“Little White Night, your own legs are burned like that. You bought medicine for us instead of healing yourself?”
Mu Yingying looked over as well.
“Little White Night.”
“Your Divine Soul damage is heavier than any of ours. You should have healed yourself first.”
“It doesn’t hurt,” White Night said.
“Didn’t it get a bit better just now? I’ll find a way later. If those wounds of yours aren’t treated, there will be big problems if you drag it out.”
“White Night.” Su Shuang’er called her name again, her tone growing heavier.
“I said it doesn’t hurt—”
Su Shuang’er reached out, her fingertips hovering over the calves of White Night’s Soul Body. In the end, she didn’t dare touch her, afraid of hurting this fragile Soul Body.
She felt both heartache and touched, sighing helplessly.
She stood up and took the medicine out of the bicycle basket.
She began to sprinkle hemostatic powder on Mu Yingying’s wounds, then applied the ointment bit by bit to the burns and scratches.
Her technique wasn’t particularly delicate, making Mu Yingying grimace in pain.
“Good Shuang’er, be gentler. It hurts~” Mu Yingying said in a flirtatious voice.
Su Shuang’er got goosebumps from her acting and rolled her eyes, though her movements did indeed become gentler.
“Loose woman, I hope it hurts you to death.”
Seeing the two aunties bickering again, White Night couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
“Little White Night, you’re still laughing? If anything happens to you, your Auntie will… I will…”
Su Shuang’er couldn’t find a way to treat White Night for the longest time. It wasn’t that she couldn’t, but rather that she couldn’t bear to put her through more.
“I know, Auntie Frost. I’ll be careful next time.”
White Night obediently lowered her head and admitted her mistake, looking like a perfectly well-behaved child.
However, she thought to herself, ‘If I ever run into that kind of danger again, I’ll do the same thing.’
“Auntie Frost, don’t worry about me. Once I save up enough Points in the future, the System can repair the soul damage to my legs. They’ll be completely healed by then.”
Su Shuang’er closed her eyes and placed her hand back on the bike frame, not moving it again.
“You really didn’t take your Auntie’s words to heart.”
After Su Shuang’er finished treating Mu Yingying’s injuries, she lowered her head and treated her own.
When the ointment was applied, she hissed, clenching her teeth to swallow the sound.
Once everything was done, she capped the ointment and put it back in the basket.
She stretched her wrists and rolled her neck.
The ointment worked quite fast, and the pain had lessened significantly.
It was far from being fully healed, but at least she was no longer in a state where she would grimace at the slightest touch.
“Alright, it’s my turn.”
Mu Yingying rested for a moment, barely managing to recover some strength. She was ready to give the Little Bicycle some heavy maintenance.
“Little Bicycle, Auntie Ying is going to give you some maintenance.”
Su Shuang’er’s eyes snapped open.
“Mu Yingying—”
“Counting the previous ones, you’ve gone twice already. I’ve only gone once. You can’t hog Little White Night like this.”
Su Shuang’er said in bashful annoyance, “How is that the same? You loose woman, you’re doing it for real. You better be careful and not hurt Little White Night.”
“Big Fat Butt, you’re so annoying. You’re interfering with my Depth Emotional Maintenance.”
Mu Yingying didn’t give her a second chance to speak, having already leaned in close to White Night.
She was indeed completely different from Su Shuang’er.
She didn’t have all those twists and turns of embarrassment. Her peach blossom eyes were curved with a smile, open and honest.
“Don’t be nervous, Little Bicycle. Auntie Ying has a gentle touch.”
White Night’s Soul Body was already so flushed it was hard to look at.
“Auntie… Auntie Ying, can you be a bit more normal…”
“Shh, don’t talk. Feel your Auntie’s love with your heart~”
A moment later.
[Ding—Detected Bicycle Driver: Mu Yingying has performed a Depth Emotional Maintenance on the bicycle.]
[The Soul Bond between the bicycle and the driver has deepened.]
[Reward: Bicycle Points +1]
White Night looked at the notification popping up on the System panel, feeling quite surprised.
She really hadn’t expected that maintenance could be performed so many times in a single day.
She looked down at the soul version of her legs. The charred black area had receded another small circle. The magnitude was smaller than when Su Shuang’er did it, but it was indeed improving.
Mu Yingying leaned back against the wall with a look of satisfaction, appearing like she had just finished a fine meal.
“How was that, Little Bicycle? Auntie Ying’s maintenance isn’t worse than a certain Big Fat Butt’s, right?”
White Night didn’t dare answer that question.
She knew all too well what would happen if she did.
Su Shuang’er, however, didn’t immediately fire back.
