“So you want me to go with you?”
Lin Mo asked.
“Exactly!”
Song Xue’er nodded.
“You’re so strong in combat. With you along, our chances of successfully getting food would be much higher.”
“Alright!”
Lin Mo didn’t refuse and nodded.
“Just let me know when you’re ready to set out.”
He had no reason to refuse.
Aside from food being essential, Lin Mo checked his experience bar – 8/10.
Just two more zombies and he could level up again, which would further enhance his attributes.
If it weren’t for the fact that he couldn’t see any zombies around, he would have actively sought them out already.
“No need to rush… It’s almost dark now. Let’s rest for the night and discuss the details tomorrow,” Song Xue’er replied.
“Fine, I’ll take my leave then. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
Lin Mo nodded.
“Wait-hold on…”
Just as Lin Mo had taken a couple of steps, Song Xue’er suddenly called out.
“Bring your things up to the fifth floor with you.”
“Got it.”
Without further ado, Lin Mo agreed.
With his current abilities, going up to the fifth floor wasn’t an issue.
More importantly, he didn’t want to stay on the fourth floor-the pervasive negativity there made it uncomfortable.
Though she mentioned bringing things, after the food had been confiscated earlier, the only thing Lin Mo had left to carry was a fire axe.
Returning to the classroom on the third floor where the group had been staying, Lin Mo noticed an additional person there.
“You are…?”
Lin Mo looked at the person with a haughty expression and asked.
“Lin Mo, this is the friend I mentioned earlier the one I called. His name is Zhao Zitian,” the other boy introduced.
“And you are?”
Zhao Zitian frowned at Lin Mo, displeased by his indifferent demeanor.
“Zitian, this is Lin Mo. We owe it to him that we made it here…”
“Oh.”
Zhao Zitian gave Lin Mo a once-over, his gaze lingering on his slender frame before his face twisted into a look of disdain.
Someone like this clearly wasn’t much of a fighter.
He responded with a lukewarm tone, “Don’t worry. Since you came with my roommate, you’re all my brothers now. I know the student council president, and I’m familiar with the higher-ups too.
I’ll talk to them later and arrange for you to move up to the fifth floor… The food and safety there are leagues better than this fourth floor.”
Lin Mo frowned. From Zhao Zitian’s words, it was clear that food distribution wasn’t equal—some got more, some less, some better, some worse.
A class system?
Not surprising. Even before the apocalypse, society had been divided into hierarchies.
On the surface, everyone was equal, but after the apocalypse, who knew if that equality could hold?
And if government rescue still didn’t come after a long time…
Lin Mo couldn’t imagine what would happen then.
With the shackles of law and morality gone, human nature would erupt unchecked.
What would the world become?
The danger wouldn’t just come from zombies anymore…
Shaking his head, Lin Mo didn’t dwell on it too much.
No matter how the world changed, as long as he kept growing stronger, he wouldn’t have to worry about survival!
At this moment, the others gathered around Zhao Zitian, offering both gratitude and flattery.
Only Lin Mo stood aside motionless, lost in his own thoughts.
Zhao Zitian had been enjoying the adulation from the crowd, but seeing Lin Mo’s attitude, a surge of anger rose within him. He had helped this worthless guy, yet he still acted so arrogantly.
“Hmph, another idiot who hasn’t woken up from the peaceful era… Let’s see how you die next…” he thought to himself.
