In the blink of an eye, Saint Roland Magic Academy had entered the end-of-term exam week.
This was the academy’s only large-scale unified exam of the semester.
It wasn’t hard to guess that the air had been thick with tension for nearly a month already.
If not for the Thanksgiving Festival that had provided some relief in between, the atmosphere would have been even heavier.
Early Monday morning, a messenger from the administrative office delivered the notice to Seraphina.
The meeting was short and efficient, focusing mainly on the assignment of proctoring duties for the exams.
Perhaps thanks to Dekalorin’s influence, Seraphina was assigned to proctor the written exam for Magic Development History.
In the eyes of all the professors, this was undoubtedly the lightest and least demanding task.
Unlike practical combat exams, which required ensuring student safety, performing initial evaluations, and recording everything with magic.
Back in the room, Seraphina spread out the schedule she had been given on the table.
Movira picked it up and took a look.
“Would you like me to accompany you?”
Seraphina shook her head.
“I don’t think that’s allowed. From what I remember, besides the two proctors and the students, no one else is permitted inside the exam hall.”
“Now that I think about it, I still don’t know who the other proctor is…”
Movira lowered her head and examined the schedule more carefully.
When she saw the other exam subjects, she easily guessed that Dekalorin must have pulled some strings for Seraphina.
As for the other proctor… she could make an educated guess as well.
“Alright.
Then I’ll wait for you outside the exam hall.
If anything comes up that you can’t handle, just come find me.”
Her eyes seemed to say that so-called rules and regulations meant nothing to her, yet she still respected Seraphina’s decision.
“Mm… It probably won’t be any trouble.”
Half an hour before the exam began, Seraphina changed into the custom professor’s robe issued by the academy and arrived early at the designated location.
It was a bright classroom located in the eastern tower, featuring tall arched windows.
The moment she entered, she spotted the other proctor.
However, the other person wasn’t wearing professor attire, but rather a simple yet holy white-and-gold everyday robe.
Saint Eustacia.
Seraphina paused briefly at the doorway.
Seeing that some students had already taken their seats, she quickly suppressed her surprise and added “Lady” at the end in her mind.
After all, within the academy, everyone addressed her as Lady Saint Eustacia—except for Dekalorin.
“Good day.”
The other woman was currently looking down and checking the exam papers.
Seraphina still didn’t quite understand what Dekalorin was thinking by assigning her to proctor a written exam…
A top-tier professor like her was usually assigned to the more important practical combat examinations that the academy valued highly.
After all, she wasn’t just a saintess—she was also a professor of the academy.
Not only her; even the students below hadn’t expected this.
At that moment, Saint Eustacia raised her head.
Upon seeing Seraphina, she immediately understood.
You’ve made me the sacrifice again, haven’t you, Teacher? she complained inwardly to her mentor.
“Good day, Professor Dekalorin.”
She gave a slight nod.
“It’s almost time.
Please assist me in counting the number of answer sheets.”
Her voice was calm and even, sounding very official with no unnecessary pleasantries—perfectly in line with her identity.
“Alright.” Seraphina stepped forward.
As she took a stack of papers, she noticed two books on the desk.
They looked like… novels?
Those definitely shouldn’t be in an exam hall.
Were they overlooked during cleanup?
She didn’t think too much about it and focused on completing the task at hand first.
After finishing the preparations, there were still fifteen minutes until the actual exam began.
The two of them sat at the front, maintaining some distance from each other.
“Um… Seraphina.”
Saint Eustacia leaned slightly toward her and spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear.
“This isn’t a particularly important exam. As long as the students don’t go too far, there’s no need to be too strict.”
Hearing this, Seraphina couldn’t help but grin.
So… even here there were “easy” classes like this?
More importantly, these words were actually coming from Saint Eustacia’s mouth!
What else was there to say? Seraphina nodded to show she understood.
Students continued to take their seats one after another.
They had originally thought this would be a relaxed exam, only to find out that one of the proctors was Saint Eustacia.
Because of her presence, the classroom remained filled with an invisible pressure the entire time.
Though they were also surprised that Seraphina would be proctoring such an exam.
The bell rang.
Even though everyone knew the rules by heart, they still had to be read aloud.
Not long after the exam started, Seraphina finally understood what those two novels were for.
Yes—Saint Eustacia was reading a novel while proctoring.
The moment the other woman picked up the book, Seraphina felt as if her brain had gone blank, all its wrinkles smoothed out.
She looked down at her own empty hands.
The veteran really knows how to play this game!
The entire exam lasted one hour.
Was she really supposed to just sit here doing nothing for a full hour?
“Hey.”
A while later, feeling extremely bored, she quietly nudged Saint Eustacia’s arm with her elbow.
The other woman turned to look at her somewhat reluctantly.
“What?”
Seraphina pointed at the other book and gestured with her eyes.
“Can I read that one?”
“No.” Saint Eustacia’s answer was crisp and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.
“Eh… why not?”
“It’s just a book!
Reading it won’t hurt anything!”
“No means no.If you’re bored, go walk around downstairs or do some questions like them.”
As she spoke, she moved the book even farther away and handed Seraphina an extra answer sheet.
Seraphina pursed her lips helplessly.
“Fine, fine.”
She knew very well that she probably couldn’t even compare to the worst-performing student below when it came to this subject.
As for doing questions… She sighed.
With no other options, she might as well get up and walk around.
The students below, who had gradually started to relax, immediately tensed up the moment they saw Seraphina stand.
Even though most of them were genuinely taking the exam honestly.
Still, there were a few who tried to cheat.
Seraphina spotted several during her round.
However, remembering Saint Eustacia’s words, she pretended not to notice.
When they saw Seraphina walking toward them, they became incredibly nervous.
This actually amused Seraphina quite a bit.
When would I have ever had this kind of treatment before?
Proctoring an exam!
I used to be lucky if I didn’t fail!
