“But…”
Lin Xing snapped back to reality instantly, the warmth of the young girl’s breath still lingering on the tip of his ear.
He subconsciously straightened his back.
“But what?”
Seeing this, the smile in Lumiya’s eyes deepened.
She took two playful steps back and purposefully stuck out her tongue to make a face.
Her tail flicked rapidly behind her, her tone full of sly mockery.
“But… I am going to sleep with you in my cute little dragon form. Are you happy?”
An ‘I knew it’ expression appeared on Lin Xing’s face.
‘Tsk, I knew it.’ Lumiya was just talk.
She teased him constantly, but in reality, the most intimate thing she had ever done was let him touch her leg—and even then, it was only for a short while!
“Happy, happy, I am overjoyed! It is truly an honor that the great Lady Lumiya would condescend to sleep beside me!”
Lumiya did not care about the dismissive tone in Lin Xing’s voice.
She had not actually planned on using her little dragon body.
After all, it was just sleeping; what did it matter?
When she was a human before her transmigration, she had squeezed into communal bunks with others.
As a dragon, she was even more casual—she could sleep anywhere.
Never mind a little guy like Lin Xing; Lumiya had even slept in a wolf’s den!
Besides, she had already slept with Lin Xing in her human form before, right? Lin Xing just did not know about it.
“Lin Xing! Quick, smell me and see if I still stink! Lumiya just said I smelled super bad! She said if I did not take a bath, she would throw me away!”
Little Green, who had just finished bathing, had flushed cheeks.
Her simple silk pajamas clung slightly to her body where droplets of water remained, outlining her slender and nimble figure.
Water still dripped from the ends of her hair, hitting the floor as she ran.
After her bath, she seemed to have sobered up quite a bit.
She no longer stumbled over her words, though her tone held a hint of grievance.
She trotted over to Lin Xing and, without a word, pressed her head—scented with the fresh fragrance of body wash—toward him.
“Smell me quickly. There is no smell anymore, right? Is it gone? Lumiya will not throw me away, will she?”
Little Green was truly anxious this time.
She gripped Lin Xing tightly, her eyes even turning a bit red.
The blow of being left behind by Lumiya years ago had been far too great.
Although Little Green had not mentioned it once since seeing Lumiya again, trying her best to act as if she did not care, she panicked when Lumiya mentioned discarding her.
Even though she knew Lumiya was mostly joking, she could not accept being abandoned again.
“I will keep you. Of course I will. We are both bound to Lin Xing now, so how could I not want you? Unless Lin Xing is gone one day…”
Seeing Little Green’s intense reaction and her reddening eyes, Lumiya quickly softened her tone to comfort her.
Leaving Little Green behind back then was indeed her fault, but it was not entirely because she did not want her.
Looking at Little Green’s watery eyes, she sighed inwardly.
Even though Little Green had chattered in her ear for two hundred years and occasionally threw little tantrums, Lumiya had long since come to view the little creature as a close companion.
Back then, she had left her behind mostly because she could not refuse the repeated pleas of the elders of Little Green’s tribe.
She thought Little Green would be better off with her people; there was nothing good about wandering outside with her.
“Re… Really? How could Lin Xing ever be gone! With Lumiya here, it is impossible for Lin Xing to… to not be here, right?”
Hearing Lumiya personally promise not to leave her, Little Green blurted this out excitedly.
Fortunately, she restrained herself at the end and did not reveal anything specific to Lin Xing.
“Alright, alright, stop discussing whether I am going to die right in front of me! I can definitely break through to the ninth rank! When that happens, I will live for a very long time, okay?”
Lin Xing listened from the side, his face covered in dark lines.
Though these two were technically wishing for him to live longer, it felt like he had become a strange prop in some weird roleplay between them.
Furthermore, he was not joking about reaching the ninth rank.
His transmigrator’s cheat finally had news of an upgrade!
When he was surrounded by that black shadow and the bone bear by the seaside, he had sensed it! The cheat had leveled up! It seemed that as long as he broke through to the second rank, he would receive a brand-new buff!
He did not know why, but it felt like he had killed a powerful boss and gained an experience bar.
Once he gathered enough energy from kills, he could upgrade.
‘But when did I kill a monster?’ He felt like he had not moved the entire time.
Though he did not understand it, any improvement to his cheat was a good thing.
There was no rush to reach the second rank.
First, he had to find a way to entice Lumiya or Little Green into practicing that secret technique with him!
Besides, that guy Lingering Cloud was being all mysterious, saying that he had to wait until he returned to school to break through.
He claimed that Little Jade and Lumiya had an extraordinary relationship and that he would find a way to get Lin Xing another SSS-grade beast!
Lin Xing did not believe such nonsense, of course, but since Lingering Cloud had said so, waiting another month was no big deal.
“Ahem! It is getting late. Is it time for bed?”
Turning to see Lumiya and Little Green still whispering about him, Lin Xing put on a foolish, lecherous grin.
“We had a deal, remember? Tonight, you are going to let me experience what it is like to have a girl on each arm!”
“Pah! We dare to go, but do you dare to take it?”
Lumiya held Little Green and looked at Lin Xing with disdain, her eyes carrying a provocative glint.
‘Typical Xiao Chunan!’ What was he doing, acting like a big bad wolf? If she and Little Green actually climbed into his bed, he would probably freeze up like a block of wood, unable to move a single muscle.
‘Wait, that actually sounds kind of fun.’
“However, I never break my word! Just wash up and wait! Little Green and I are really sleeping in your room tonight.”
Lumiya purposefully made the latter half of her sentence softer.
Her voice carried an almost imperceptible sweetness at the end, and the tips of her ears turned slightly red, yet she forced herself to look Lin Xing in the eye.
“That is right! Lumiya and I will definitely go! You have to wait for us obediently!” Little Green chimed in, standing on her tiptoes.
Her emerald eyes were bright and her tone was completely earnest, entirely failing to notice the nuance in Lumiya’s voice.
Lin Xing looked on in disbelief.
‘No way. Are they for real?’
