That night, many couldn’t sleep.
Xia Mo didn’t sleep, Luo Shuangxing didn’t sleep, and certain members of an evil organization didn’t sleep either.
Xia Mo’s reason for sleeplessness was obvious—how could she sleep after being “licked” by her enemy like that?
A young girl’s thoughts are always delicate.
She had thought Ming Die was just an ordinary enemy, perhaps a bit stronger, with a strange, indefinable attitude toward her.
But now, Ming Die’s sudden action left her bewildered.
Could it be… Ming Die had some kind of feelings for her?
Though she knew it was likely just her overthinking and Ming Die’s move was probably just a perverse whim, Xia Mo decided that next time they met, she’d seriously tell Ming Die she already had someone she liked.
She couldn’t let Ming Die think she was a woman who could be casually teased.
Luo Shuangxing, on the other hand, was sleepless purely out of anger.
Ming Die doing that to her senior right in front of her—wasn’t that just blatant NTR?!
NTR deserves death! She hadn’t even gotten a taste of her senior, and now some villain had beaten her to it—infuriating!
Luo Shuangxing was so mad she took it out on her blanket, as if the defenseless fabric was Ming Die herself.
Even after venting, she still couldn’t sleep.
Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Ming Die’s smug, triumphant expression, holding her shy senior in front of her, silently taunting, “Your senior belongs to me now.”
Completely sleepless!
So, the next morning, Luo Shuangyue, who had slept soundly and was refreshed, stood in stark contrast to the two girls with heavy dark circles under their eyes.
Luo Shuangyue glanced at Xia Mo, then at her sister.
She could understand Xia Mo not sleeping well, but Luo Shuangxing—what was her deal?
“Didn’t you go to bed early last night?”
“I don’t know, something loud woke me up in the middle of the night, and I couldn’t fall back asleep,” Luo Shuangxing yawned, tossing out a casual excuse.
There was a loud noise that woke her up last night, so no issue there.
Hearing this, Xia Mo’s expression turned colorful.
To her, it sounded like the noise from her late-night outing had woken Luo Shuangxing.
“Sorry, Shuangxing…”
“Why are you apologizing, Xia Mo-jie? It’s not like you woke me up,” Luo Shuangxing muttered, her dead-fish eyes glaring.
Just thinking about having to go to the Magic Department for makeup classes made her feel her future was bleak.
“Haha, right.” Xia Mo laughed awkwardly, thinking to herself, Actually, it was me who woke you up, Shuangxing.
“Alright, alright, let’s go eat breakfast,” Luo Shuangyue jumped in to bail Xia Mo out.
Honestly, with Xia Mo’s reaction, it was a miracle Luo Shuangxing’s sluggish state didn’t catch on to her magical girl identity.
Someone says they were woken up at night, and you blurt out an apology?
That’s practically confessing!
If it were Luo Shuangyue, she’d have jumped in to agree with her sister, cursing out whoever made the noise and completely clearing herself of suspicion.
Who made the noise? How would I know? Maybe a stray cat.
After breakfast, Luo Shuangxing trudged off to her makeup classes with her backpack, while Xia Mo stayed in the living room watching TV.
Luo Shuangyue, meanwhile, left the house with a bag, pretending to head to work, but actually went to a nearby motel to change clothes and doubled back.
Xia Mo told her to use the front door, right?
Fine, this time she’d use the front door!
“Last night, the Magic Department raided a criminal organization’s hideout, apprehending suspects…”
Ding dong~
A crisp doorbell interrupted the TV news. Xia Mo started to get up to check who it was when she heard the door being opened.
Was the front door unlocked?
Xia Mo didn’t think so.
A thief, maybe?
That didn’t add up either—this was the Magic Department’s temporary housing.
Who’d steal here?
“Hello~” A white-haired girl pushed open the door, waving at Xia Mo.
Of course, who else would show up like this at this moment?
Only that elusive, unpredictable enemy.
“Ming Die? How did you…”
“How did I get here? I felt like it. Got a problem with that?”
The white-haired girl flashed a wicked grin, bending down to take off her shoes.
She glanced at the two pairs of slippers on the rack.
Forget it, she’d go without.
Her black-stockinged feet stepped onto the slightly cool wooden floor, which felt a bit odd, but there were no spare slippers, so it’d have to do.
Xia Mo had no clue what Luo Shuangyue was thinking.
She assumed going sock-only was Ming Die’s quirk—didn’t she go barefoot in her transformed state too?
It seemed Ming Die only wore shoes when she absolutely had to outside.
But seriously, Ming Die, are you that broke?
Why are you always wearing the same outfit?
Xia Mo couldn’t help herself. If you’re that poor, how about I buy you a couple of outfits to switch things up?
I’m getting tired of seeing you in the same clothes every day.
“Don’t worry, I waited until your two friends left before coming. No need to stress about them spotting me,” Luo Shuangyue said, walking behind Xia Mo and glancing at the TV with a mocking chuckle.
“Admiring your handiwork? Didn’t expect you to be so narcissistic.”
“No way, it just happened to be on this channel,” Xia Mo shook her head quickly.
She didn’t usually watch news; she’d just turned on the TV and hadn’t had time to change the channel.
Ming Die had shown up right as she sat down—there was no time to switch!
“Oh, I see.”
“So what do you want? Last night, you licked my ear—that wasn’t part of our deal,” Xia Mo said, glaring at Ming Die seriously. “You know I already have someone I like.”
“I know, Luo Shuangyue, right? Decent guy. Not sure if it’s your luck or his,” Luo Shuangyue said, praising herself without a hint of shame, as a seasoned villain.
“I’m here to warn you—don’t think…”
Before she could finish, urgent knocking came from the door.
Then came Luo Shuangxing’s anxious voice:
“Xia Mo-jie, open the door quick! I forgot my keys and phone in my room!”
