After making an agreement with Lu Yunze, Jiang Sui really did stop bothering him and went to take care of her own matters instead.
When the Black Cat asked whether it was really okay to just leave him alone like that, Jiang Sui answered confidently:
‘If you want to truly win his heart, you have to give him some personal space. If you suffocate him, he might end up leaning toward Luo Yao instead.’
That was something Jiang Sui would absolutely not allow.
Although not being able to keep an eye on Lu Yunze made her uneasy, for the sake of her long-term plan, she chose to endure it.
As for what else she had to do, it was naturally related to the fortune teller she had encountered at the amusement park last time.
Even though the Black Cat had said she would investigate them, she seemed to have made no progress after so many days, so Jiang Sui decided to check things out herself.
She still remembered what was written on the postcard the fortune teller had given her. She searched for a place called the Constellation Divination Club on her phone—and to her surprise, she actually found it.
Was this place seriously legal?
The more she thought about it, the stranger it felt. So that very day, Jiang Sui set out to investigate.
On the way, she spotted Lu Yunze out shopping—and Luo Yao sneaking behind him.
Jiang Sui was stunned.
Luo Yao… was following him?
She hadn’t planned to interfere, but since she had run into this, she couldn’t just ignore it.
Jiang Sui immediately changed her objective and began tailing Luo Yao, curious about what they were up to.
Lu Yunze and the fortune teller walked in front, Luo Yao followed behind them, and Jiang Sui followed behind Luo Yao. The three formed a strangely synchronized chain.
Whenever Lu Yunze stopped, both Luo Yao and Jiang Sui stopped as well. When he moved again, they followed.
Maintaining this odd formation, they passed through three streets before finally reaching their destination—the same place Jiang Sui had intended to visit: the Constellation Divination Club.
Watching them enter one after another, Jiang Sui frowned and followed.
The interior of the club was cleaner than she expected. It resembled a bright bar decorated with a starry theme.
A few scattered customers sat together, sipping drinks and chatting about divination.
As soon as she entered, a friendly attendant approached to serve her—mainly to promote their fortune tellers.
Looking at the extensive price list, Jiang Sui felt lucky that she had only ordered a free glass of water.
She saw Luo Yao, wearing a long coat, head up to the second floor. Jiang Sui immediately got up to follow, but the attendant stopped her at the stairwell.
“Miss, the second floor is a VIP area. Only club members with VIP status can enter.”
Following the direction indicated, Jiang Sui saw the price required to become a VIP—and it was enough to make her heart ache.
There was another way to get in without paying: be recommended by a fortune teller here. That was how Lu Yunze got upstairs.
Luo Yao, on the other hand, paid on the spot and became a new VIP.
As for Jiang Sui, she decided it would be better to sneak in some other way. There was no need to waste money.
In a place like this, as long as there was a window, she had a way in.
Just as she turned to leave, a hand suddenly appeared in front of her.
She turned and saw a man wearing a wide-brimmed hat, his face hidden beneath the lowered brim.
He held a drink in one hand, and between two fingers of the other hand was a glossy black VIP card.
“Take it.”
“Who are you? Why help me?” Jiang Sui asked.
“Just a passerby who likes helping others,” the man chuckled. “If I say I don’t want outsiders looking down on our club, is that a good enough reason?”
For some reason, Jiang Sui didn’t feel any hostility from him. Instead, there was a strange sense of familiarity, as if he were someone she could trust.
She took the card, and the attendant immediately stepped aside, allowing her to go up to the second floor.
Meanwhile, the man, still drinking, pulled out his phone and made a call.
“Hello, police?”
The second floor was much more enclosed than the first. To her surprise, there were no windows at all.
A long corridor stretched ahead, lined with private rooms. Jiang Sui wanted to find Lu Yunze and Luo Yao, but she didn’t know which direction to go.
“Hehehe!”
Hearing cheers from the distance, she hurried toward the sound.
Peeking through a slightly opened door, she found a spacious hall inside.
A crowd had gathered, watching something.
