Vyea had a long dream.
In the dream, she appeared openly and proudly as a Brave.
The sky, the blazing sun, the silver-armored Brave carrying twin swords on his back.
The silver-armored Brave stepped onto the red carpet amid a throng of people, climbing the stairs step by step toward the Rodel Royal Palace.
The Rodel Royal Palace was the largest and most luxurious royal city built by humanity after uniting to resist the demon beasts.
The red carpet stretched long, and countless people crowded around the silver-armored Brave. They seemed to be shouting someone’s name, some faces unfamiliar and indistinct, some friends often met, and some comrades worthy of trusting one’s back.
“Are they calling for me?”
Vyea wanted to stop and listen carefully to what name they were shouting, but her legs wouldn’t obey her.
On this long staircase paved with the red carpet, Vyea felt she had been walking for a very long time—long enough for her sense of time to blur, long enough for the blazing sun in the high sky to sink below the horizon and for the stars to hang high.
“Traveler from another world… please pause here for a moment.”
Time flowed, stars shifted, and Vyea saw herself summoned by the Human Empress from a six-pointed star triple magic array, called forth as the Brave to save the world.
“My name is Ye Chi, ‘Chi’ meaning swift,” said the silver-armored Brave.
At that moment, Vyea found herself at the end of the red carpet. She raised her head and gazed far and wide, trying to see through this world, to see through the world that had summoned her to be a Brave.
“Appointing me as a Brave—are they out of their minds? I’m just a worthless nobody, useless for anything!”
The newly arrived Vyea was modest and self-aware.
“It’s alright. Come to me.”
The gentle voice was like sunlight filtering through leaves, the sound of phoenix trees rustling in the breeze, like a whale breaching the sea and splashing waves.
The palace, with golden pillars and red walls, was shrouded in mist. The silver-armored Brave suddenly regained control of her limbs.
Through the obstructing mist, she vaguely saw the palace’s owner seated gracefully.
The owner had spoken, and the silver-armored Brave had no reason to refuse.
Without hesitation, she crossed the red carpet and continued forward, passing through one vermilion arched door after another. Finally, the silver-armored Brave saw the owner of the voice.
A girl sat by the hot spring pool. She did not bathe but simply dipped her snow-white calves in the water, lazily kicking at the surface.
This girl, hidden behind layers of red palace walls, was very beautiful. The pure white bathrobe fit snugly, outlining her balanced and slender figure.
The silver-armored Brave would never describe the girl as “sexy” or “alluring”—those words simply did not fit her.
The girl sat on the mist-wreathed hot spring stones, gazing over the myriad lights of the royal city below. Her fiery red hair fluttered in the evening breeze, exuding a dignified presence.
“My name is Dan Yan, and I am a swordsman.”
The girl smiled gently at the silver-armored Brave. “You can call me Ayan, and I will call you Brave Sir.”
No, no, no—I’m not fit to be a Brave at all!
The silver-armored Brave’s vigilance crumbled under the girl’s warm smile. She wanted to turn and run, but her legs failed to move.
“Oh… isn’t this exactly what happened on my first day here? It’s been so long that my memories are a bit hazy.”
The scene before her made Vyea sigh deeply.
“Thank you for helping me recall the past, but the dream should end now.”
The moment she realized she was dreaming, everything before Vyea froze, then shattered like a mirror with a crashing sound.
Darkness surged like a tide.
“Thanks to you, I’m no longer a Brave.”
Vyea slowly stood up and noticed the silver armor on her body had disappeared. She looked out into the abyss-like darkness ahead.
“What are you still hiding for?”
“Demon King, come out and face me!”
