“What are you doing!” the Blue Dragon roared, his voice tinged with fear. He too began channeling water elements, trying to slow the squid’s freezing, and locked into a stalemate with Lu Qiuchen.
The Blue Dragon’s spiritual power and magic were only average among dragons. Compared to the Silver Dragons, who were top-tier in all magical disciplines, there was still a gap. Even though the Blue Dragon was closer to the surrounding water elements, the ice on the giant squid was still slowly forming.
“Haven’t you noticed this squid is a Demon? Didn’t your dragon inheritance teach you how to tell?” Lu Qiuchen questioned angrily. Young dragons awaken their inherited memories not long after birth. The deep-seated hatred for Demons is etched into every dragon’s heart, making them especially sensitive to the Demons’ aura.
And the inheritance gained upon adulthood only deepens this impression, granting even more knowledge.
For Demons adept at disguise, an adult dragon is an even more troublesome enemy than the Church.
“Dragon inheritance? That’s only for pure-blooded dragons! Dragons like us, who were transformed, only have memory inheritance!”
The Blue Dragon roared again. Seeing it was inevitable his “lover” would be frozen, he gave up controlling the water elements and began to draw on the lightning elements in the air.
‘What!’ Lu Qiuchen was startled. Then where did her dragon inheritance come from? None of the other dragons had ever mentioned this.
‘Could this Blue Dragon be lying to me?’ Lu Qiuchen instinctively suspected as much.
She felt the lightning elements in a vast area around them begin to stir. The clouds above gathered together, and thunder seemed to rumble in the sky.
With no time to think further, Lu Qiuchen tried to snap the Blue Dragon out of it and shouted, “Stop! Your magic has already been tainted by the squid’s tentacles!”
“Impossible! Don’t try to ruin my relationship with Boqi! Boqi would never do that to me!”
Lu Qiuchen froze in place, feeling as if ten thousand divine beasts were stampeding through her mind. From what he was saying, did he already know she was a Demon?
This wasn’t a matter of taste anymore. This was a brain problem! Lu Qiuchen was truly angry now—she never imagined the Blue Dragon before her would turn out to be a dragon traitor!
Lu Qiuchen no longer held back. Though the ocean favored the Blue Dragon, overall, the Silver Dragon’s stats were still higher.
The two furious dragons turned the sea and sky upside down. The once clear weather became filled with thunder and lightning, rain and snow swirling together in the sky. The sea was covered in a thick layer of ice, and huge jets of water erupted from the sea, bursting through the ice and instantly freezing into pillars—one after another, the ice pillars stood on the battlefield, adding a touch of absurdity to the chaos.
The Blue Dragon’s fury soared to the heavens. Boqi was so cute—he neither expected nor wanted these stupid, arrogant kin to appreciate her beauty.
But for this ugly Silver Dragon to insult his beloved! How could he not be enraged!
Electricity crackled fiercely between the twin horns on the Blue Dragon’s head. As he gathered power, the blue horns even began to glow faint red.
Come on, I’ll show you, foolish Silver Dragon, what true lightning is!
What did this ugly Silver Dragon say Boqi was again? A Demon? Ridiculous. Boqi was a beautiful dragon… squid…
WC, wait… Suddenly, he remembered. While squids were kind of cute, why did he marry a squid?
Crap. Seeing the panic on the Silver Dragon’s face, the Blue Dragon snapped back to his senses. He lowered his head, plunging his horns into the ice below, and the nearly uncontrollable surge of electricity shot straight down the ice into the depths of the sea.
The overwhelming currents caused by the two legendary powerhouses sent powerful undercurrents surging below the waves. The nearby fish had long since fled, so this lightning strike likely didn’t catch anything.
But much of the current still spread across the surface of the ice. Lu Qiuchen was swept by the stray electricity, her whole body tingling and numb.
It seemed the Demon’s corruption hadn’t gone too deep. Seeing the Blue Dragon regain his senses, Lu Qiuchen breathed a sigh of relief.
If she’d taken that big move from the Blue Dragon head-on, even with the Silver Dragon’s highest magic resistance among dragons, she’d probably have lost the ability to fight for a while.
She still had her trump card—spatial teleportation—but Lu Qiuchen already knew that when it came to matters involving Demons, spatial abilities might not work properly.
She’d already suffered a big loss in that regard before.
The Blue Dragon was still in shock over what he’d done, staring blankly at the dead giant squid encased in ice.
But the squid’s fatal wound wasn’t from Lu Qiuchen. The real cause was the gash at the back of its head—a Mind Demon had tried to slip away while the two dragons were busy fighting, but Lu Qiuchen stopped it in time. The furious Blue Dragon was unleashing indiscriminate attacks, and in the end, it was the Blue Dragon’s massive lightning strike that finished off the Mind Demon.
Lu Qiuchen recalled the grotesque scene of a big octopus crawling out of the squid’s head and felt a wave of inexplicable disgust and horror.
Once the Blue Dragon came to, he suddenly wailed, clutching the giant squid’s corpse in his front claws, crying out “Boqi, Boqi!” in utter grief.
Judging by his reaction, the Blue Dragon must have figured it out by now. Though his perceptions had been tampered with, his feelings of love were not fake.
Lu Qiuchen felt powerless in the face of the Blue Dragon’s actions. Watching him grieve so bitterly, she couldn’t support his thinking, but still couldn’t help sighing.
She knew she wouldn’t get any more answers from the Blue Dragon now. Thinking of what he’d said earlier, she grew doubtful: She herself had become a dragon through the bloodline transformation ritual—so where did her dragon inheritance come from?
Lu Qiuchen decided to return to Dragon Island to ask Auduin or the Dragon Kings, and to report the matter of the solitary Blue Dragon’s corruption by the Demons to the Council of Elders.
By now, the dark clouds in the sky had dispersed. After checking the map, Lu Qiuchen picked a direction for Dragon Island and flew off, leaving the Blue Dragon clutching the giant squid’s corpse in solitary sorrow.

At that moment, five hundred meters below the sea at this very spot, an elf was nursing his wounds inside a large air bubble.
The elf’s once beautiful, delicate face was now twisted in pain, and most of his golden hair was scorched and curled.
This elf was none other than the “Archmage” who had once spoken with the Druid and the Pope.
The “Archmage” was feeling frustrated: ‘Those two above are way too hot-tempered!’
After being chased off Dragon Island while tailing the Silver Dragon, he had spent more than half a year tracking her down again. But once more, things went awry—before he could properly observe the Silver Dragon, he was struck by the lightning from the Blue Dragon above. What rotten luck!
Suddenly, a thought struck the “Archmage”: ‘Could it be I got struck because I borrowed that little girl’s gold coins?’
He remembered that back in the Forest Elf tribe, he’d met a lively little Blue Dragon. He’d always liked cute little girls and decided to tease her a bit.
While playing with the adorable dragon hatchling, he noticed she seemed quite wealthy and “borrowed” some gold coins from her. At the time, he’d casually promised that tricking a dragon would get you struck by lightning, hadn’t he?
Whatever, he had no intention of returning those coins. He’d borrowed them fair and square—why should he give them back!
When he was thrown out of Dragon Island, that little Blue Dragon had also just been caught. Luckily, he’d slipped away quickly and hadn’t been discovered.
Come to think of it, that little Blue Dragon didn’t even know who he was—quite a pity, really.
