Wang Jie was so terrified he couldn’t speak, his mouth half-open in panic while Zhou Kai stared blankly, his eyes darting around without uttering a word.
Zhang Yu’s expression was now filled with sheer terror, completely devoid of his earlier calm and rationality.
His fear wasn’t just because of the single zombie outside the door…
Taking a deep breath, Zhang Yu said, “Prepare to open the door!”
“What?”
Zhou Kai’s eyes widened as he stared at Zhang Yu.
“Open the door? Are you insane?”
He still remembered the zombie was right outside, so he deliberately lowered his voice.
“Yeah, why would we open the door?”
Wang Jie was even more confused, shrinking back in fear.
“If we open it, we might survive. If we don’t, we’re definitely dead!”
Lin Mo spoke up, his gaze fixed on the door.
“Exactly. If we let this zombie keep pounding on the door, it’ll attract others soon enough. No matter how sturdy the door is, it won’t hold against multiple zombies relentlessly smashing it,” Zhang Yu explained as he walked into the bathroom, retrieving two mops.
He dismantled the handles, tested one in his grip, and handed the other to Lin Mo.
“Get ready to open the door.”
Zhang Yu exhaled deeply, his expression steadying before moving the laptops off the suitcase.
“Wait…”
Just as he was about to shift the suitcase, Lin Mo suddenly stopped him.
Under Zhang Yu’s puzzled look, Lin Mo pushed the suitcase back slightly, repositioned the laptops on top, and then turned to him.
“The moment the zombie gets in, push the suitcase forward with all your strength.”
Zhang Yu immediately understood and nodded firmly.
“Got it!”
Once everything was set, it was time to open the door.
Lin Mo stared intently at the door before cautiously unlocking it.
BANG―!
The instant the door cracked open, a tremendous force slammed against it, nearly knocking Lin Mo off balance.
He quickly steadied himself and threw his full weight into shoving the suitcase forward.
Zhang Yu followed suit, and together, they forced the door nearly shut again—but the zombie had already wedged halfway through, revealing half of its blood-soaked head and a claw wildly slashing at the air, a horrifying sight.
“You two, get over here and help!”
Zhang Yu barked at Wang Jie and Zhou Kai, who were still frozen in shock.
The two jolted awake and rushed to brace against the suitcase.
Seizing the moment, Lin Mo grabbed the mop handle and swung at the zombie’s claw, blocking its attempt to grab Zhang Yu.
For now, the zombie was trapped in the doorway.
Lin Mo finally had a chance to study it—its face was smeared with blood, one eye missing, and a chunk of flesh torn from its cheek, making it grotesquely terrifying.
At the same time, a burst of information flashed through his mind:
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Name: Zombie
Type: Undead
Level: 1
Strength: 1.2
Agility: 0.6
Constitution: 1.1
Spirit: 0
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
This must be the data of the zombie before them.
Compared to Lin Mo, this zombie’s attributes clearly held an overwhelming advantage.
Aside from its zero spirit stat which could be disregarded, only its agility was slightly lower than Lin Mo’s.
Its strength had reached 1.2—no wonder Lin Mo had been nearly knocked down despite his full preparation earlier.
“Lin Mo, stop spacing out! Now!”
Zhang Yu’s shout snapped Lin Mo out of his analysis of the zombie’s stats.
Without hesitation, Lin Mo instinctively grabbed the mop handle in his hands and swung it hard at the zombie’s head.
Thud!
The impact sent chunks of rotting flesh flying from the already battered skull, but to a zombie, this barely counted as damage, one hit wasn’t enough, he’d just keep going!
Lin Mo didn’t stop, repeatedly smashing the mop handle against the zombie’s head. Beside him, Zhang Yu did the same, hammering away at the creature’s skull.
Crack! After dozens of blows, the mop handle finally snapped in Lin Mo’s grip. By now, the zombie’s head was a pulpy mess-its brains surely reduced to mush inside.
The zombie had stopped moving.
Without wasting a second, Lin Mo kicked the creature hard in the chest, sending it toppling backward before quickly slamming the door shut.
Huff… Huff… Only then did Lin Mo finally relax, gasping for breath.
Zhang Yu beside him was in the same state, while the two who’d been holding the zombie back collapsed to the floor, completely drained.
Truth be told, those two were actually stronger than Lin Mo.
Their exhaustion came half from physical strain, and half… from sheer terror.
After all, the zombie had been less than half a meter away from them earlier.
Seeing those gnashing teeth and clawing hands at such close range would terrify anyone.
Lin Mo opened his stinging palms, the webbing between thumb and index finger throbbing with sharp pain-the recoil from all those strikes had taken its toll.
Just then, a voice echoed in Lin Mo’s mind once more: “Congratulations on eliminating a level 1 monster zombie. Experience gained: 1 point. Congratulations, you’ve leveled up…”