At the far end, on an elevated platform, stood a fortune teller with a glowing crystal ball on the table before him.
“Everyone has seen it—this is the miracle of God!”
Jiang Sui recognized the object and quickly averted her gaze, making sure she didn’t fall for it like she had at the amusement park.
What was this? Some kind of illegal gathering?
She continued observing while searching for Lu Yunze.
“Since you’ve all witnessed God’s miracle, what are you hesitating for? Accept the brand and become God’s people.”
As soon as the fortune teller spoke, the crowd responded with weak, drawn-out cries, as if they were half-asleep.
Jiang Sui spotted Lu Yunze—and Luo Yao as well. Both were in the crowd, clearly already affected.
“What are you doing, Lu Yunze?”
Looking ahead, she saw a long line of people stepping onto the stage one by one to receive what the fortune teller called the “brand.”
The process was simple: they removed their upper garments and stood before the fortune teller.
His assistants brought out the so-called “branding tool.” When the red cloth was lifted, Jiang Sui thought it was some kind of figurine—but its base was actually a seal emitting fluctuations of secret art.
Most importantly, she would never forget its shape—
Wasn’t that the King in Black Robes?!
The Black Star Cult again. Why were they behind everything?
Since crossing over into this world, almost every incident had involved them. Wasn’t the Luo Family supposed to be the main antagonist?
The fortune teller picked up the seal and pressed it onto a person’s chest. A sizzling sound followed until the same pattern appeared on their body.
Those branded wore manic smiles, as if intoxicated. After a few steps, they collapsed and were dragged away by assistants.
Jiang Sui originally intended to keep observing, but unfortunately, it was almost Lu Yunze’s turn.
Thinking about him being branded and turned into their puppet, she took a deep breath and muttered softly:
‘The only one allowed to leave an indelible mark on him is me. Who do you think you are?’
There was no time to hesitate. She pulled out a golden rhombus crystal and squeezed it until a crack formed.
Just as Lu Yunze was about to remove his shirt, something flew into the hall.
In the next instant, a blinding light erupted.
It was as if a sun had descended into the hall. Everyone covered their eyes.
The light overwhelmed the crystal ball’s glow. When it faded, people regained their senses and panicked.
“What’s going on?” the fortune teller shouted. “Who’s outside—”
Before he could finish, Lu Yunze—now fully conscious—lunged forward and pinned him to the ground.
“I should’ve known you had bad intentions.”
By the time Lu Yunze realized something was wrong with the crystal ball, it had been too late. He had thought he was doomed—but now he had a chance to fight back.
The fortune teller struggled and knocked over the table. The crystal ball rolled toward him.
Lu Yunze didn’t notice.
Just as the fortune teller reached for it, a gust of wind swept in, knocking it away and smashing it against the wall.
Lu Yunze turned and saw Luo Yao. They exchanged a nod.
The assistants rushed out from backstage, but before they could react, Luo Yao trapped them in a wind cage.
The hall descended into chaos. The confused crowd screamed and fled.
Soon, the hall was empty, leaving only Lu Yunze, Luo Yao, and the restrained fortune teller.
“Why are you here?” Lu Yunze asked, noticing Luo Yao’s strange outfit.
“Coincidence, just a coincidence,” Luo Yao said, blushing. “Look, I have a VIP card. I’ve been here before. It really is just a coincidence.”
She held up the card, eager to prove herself.
What a terrible lie.
Lu Yunze complained internally, then turned back to the fortune teller.
“Don’t think this is over,” the man sneered. “When my companions arrive, let’s see if you can still escape.”
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed outside.
Lu Yunze and Luo Yao prepared themselves, while the fortune teller smirked.
“Police! Don’t move! Hands up!”
But instead of accomplices, a group of armed officers burst in.
An awkward silence fell over the scene.
Lu Yunze and Luo Yao exchanged a glance, then looked at the fortune teller.
He froze, then forced a charming smile.
“Well… actually, I’m a victim too. Let me explain—”
Lu Yunze gave a cold smile.
“Take this punch first.”
