“Mm, to put it simply: there are hall maids, cleaning maids, guard maids, and personal maids.”
Before dawn, while the sun had yet to rise, Gabriella was earnestly explaining the things a maid needed to pay attention to in the maids’ lounge.
Sitting across from her was her little sister.
Elsa was dressed in a black one-piece dress with a white apron tied around her slender waist by a satin ribbon.
The outfit accentuated her full figure beneath the dark fabric and the white stockings hugging her legs, creating a heart-racing silhouette.
She sat primly on the sofa, imitating her sister’s dignified posture; trying to look both graceful and adorably cute.
Yet the strict training of a holy knight refused to let her aura of authority fade completely.
The combination of stern dignity and maid-like charm produced a uniquely captivating charm.
Her eyes occasionally darted around the room, but mostly stayed fixed seriously on Gabriella.
She had been dragged out of bed extremely early by Gabriella to begin her first day of “maid work.”
So that Elsa could familiarize herself with the inner palace and residential areas of the Demon King’s Castle, Gabriella patiently explained:
“Your position is guard maid. Your main duty is protection, but you’ll also help the hall maids run errands and cook. And you’ll be cleaning parts of the residential palace together with me… Mm, did Liya already tell you?”
Elsa nodded.
Her stocking-clad legs were pressed tightly together; the feeling of not being protected by armor was indeed strange, but the soft wrapping sensation wasn’t bad.
She even felt a tiny bit of fondness for this thicker style of clothing; though only a tiny bit…
“Big Sister, what position are you?”
“I’m the personal maid. Didn’t Liya tell you?”
Elsa shook her head again.
She seemed to have something difficult to say, so she quickly changed the subject.
“What does a personal maid do?”
“I’m Lady Isabella’s personal maid. I take care of all her daily needs; food, clothing, everything. You could say I’m half secretary~?”
“That…”
Elsa’s mind instantly overheated.
She recalled the intimate way her sister behaved with the Demon King; even on the front lines, Gabriella openly displayed affection.
What must it be like in private?!
In private, weren’t they probably trying to make little demon babies already?
Her sister was probably already molded completely into the Demon King’s shape.
But Elsa refused to give up.
The reason she hadn’t resisted, hadn’t torn everything apart in a suicidal fight and forcibly escaped, was precisely because she believed she could still save her sister!
Her sister had forgotten the past; forgotten she had once been human, the legendary “Silver-White Sword Empress.”
She had to help her remember, so Gabriella would realize she was being controlled by the Demon King.
But right now, the power-sealing collar around her neck prevented her from using most of her strength.
“Big Sister Gabriella… I don’t want to be a guard maid. I want to work together with you…”
“Together with me?”
Gabriella gave an awkward little laugh. “Well… it’s pretty much the same. You’ll basically be following me around.”
“That’s perfect!”
Elsa tilted her head with a bright smile.
Soon, several maids brought in freshly prepared food and set it on the table; it was mealtime for the maids.
Elsa and Gabriella sat together, instantly drawing the attention of many demon maids.
They scrambled to sit near the two humans, openly studying the girl who looked so similar to Lady Gabriella~
“Lady Gabriella, is this your little sister?”
“Wow, she looks just as gentle and charming as you~”
“So cute… and really curvy too?”
“I’m jealous… humans can be this beautiful too…?”
Questions poured in one after another.
Gabriella answered them all with a smile.
Since they didn’t know what had happened at the front lines, she simply said Elsa was an obedient little sister she had “brought back” from the knight order; it was the easiest explanation.
But Elsa turned out to be far shyer than expected.
Gabriella could only smile helplessly.
The moment she stepped away, Elsa was immediately surrounded by several demon “big sisters” who began teasing her like a small animal.
Perhaps because both Gabriella and her sister looked petite and adorable, the sight of Gabriella’s little sister sent the demon maids into a frenzy of excitement!
“Elsa, want this candy?”
“Sure, can I touch your cheek…?”
“Please please! I’ll let you touch my tail!”
Elsa didn’t completely lose her composure.
She hated demons, but she was surprisingly good at acting.
She brushed off the silly maids with a calm tone, and even seemed quite practiced at it?
Apparently, she had been pretty popular on the human side too.
To prevent any incidents, Gabriella quickly pulled her sister out of the crowd and headed outside, planning to have her officially start maid duties.
Who knows, maybe in a few days she’ll have adjusted to the environment here.
…There’s no way my little sister actually has maid potential, right?
Just as Gabriella was thinking that, she ran into Liya.
Since they had to start preparing breakfast for the Demon King soon, Liya and Gabriella were heading to the kitchen first.
While changing into kitchen aprons in the lounge’s dressing room, they happened to meet.
Something was off about Liya today.
When she reached for her apron, her arm trembled slightly.
Beneath her sleeve, a white bandage was wrapped around a wound; Gabriella noticed it immediately.
“Liya, you’re hurt?”
Liya was a high-ranking demon like most of the maids here, and the strongest among them despite her position.
For her to be injured?
Gabriella quickly guessed the reason.
Before Liya could stammer out an excuse, Gabriella continued, “Did Elsa do that?”
“I’m sorry for letting Lady Gabriella see me in such an embarrassing state…”
Liya’s eyes darted away; she had clearly intended to hide it.
Elsa lowered her head in shame as well.
Both fell silent; the atmosphere turned awkward.
Gabriella instantly understood: when the power-sealing device had been put on Elsa, she must have lashed out and injured Liya. After all, Liya had been in charge of everything concerning Elsa yesterday; some conflict wasn’t surprising.
Conflict between humans and demons was normal.
Even back at the outpost, Gabriella had seen that the current Elsa was a rather straightforward girl.
After all, she was the Holy Knight Grand Commander; on the human side, her word was law.
But conflicts between maids were something Gabriella absolutely did not allow!
For a moment, she couldn’t think of how to resolve it. Then, unexpectedly, Elsa acted first.
She stepped in front of Gabriella, bowed deeply to Liya, lifted the hem of her beautiful maid dress, and performed a perfect curtsy.
“Lady Liya, I… I was wrong. I should not have been disrespectful or held any grudge against you. Right now, I am nothing more than an apprentice maid. I’m sorry. Please punish me however you see fit…”
Elsa’s voice carried three parts defiance and seven parts genuine remorse as she used the maid etiquette she had learned from Liya just yesterday to formally apologize to the head maid.
She didn’t want to cause trouble for her big sister.
