With this plan in place, much of the gloom pressing on their hearts was dispelled.
They regained their spirits and returned to the cave dwelling.
Mu Chenxi began to focus on healing her injuries, while Bai Yue racked her brain, pondering the next countermeasures.
Both of them anxiously awaited the arrival of the next night.
When the moonlight once again bathed the land, they were already prepared.
Maintaining the same posture as before, Mu Chenxi leaned peacefully into Bai Yue’s embrace, closed her eyes, and welcomed that familiar drowsiness, sinking into the Dreamscape.
Just like last time, when she opened her eyes, she found herself already there.
Master Bai Yue was right in front of her, meeting her gaze.
“Chenxi, remember the secret codes.”
This time, Bai Yue spoke with no wasted words, her expression serious.
“Okay.”
Mu Chenxi nodded solemnly.
“You have to remember—Palace Jade Spirit Wine, 181 per glass.”
“Also, remember, the most impressive thing about Dongbei Yujie is her jade foot.”
“And remember, the owner of Hongyun Qitian Gu is Tingzhen.”
“And the race of Big Stomach is the Weizhen Clan.”
“And…”
To be safe, Bai Yue rattled off a whole list of things in one breath—these were all running jokes that couldn’t possibly exist in this world.
She said so many mainly because she was worried that if the Divine Calculator had left similar knowledge on the Heavenly Secrets Stone, her method of verification would fail.
Bai Yue hadn’t even finished listing all her carefully prepared jokes when a pitch-black spatial rift tore open in the sky, and a menacing Fire Demon slowly crawled out.
However, Bai Yue, pressed for time, spoke quickly and didn’t even notice the arrival of the Fire Demon.
It was Mu Chenxi who sensed it, but she ignored it and continued to listen intently to the jokes.
The Fire Demon saw Bai Yue speaking seriously about things it couldn’t understand at all and thought it must be some secret from beyond the heavens.
Instead of attacking, it hovered in the air, all four eyes wide, focusing intently.
And so, Bai Yue spent a whole minute telling jokes, causing the violent Nascent Soul Stage Fire Demon to stand frozen in place for a full minute.
“Damn it! What the hell is this gibberish?! Die, damn it!”
The Fire Demon felt it was being made a fool of and instantly flew into a rage.
It opened its bloody maw, and a huge fireball surged out. In a blast of fury, Bai Yue and Mu Chenxi were reduced to ashes.
This time, death came quickly and painlessly for Chenxi.
In reality, Mu Chenxi suddenly opened her eyes, looking at Bai Yue with excitement.
“Master, I received all your secret codes—and I memorized them all!”
“Then… let me test you.”
Bai Yue suppressed her excitement and began the verification.
“Mm!”
“If Hakimi lost all his limbs, what would he become?”
“Hakiten.”
“What’s the favorite sport of the middle-parted overall brother?”
“Playing basketball.”
“Where is it most dangerous to drink Mixue Bingcheng?”
“On top of the Oriental Pearl Tower.”

Bai Yue fired off one question after another, and Mu Chenxi answered the jokes fluently.
Although she didn’t understand their meaning, she felt they seemed quite powerful.
“Master, these codes seem to contain some strange power. Can you explain them to me?”
Mu Chenxi asked curiously.
Bai Yue was stunned, then burst out laughing and crying at the same time.
“These… are just meaningless nonsense. There’s no need to explain them.”
“But…”
Mu Chenxi was puzzled.
“That Nascent Soul Stage Fire Demon was mesmerized by them, and only attacked us after you finished speaking.”
“That’s probably because these words are too strange and abstract…”
Bai Yue speculated with a helpless smile.
“Maybe it wanted to glean some secret, only to find it was all useless nonsense, so it became furious…”
“So that’s how it is.”
Mu Chenxi nodded in disappointment, thinking she’d found a way to restrain the Fire Demon.
“Don’t pay any mind to this nonsense.”
Bai Yue’s eyes sparkled.
“Since we really can influence and observe the future, I have a new plan!”
“What new plan?”
Mu Chenxi asked quickly.
“We’ll return to the Violet Blossom Secret Realm and investigate the secret of the tombstone there.”
“Perhaps, there’s really a predecessor’s inheritance left there that can help us break the impasse!”
“Alright! Let’s set off now!”
Mu Chenxi said, preparing to summon her flying sword.
“No, no need to set off.”
Bai Yue stopped her, explaining, “As long as we fix this plan in our hearts, our future selves will act on it. We just need to wait here until the next night—the outcome will come naturally.”
“So that’s how it is.”
Mu Chenxi realized.
The two returned to the cave dwelling.
Mu Chenxi resumed healing, while Bai Yue continued to ponder at her side.
When night fell again, they sat together under the moonlight as usual.
Mu Chenxi tried to fall asleep as before.
But this time, she did not enter the ‘real Dreamscape’.
Only a blurred image flashed through her mind.
Before that blood-stained tombstone, she and Master were pierced by swords and turned into two hedgehogs.
“What’s wrong?”
Bai Yue saw Mu Chenxi hadn’t fallen asleep and was instead frowning deeply, so she couldn’t help but ask.
“Master, the tombstone in the Violet Blossom Secret Realm can’t be touched.”
Mu Chenxi opened her eyes, speaking with lingering fear.
“I saw… we triggered the restriction and died in front of the tombstone.”
“Sigh… As expected… That’s the fate of tomb raiders…”
Bai Yue sighed.
The reason she hadn’t set out immediately was also because of this concern.
She hadn’t expected the worst outcome to actually occur, wasting a precious night.
“Master, is there any other way?”
Mu Chenxi still chose to trust Bai Yue unconditionally.
“There is.”
Bai Yue pondered for a moment, her eyes turning resolute.
“When dawn breaks, we’ll set out for the Ancient Battlefield and search for a chance to break the deadlock there.”
The Ancient Battlefield was a place of both danger and opportunity.
To survive, Bai Yue could only choose to take a gamble.
“This time… are we not just planning in our hearts, but actually setting out?”
Mu Chenxi asked.
Bai Yue explained, “The Ancient Battlefield is too vast, and the opportunities are elusive and uncertain. We must go ourselves to attempt more within the limited time.”
“Mm, I’ll follow Master.”
Mu Chenxi nodded, looking up at the moon in the sky.
The moon was growing dimmer, meaning even less time remained for them.
A sense of urgency welled up within her, and she instinctively gripped Bai Yue’s hand tightly.
“Don’t worry.”
Bai Yue gently squeezed her hand in return, comforting her softly.
She also silently prayed in her heart, hoping her luck would be better and that she could truly find a way to break through in the Ancient Battlefield.
By dawn, Mu Chenxi’s injuries had mostly healed, and her Nascent Soul Stage combat power was restored.
That was a piece of good news.
She took Bai Yue and transformed into Flowing Light, flying toward the direction of the Ancient Battlefield.
Two hours later, Mu Chenxi suddenly stopped.
Her gaze fell upon an unremarkable small mountain in the distance.
