“If you move, I’ll kill her,” the Brown-robed Man said.
“Pig-B, have you ever watched those police-and-bandit shootout movies from that one place in the south?” Yin Lin asked, suddenly bringing up an unrelated topic.
“What do you mean? What police-and-bandit movies?” The Brown-robed Man clearly disliked the name “Pig-B.”
“I mean, I don’t understand why in those movies, they always point guns at each other but nobody ever fires. It just seems so stupid and inexplicable.”
Yin Lin was nearly finished with the Spear of Heaven spell.
The Brown-robed Man finally realized what she was doing. He quickly crouched down, the cannon’s muzzle practically pressed against Lu Ye’s head, ready to fire at any moment. “I really will kill her! Is your magic faster, or is my gun?”
Yin Lin finally completed the Spear of Heaven. She aimed and shouted, “And you still claim you aren’t a Pig-B? Who has time to stand around and chat with you? You even gave me time to charge my spell. Thank you, Pig-B. Goodbye, Pig-B.”
The Spear of Heaven shot out with incredible speed. The Brown-robed Man tried to dodge, but his body couldn’t keep up with his brain’s commands.
The Spear of Heaven pierced through his chest, sending a large spray of blood everywhere.
In the end, he never fired. In the final moments of his life, his only thoughts were, ‘How can I survive? How can I run? How do I avoid that magic?’
As for shooting Lu Ye? What would have been the point?
Yin Lin conjured another Spear of Heaven in the air and sent it straight through the Brown-robed Man’s head, blowing it apart to ensure the man was dead. Only then did she lower her altitude and land on the ground.
Lu Ye was still trapped in the power grid, twitching in a state similar to being electrocuted.
Yin Lin ignored her, letting her continue to sizzle.
The sound of human aircraft was approaching from above. It was either the Special Task Force or the Failure Team.
Yin Lin quickly stripped the robe off the man to examine his appearance.
He was a human, and he looked ordinary enough. Unfortunately, his head had been obliterated, making it impossible to see his face.
Noticing an earpiece on his ear, she snatched it off and put it on her own.
“Hello? Hello, Sir. I’m a real estate agent. We have a sea-view property available; would you like to consider it?” Yin Lin joked into the earpiece.
She continued searching the Brown-robed Man’s body, wanting to clear the area before the Eastern Union arrived.
To make matters worse, Yin Lin sensed the magical energy of a Strange Demon. It had used some kind of spell and was approaching at high speed.
Given that speed, it was likely a flying-type Force Demon rather than a land-based one.
She had no choice but to speed up her search.
At that moment, the energy in the grid holding Lu Ye ran out, and the electricity stopped.
Dribbling saliva and panting for breath, Lu Ye crawled out of the net. She tried to stand but lacked the strength, so she sat back down to rest.
“You… honestly, what’s that idiom? Something about a spider? The one that describes being obsessed with revenge,” Lu Ye said, her teeth clenched in anger.
“Petty and vindictive,” Yin Lin offered, completing the idiom for her.
After fully stripping the Brown-robed Man, she found whip marks on his body—the ones Lu Ye had delivered.
They were only minor injuries, which was impossible for a normal human’s physical durability.
Yin Lin tried lifting her staff like a club and smashed it down onto the corpse. She could feel how hard the body was. It definitely wasn’t rigor mortis, as he had only been dead for one minute.
The only explanation was that there was something wrong with the Brown-robed Man’s physical toughness.
The man carried nothing extra—no jewelry, no markings, and certainly no ID or phone.
Yin Lin took out her phone and photographed the man’s clothes and appearance, as well as those strange guns.
“A Strange Demon is coming. We need to go,” Lu Ye said, having finally sensed the approaching threat. She added in surprise, “So fast… that thing seems to be a flying-type Force Demon, and its level isn’t low.”
As she spoke, the Eastern Union personnel arrived. They were using single-person Multi-rotor Aircraft.
Those devices had poor endurance and even worse weight capacity.
Yin Lin prepared another Spear of Heaven, staying on guard.
Having finished her business there, she was about to flee.
A massive, glowing spherical spell appeared on the horizon. It was fired by the Force Demon, aimed high into the sky.
A few seconds later, it hit something. A violent explosion erupted above the clouds, illuminating the heavens.
It was a brilliant firework, with a brightness roughly 30% that of Yin Lin’s full-power magic cannon.
The light was so intense not just because of the spell’s explosion, but because it had destroyed a transport plane in the air. The combined explosions created the spectacular glow.
By that light, Yin Lin could see exactly who was in the air.
Those uniforms belonged to the Special Task Force.
They hovered in mid-air, staring in shock at the destroyed transport plane.
They couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. If they hadn’t descended and had stayed on the plane, they would be dead right now.
Fortunately, they had received an intercept order from the Countermeasure Center, allowing them to escape disaster.
But had they really escaped?
The man who looked like the captain wore a pained, constipated expression. He immediately began directing the squad, ordering everyone to quickly scavenge the body of the man Yin Lin had killed. They had to take the corpse and, more importantly, the equipment.
Originally, this mission was supposed to stop Yin Lin and Lu Ye from killing the Brown-robed Man, capture them all, and bring them back to the Research Institute.
He hadn’t expected Magical Girl Yin Lin to be so decisive. Violating the Pirate-Naruto-Shinigami Principle, she hadn’t wasted any time on pre-battle dialogue or verbal sparring.
By the time the Failure Team landed, the Brown-robed Man was already dead.
Since he was dead, they had to at least bring back the body and equipment to fulfill their duty.
In the end, Yin Lin seemed to be acting against them on purpose. She took the weapon that fired the Dark Light Cannon and even grabbed the recoilless gun that fired the large nets.
Even more infuriatingly, the silver-haired girl looked up at them and stuck out her tongue.
She had clearly guessed the Special Task Force was there to scavenge loot. Originally, Yin Lin hadn’t intended to take the equipment, but seeing that they wanted it, she took it on purpose—even the nets.
She was purely trying to mess with them.
“Damn it, one day I’m going to make you girls cry!” the captain swore through gritted teeth.
He hurriedly directed his squad to land and move the corpse.
Yin Lin and Lu Ye also took flight, wanting to leave immediately.
They clearly had no desire to fight that unknown flying Force Demon.
The Special Task Force didn’t want to fight either; they planned to take the body and run.
The problem was, everyone was heading for the same place.
Their Multi-rotor Aircraft couldn’t fly all the way back to Tomorrow City, so they all had to flee toward the forest farm subway station, looking quite pathetic.
Yin Lin and Lu Ye naturally didn’t stay in the air. They also headed for the subway station, fearing they would be hunted down by that flying Force Demon.