She sat quietly for a while. Only when Mu Yingying’s eyelids began to flutter as she leaned against the wall did Su Shuang’er slowly move over to White Night’s side.
After the medicine was applied, the pain wasn’t as severe, and her stamina had recovered somewhat.
“Little White Night.”
Her voice was very soft.
“One more time.”
White Night looked at her.
This time, Su Shuang’er’s face was practically a deep shade of purple.
Because right now, she was sober.
Thoroughly, completely sober.
The Side Effect had long since passed. No part of her body was out of control, yet her mind was still thinking about White Night.
“Auntie Frost, you—”
“Shh.”
Su Shuang’er’s voice was almost inaudible.
“Auntie is doing this to treat you. A doctor’s heart is benevolent. Your legs aren’t healed yet.”
White Night’s face turned as red as a boiling teapot. She felt like doing too much maintenance was getting to her head…
[Ding—Detected Bicycle Driver: Su Shuang’er has performed a Depth Emotional Maintenance on the bicycle.]
[The Soul Bond between the bicycle and the driver has deepened.]
[Reward: Bicycle Points +1]
[Notice: Today’s Depth Emotional Maintenance limit has been reached. Daily maintenance rewards are full.]
Several notification tones rang out in succession.
Another Point.
White Night looked down at her legs. The charred area had receded another small circle, and the burning sensation below her knees—the feeling that they might shatter at any moment—had lessened considerably.
She was still far from a full recovery, but at least she wouldn’t fall apart.
Su Shuang’er leaned back against the wall, burying her face in her knees. The tips of her ears were so red they looked like they might drip blood.
She felt like she had thrown away all the dignity of her entire life today.
The silence didn’t last long.
“Hey, the System said it’s full, right?”
Mu Yingying had woken up at some point.
She hadn’t been asleep at all; she had been squinting her eyes and eavesdropping.
“Aha! Big Fat Butt, I caught you eating in secret.”
“Little White Night, let me see how much your body has recovered. How about… I try one more time?”
“You loose woman!!”
Su Shuang’er’s head snapped up from her knees. Her face was still flushed, but murderous intent was already overflowing.
“Mu Yingying, you loose woman! You shameless thing! The System already said it’s full for today, and you’re still trying!”
“Counting the previous ones, you’ve gone three times, Big Fat Butt! I only went once! Is that fair?”
Mu Yingying spoke with a look of righteous indignation.
“How is that the same!”
“How is it not the same? Tell me, exactly what is the difference?”
Su Shuang’er opened her mouth.
Her mind raced through three quick rotations, but she couldn’t find a single valid reason.
“…It’s just different, regardless.”
“Big Fat Butt, you’re just being unreasonable because you can’t explain it. Your skin is as thick as your butt.”
“Mu Yingying, believe it or not, I’ll actually punch you—”
“Punch me, then. Go ahead. Kill me with one punch.”
Mu Yingying tilted her neck back, looking like she was ready for anything.
“Anyway, I’ve worked hard and achieved much today. If you actually hit me, I’ll consider it my loss if your conscience can handle it.”
She just looked at Su Shuang’er, her peach blossom eyes full of rogue-like amusement.
Su Shuang’er’s fist stopped halfway.
She froze.
Then she lowered it.
She let out a huff.
She turned her face away.
She really couldn’t bring herself to strike. All those wounds on Mu Yingying today were received while shielding her and White Night.
The corners of Mu Yingying’s mouth curled up.
Another win.
White Night sat tucked in the bicycle basket, watching this scene play out from beginning to end.
In the Doomsday, amidst the ruins and under the moonlight, two aunties covered in bandages were arguing until they were red in the face over how many times they got to be close to her.
Her desperate struggle to charge out of that Black Mist for these two aunties hadn’t been in vain at all.
Both aunties cared about her deeply, though sometimes they got a bit carried away…
The moonlight slowly drifted from one wall to the other.
Mu Yingying was finally truly sleepy. Her head tilted as she leaned against the wall, her mouth still muttering incoherently.
“Little Bicycle… if you spend all your Points on us and don’t treat your own legs next time… I’ll definitely…”
The words that followed were swallowed by her snoring.
Su Shuang’er’s hand rested on White Night’s frame, her finger rubbing it lightly every now and then.
“Your legs… do they really not hurt?”
Her voice was very low, afraid of waking the person beside her.
“Much better.”
White Night answered softly. That was the honest truth.
Su Shuang’er’s finger paused for a moment, then continued its gentle rubbing.
“When we reach a safe place, Auntie will find a way to collect Ghost Crystals.”
“Okay.”
White Night nodded. Auntie Frost really cared about her.
