Gabriella found the name somewhat familiar.
Creis began introducing the mansion to Gabriella.
The building had three floors in total.
The third floor contained two bedrooms, a master bedroom, a café, a library, and an office.
One room was filled with musical instruments and even had a device similar to a gramophone.
Every floor had storage rooms and bathrooms.
The kitchen and dining area were mainly on the second floor.
The sunlight here was perfect.
After all, humans did not share the demons’ slight aversion to sunlight.
The entire Demon Domain’s sky was covered by a thick layer of mana, keeping the Demon King’s Castle and most of the Demon Domain in perpetual dimness.
Now, seeing the bright glass and the rainbow light refracted from the cups on the living room table, Gabriella felt momentarily unaccustomed.
But before they could head downstairs, Creis cautiously stepped closer and stopped.
Her gaze shifted.
Then she looked at Gabriella.
“Your body is in very poor condition.”
“Poor condition?” Gabriella gave her a vague answer.
“Olivia told me that your… your body has been eroded by the Evil God and your power has been drained. You need a long period of rest and recovery.”
Gabriella ignored her.
Yet she suddenly felt her body grow lighter as Creis grabbed her sleeve.
“I’ll help you downstairs.”
“I’m not so weak that I need that.” Gabriella’s voice carried a hint of coldness, as if she were being unfriendly.
Seeing this, Creis stopped advancing and simply followed behind.
Although this so-called Celestial God showed almost none of a maid’s cuteness, she seemed to be trying her hardest to act professional.
Still, Gabriella found the whole situation rather strange.
Exactly what excuse had Olivia used to convince the Celestial God—and even make her genuinely believe that Gabriella was truly ill?
Ever since her demon body had become pregnant, Gabriella had reduced her use of shadow to prevent her internal mana from falling into chaos.
She remembered all too clearly the pain that came with mana instability.
Her silly Master had promised to take responsibility for her.
“Gabriella?”
“I’m fine.”
Creis’s voice made Gabriella quicken her steps.
As they descended the stairs, Gabriella had originally planned to take a look around the dining room.
But halfway there, an unexpected sight greeted her.
Two maids stood at the bottom of the staircase near the window, chatting about something.
They were petite—even slightly smaller than Elsa—and wore the exact same maid uniforms as those in the inner palace.
However, just like Creis, both maidens were clearly human.
The red-haired maiden tilted her head.
Her gentle, water-like eyes were fixed on the other small maid with brown hair.
She gently stroked the girl’s cheek, trying to calm her, but it only made the flush on the other maiden’s face even more obvious and left far too much to the imagination.
“Philina, i-is this okay?”
Shining Saint Morphis—or rather, the maiden who had once been known as Shining Saint Morphis—said to the girl before her.
Her voice was full of determination, but her uneasy eyes, the way her legs pressed together and curled up beneath the white stockings, and the deep blush on her face all betrayed her nervousness.
The shame of wearing the maid uniform was written clearly across her features.
“But Morphis, you already look like a very pretty maid now.”
“But why do we have to dress up as maids…”
“Of course it’s for Lady Gabriella. She needs to rest and recover right now. If we showed up as stiff, icy knights, it would only make her tense~”
“Does that mean she’s… p-pregnant?”
Disbelief danced in Morphis’s eyes.
She seemed to have realized something, but her face grew even redder.
Looking at Philina’s delighted gaze, she asked in a tiny voice.
“Shining Saint, Miss Philina.”
Gabriella’s arrival cut off the two maidens’ conversation.
They both turned around.
Philina took a step forward.
After straightening her appearance, her delicate cheeks looked even more appetizing.
Her petite frame had become an advantage, complementing her mature aura in an indescribably cute way.
A red bow adorned her little leather shoes—it looked like something Morphis had given her.
“Gabriella, my lady~”
Philina’s voice was unchanged, but she no longer seemed as nervous as before.
Moreover, Gabriella could sense that she had already been eroded by shadow.
She had been cursed with demonification.
On the surface, however, she was still just a maid.
Gabriella remembered that back in the inner palace, Philina had not yet adapted to her environment and had spoken with a slight tremble—just like Morphis right now.
The current Philina looked as if she had accepted something and fully adjusted.
The resistance and fear in her eyes had vanished, replaced by a sense of obedience.
It was as if she had been born to follow a maid’s duties and took genuine delight in the work.
In contrast, Shining Saint Morphis still appeared quite inexperienced.
A few light golden chains connected to her waist cincher held the book known as the [Prayers].
Her eyes unconsciously drifted down toward the floor.
“G-Gabriella, Silver-White Sword Empress, my lady…”
Morphis imitated Philina’s gesture, lifting the hem of her skirt and bending her knees slightly.
It was a little clumsy, but still quite adorable.
Gabriella stepped forward and patted both Philina and Morphis on the head.
Their delicate bodies trembled once before they nodded in response.
“By the way, why are you two here too?!” Gabriella sounded a little helpless.
She remembered she had only been asleep for less than half a day!
The outside world seemed to have undergone a complete upheaval, leaving her barely able to keep up.
Never mind the maid uniforms—unless she was mistaken, Morphis was a high-ranking member of the priest corps as the Shining Saint.
As one of the Four Saints, was it really all right for her to just become a maid on a whim?!
“They have both joined the Royal Knight Order.” Creis suddenly spoke from behind her.
“That’s correct. This is the best and safest place to protect Lady Silver-White Sword Empress. If anything were to happen to you, humanity itself would be in danger.”
Philina spoke with complete seriousness, as if it were perfectly normal and reasonable for knights—or even the Celestial God herself—to serve as maids.
Seeming to sense that her explanation was not yet convincing enough for Gabriella, Philina added:
“Holy Queen Simona gave us these orders herself.”
“Lady Gabriella, please feel free to command us~”
Gabriella nodded.
Now she understood.
