Lin Mo carried Song Xue’er in his arms, one hand supporting her back and the other cradling her legs, desperately running forward.
The weight of the girl in his arms was unexpectedly light, and coupled with Lin Mo’s considerable strength, he barely felt her presence.
At times, he even had the illusion that she might have slipped out of his grasp while running.
“Whew… you almost got me killed…”
Only after putting some distance between them and the zombies did Lin Mo finally relax, speaking to Song Xue’er with a sigh.
“Did I ask you to come back?”
Song Xue’er, meanwhile, was blushing furiously, her body stiff and unsure whether to move or stay still.
Before this, she had never even held hands with a boy, let alone been carried-especially in a princess carry.
How could she not feel utterly embarrassed?
“Should I throw you back there now?”
Lin Mo shot her an exasperated look.
So, he risked his life to save her, and now she was blaming him?
“You wouldn’t dare?!”
Song Xue’er gasped, immediately clutching his clothes tightly, terrified he might actually do it.
“Just messing with you. Look how scared you are.”
Lin Mo scoffed. If Song Xue’er hadn’t helped him earlier, he wouldn’t have bothered going back to take such a risk…
Yeah, that was definitely the reason—absolutely not because he had seen her cute face looking helpless and pitiful, making him act on impulse!
With Lin Mo’s speed, losing the zombies was no challenge at all.
In less than a minute, they were completely out of sight.
Without a target to chase, the zombies slowed down, looking confused and aimless.
However, not long after, as if summoned, they all turned and began shuffling back the way they came…
After running a bit further, Lin Mo finally spotted a narrow alley up ahead.
Slowing his pace, thanks to his impressive stamina (a result of his high physical stats), he wasn’t even winded despite the distance covered.
He strode into the alley with ease.
This place must have been a residential area before-now eerily quiet, devoid of both zombies and people.
Lin Mo glanced around before casually choosing one of the houses and heading toward it.
“Hey, um…”
Song Xue’er suddenly spoke up, her voice hesitant.
“Have you… had enough of carrying me?”
Her face was flushed, making her look even more adorable.
“Huh?”
Lin Mo froze, only now realizing he was still holding her.
Startled, he quickly set her down, his own face burning with awkwardness.
If this was Song Xue’er’s first time being carried by a boy, it was also Lin Mo’s first time holding a girl.
With his reclusive personality, he had never actively befriended anyone—male or female—and since he spent all his time holed up in his dorm, no girls had ever approached him either.
Aside from his classmates, he was practically invisible at school.
The houses here were old, single-story buildings.
Though the doors were locked, they were flimsy.
Lin Mo gave one a solid kick, and the already weak door flew inward under his unnatural strength.
Beside him, Song Xue’er covered her slightly parted lips with a hand, eyes wide in shock.
After a long pause, she finally murmured, “You… monster…”
Lin Mo immediately felt a headache, but he didn’t say anything.
With physical attributes four times that of an average person, he far surpassed even the most elite athletes in every aspect―being called a monster wasn’t far off the mark.
Stepping inside, Lin Mo casually dealt with the two Zombies inside, tossing them out the door before barricading it with furniture.
Then he collapsed onto the bed, exhaustion written all over his face, ignoring the faint sounds of Zombies pounding on the door next door.
So much had happened in less than half a day.
Though physically unaffected, Lin Mo felt mentally drained.
Now that he could finally relax, he lay on the bed with no desire to move and soon fell asleep.
If Lin Mo was this exhausted, Song Xue’er was naturally even more worn out.
With both body and mind now at ease, drowsiness washed over her like a tidal wave.
Her eyes, barely staying open, fluttered shut as she stumbled toward the nearest bed and collapsed onto it, sinking into deep slumber the next moment…
