Everything was ready, only the east wind was lacking!
Count Perry donned his specially crafted Golden Dragon Knight Armor, looking imposing and majestic, personally overseeing the troops at the front.
The enmity of a murdered son was irreconcilable!
Though his heart was still filled with grief—after all, he didn’t even know how much money he had poured into this, and at least half of his family’s fortune over several generations was already lost—
At a single command, the entire army advanced!
Dong~Dong~Dong~Dong~Dong~Dong~
That day, the Giant Whale Knights gathered in the dining hall of the Knight Academy City felt the ground tremble.
Forgetting even their meals, they all ran up to the city walls and returned to their defensive positions.
On the edge of the Great Plain, densely packed human warriors appeared.
Right in front of the Giant Whale Knights, the engineers set up row after row of barracks on the opposite side of the plain, even pulling up a ring of horse-repelling fences specifically to prevent knight charges.
They had really come.
Count Perry’s army, estimated at least thirty thousand troops.
Most importantly, every type of unit was fully equipped—it was a true army.
And we only had three hundred elite soldiers guarding the city.
Their forces were a hundred times ours.
That meant each Giant Whale Knight would have to take down a hundred noble mercenaries.
“Another thirty thousand. Why is it always thirty thousand? What an unlucky number.”
Samimi also came up to the tower, gazing into the distance, and remarked:
“I never thought I’d die not under the Demon Blade of a Southern Forest Demon assassin, nor be devoured by an Abyss Swarm, but possibly by the swords and magic of other humans.”
“These thirty thousand soldiers are only what we can see. This is just Count Perry’s force. There should be even more troops in the rear—the armies of Marquis Edward and Count Salam, still observing.” Knight King Char analyzed from beside her.
He was right.
Behind them were more units that hadn’t yet taken the field—men belonging to the other two Great Lords, who were all watching.
If the battle turned favorable, they would join in to exploit the situation.
If there was no advantage, they would sit tight.
All of them were the scum of the human world.
“Samimi, what did you do in the South? Can you tell me in detail?” Fabiana asked.
“Do you really want to hear it? And I think I’ve already told you? I’m afraid you’ll be jealous. Legeas, Bemore, and I formed a temporary party, wiped out two Great Abyss Monsters, and pushed straight to the Abyss Frontline. Of course, I really didn’t want to team up with them, but I had no choice for the sake of saving the world. As soon as we finished, I immediately disbanded the party.” Samimi boasted.
“Damn it…”
Fabiana was indeed jealous after hearing that.
Everyone had left her behind and secretly formed a party to save the world once.
She was still here playing the pathetic noble power struggle game and had even dragged down the savior.
However, the Count’s army didn’t attack immediately. They only set up camp, surrounding the Knight Academy City, ensuring no one could retreat.
It had been mentioned before that the Knight Academy City backed onto a forest cliff, easy to defend but hard to attack.
But that also meant we had no way out, because the enemy could easily block all routes.
Besides, on the plain we were too conspicuous; a stealthy escape was impossible.
But it didn’t matter.
The clever Samimi had already sent the Assassin Miss ahead to deliver news.
Even if we somehow got wiped out, someone would be there to collect Mimi’s corpse.
“War has truly come. Have you learned any new moves?” Samimi asked.
“I won’t know if they work until we actually fight.” Fabiana replied.
“What about you, Niubao?” Samimi asked again.
“I won’t know if I can do it until I have another round with the God of Fight.” Niubao answered.
“Given the God of Fight’s personality, he’s probably forging iron on the West Coast, not here.” Samimi teased.
“Then that’s tough.” Niubao said, looking defeated.
“Niubao actually feeling defeated? That’s strange.” Samimi wondered. “But this time you should be able to unlock the Demon Knives.”
‘What a hell of a joke.’
‘But even if I don’t want to start, I have to. They’re forcing it right in my face.’
‘I’m still keeping my kill vow, but I don’t think I can hold it. This time I’ll really be slaughtering.’
‘I’m not so saintly that I’ll be kind when someone comes to my doorstep.’
“Sorry, my conscience.”
Samimi still remembered the first time she saw a dead person—it was Qiqi Zhu’s deadly poison.
That was absolutely terrifying.
But she would have to develop an even more horrifying killing technique than hers.
No one dared to let their guard down.
From now on, the Giant Whale Knights could only live on the city walls. Unless they were logistics personnel, they wouldn’t go down, remaining vigilant at all times.
Even Samimi’s group of four stayed up there for a whole day and night.
By the next morning, several dozen elite knight orders emerged from the Count’s distant encampment and slowly approached the city gate.
But they didn’t come too close, keeping a distance to prevent any surprise attacks.
The group also included many non-combat units.
There were many bards, whose pens were more lethal than swords.
These bards were spies from various major powers on the West Coast, sent specifically to record major events.
In our modern terms, they were more like journalists.
It seemed the enemy intended to observe courtesy before force. They didn’t attack with all their might but came first to intimidate and negotiate. If that failed, they would act.
At the head was a dazzling golden noble knight—Count Perry himself.
He came personally to the front lines, extremely arrogant, clearly confident in his escort.
“Undead Knight Fabiana! Come face me!”
Count Perry shouted toward the city wall through a Magic Megaphone.
“…”
Fabiana peered down from the wall, her expression cold.
“You murderer! Finally daring to show your face? I thought you were still playing the turtle! No one can protect you today!” Count Perry pointed a finger to the sky and rebuked her with righteous indignation.
“…”
Fabiana still said nothing.
She had nothing to say.
She couldn’t be as shameless as those people across from her.
But her fists were already clenched in secret.
The man who had ordered the murder of her own parents was accusing her of killing his son.
Ridiculous. Pitiful. Hateful.
If allowed, she wished she could fly down instantly and twist the enemy’s head off.
But Fabiana wasn’t blinded by rage.
Those bards were waiting for her to lose control.
That would only cement her bad reputation.
Besides, Count Perry had several skilled bodyguards by his side. Whether she could actually kill him was uncertain; she might end up being killed instead.
Samimi watched from nearby, seeing Fabiana manage to suppress her anger, and couldn’t help but show an appreciative expression.
Among these messed-up former teammates, the only one Samimi could admire was the Pure White Knight after she had grown.
She was indeed developing along the original plot’s Kingdom War Marshal path.
“Heh, you have nothing to say, do you? Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”
Count Perry laughed loudly, thinking he had won.
“Your son is dead, and you seem quite happy. Looks like you didn’t really need that son.”
Fabiana finally opened her mouth to retort.
