What Is Kres Hiding?
Gabriella looked at Kres.
“Does Lateshia also have to pledge loyalty to the god of [Holy Feather]?”
Kres shook her head, seeming disappointed with humanity.
“It is not so. The humans of this world have not yet matured. As human faith increases, under the guidance of the gods they can develop, and magical technology can progress. This world is clearly still lacking.”
Gabriella nodded.
In the end, it all came down to the distribution of power.
Kres placed her hand atop Gabriella’s head.
“But you can make them believe in you, Gabriella. As long as you can make the Saint King believe in the gods, in ninety years this world will also worship you, and the problem of the false god can be solved.”
“Why doesn’t Miss Kres establish faith herself?”
Gabriella tilted her head and asked. She was asking not only for information but also out of genuine curiosity.
Kres was so powerful, yet she had almost no intention of interfering with humans.
Besides Olivia, perhaps only she—as her daughter—could ask this question.
Now, they knew very little about Kres’s information.
Except for Olivia, Kres had answered all the previous questions. But when it came to this, Kres fell silent once more.
Her eyes occasionally glanced at Gabriella, occasionally at the floor.
The hand stroking Gabriella’s head moved more urgently, as if intense mental activity was occurring within her.
Kres was not without emotions. It was simply that her emotions were as thin as the air atop a high mountain.
Over these past few days, she had gradually become enthusiastic and easygoing, as if a cold stone slab was slowly gaining warmth.
This time, a relatively obvious emotion appeared on her face.
It was a kind of anxiety, and also a kind of worry—very complex, very prolonged—as if it ran through Kres’s very soul.
It was as though the previous sentence had touched her heart, making her recall many unacceptable things.
“These matters cannot be told to you yet.”
“Is that so?” Gabriella nodded.
She did not intend to press Kres, but it was obvious this reason had a great deal to do with Kres.
Kres shook her head.
“If I were to say it, I fear you would not understand me.”
“Why do you care about this matter? Also, you still have not told me your identity~”
“I am a god.”
Kres’s tone and pitch did not change, but her voice grew smaller, seemingly related to her abilities as well.
“Gabriella has already guessed it, has she not?”
“It is different.”
“As expected. No wonder Miss Kres is indeed different from everyone else.”
Kres once again gave Gabriella a smile, as if she had secretly learned it from Olivia to show off.
Gabriella smiled faintly.
Gabriella suddenly felt that teasing Kres was quite difficult.
She truly did not know how Olivia had managed to win over this girl.
Yet whenever the topic turned to the relationship between the two of them, Kres’s eyes would light up with a joy comparable to Olivia’s.
That kind of emotion was the doting love of a mother for her daughter.
Kres was different from before.
At this moment, the conversation ended.
Olivia seemed to have noticed the topic here long ago.
She walked over and lightly touched Kres’s head.
“What were you talking about with our daughter?”
“Still the previous matters.”
“Don’t raise her crookedly~”
Kres nodded.
This straightforward appearance of hers was sometimes rather cute.
After the conversation ended, Gabriella did not continue to linger, nor did she continue guessing. She left together with the others.
Only then did Isabella walk out from inside, a smile hanging on her lips as if she had just thought of many mischievous ideas.
After explaining that the captain had something temporary to attend to, the group departed early. Kres cast a glance her way, clearly somewhat suspicious of Isabella.
By this time, Saint King Simona had also finished her conversation with Queen Monasta.
Several people boarded the same carriage.
The Saint King’s carriage compartment was the most luxurious and noble.
Riding in it felt more like being inside a grand temple than in a mere carriage.
Under the escort of the royal knight guard, several carriages nearly identical in shape to the ones they had arrived in moved forward, resembling a mobile hotel at present.
Lateshia sat on the sofa with her legs crossed.
Her pink hair shimmered like a gem emitting a pearly glow under the sunlight.
“Good morning, Miss Silver White Sword Emperor~”
“Miss Lateshia.”
Gabriella nodded.
She was currently sitting on the sofa opposite the queen.
Meanwhile, the originally mischievous idiot Kres and Isabella now looked like proper royal knights, standing guard on Gabriella’s left and right sides.
Olivia, however, was with the Saint King in the frontmost driving compartment of the carriage, seemingly having something private to discuss.
Beside Miss Lateshia was a young girl serving as a guard, though she was not a knight.
She wore a triangular black mask, revealing only her captivating cherry lips, which made it difficult to discern her magic power and appearance.
Her cyan hair was tied up in a small bun, with two thick, soft strands framing her temples.
A white hairpin was inserted into the bun. Under her deep blue ceremonial skirt, black tights wrapped her long, slender legs.
She and Lateshia emanated the same aura……
Clearly, both of them were hiding their appearances and strength.
Such clumsy hiding had no effect on the strong, but it did affect judgment.
Lateshia’s gaze shifted to the city scenery moving past the window.
The artificial river channel paved with white stone bricks was crystal clear to the bottom.
Ripples around the sailboats resembled silvery-white fish scales.
Several birds perched on the treetops, observing the sturdy mechanical horse.
Her gaze moved to Gabriella.
“Miss Silver White Sword Emperor, do you recognize me?”
She turned her gaze back.
“We perhaps met a few times ten years ago, but those are all past matters.”
“Ah~ I also do not remember clearly. That was such a long time ago……”
A faint smile hung on Lateshia’s lips. She took a sip of milk tea and gave the masked guard a meaningful look.
The latter gently nodded in understanding, as if they shared some secret code.
“Miss Saint King is the most outstanding human I have seen. She has arranged everything regarding humanity in perfect order…… By the way, what do you think of this city?”
“You mean the Saint King’s Capital?”
“Mm. You have seen such a prosperous scene, correct? Yes, with the development of magical technology, humans enjoy abundant clothing and food like never before……”
“It’s not bad.”
Gabriella gave a perfunctory answer with an expressionless face.
“Looking at this city puts me in quite a good mood.”
Lateshia did not set down her teacup. At an angle difficult to detect, her gaze sharpened slightly.
“Truly an unexpected answer.”
This queen from the southern continent. Gabriella remained silent. She once again sized up Lateshia.
Just as Gabriella was about to ask something, the carriage came to a stop.
Two royal knights opened the carriage doors.
“Let us part here, Miss Gabriella. We shall meet again.”
“Goodbye.”
Lateshia’s figure disappeared into the bustling streets of the Saint King’s Capital.
