Chapter 53: How to Repay
At this moment, under Saint Eustacia’s guidance, Movira walked straight toward the circular stepped lecture hall where the public lecture was about to take place.
The closer they got to their destination, the more students surrounded them.
They all cast respectful gazes her way and greeted her in low voices.
There was no need to act like Seraphina here.
She simply needed to respond calmly.
She entered through the side door.
The first thing that met her eyes was a classroom packed to capacity.
Looking further out, even the aisles between the seats and the empty spaces at the back were filled with standing students.
Saint Eustacia had also completed her task and took her seat in a specially reserved spot in the front row.
There were roughly nine hundred people in attendance.
Seraphina might have been terrified, but the person on stage was not Seraphina.
In Movira’s eyes, who no longer remembered how many years she had lived, the people before her were nothing more than naive children.
Who would feel nervous facing children?
When her figure appeared on the podium, the already quiet classroom fell into even deeper silence.
Nine hundred pairs of eyes focused on her in unison.
In the days leading up to the lecture, she had taken the time to familiarize herself with the current human magic system.
What she discovered was that, since the “Golden Age” a hundred years ago, human magic appeared to have stagnated.
She could confirm that the Demon Realm’s magic system had now completely surpassed that of humanity!
So… Movira didn’t mind giving these people a small taste of magical shock by discussing a detail that every magic system avoided.
Movira walked steadily to the center of the podium.
The lecture notes in her hand served no actual purpose for the class—they were completely blank and existed purely for decoration.
“Today, we gather here together. The public lectures given by new professors throughout the generations have mostly covered existing material. That is good, and it is safe. However, I hope we can temporarily set aside specific spells and discuss a more fundamental issue!”
Meanwhile, in Dekalorin’s office.
Seraphina was nervously watching the scene inside the classroom through a water mirror.
It had been created by Dekalorin and allowed a perfectly clear view of everything within.
Ah… She really is… so calm!
The “Seraphina” inside was even more perfect than Seraphina had imagined!
She couldn’t even picture herself facing so many people—she probably wouldn’t have been able to utter a single word.
In the water mirror, “Seraphina” had already begun her lecture.
She posed several simple questions before analyzing them layer by layer, focusing on the issue of why magic within the same system often could not be used interchangeably.
Simply put, a powerful mage specializing in natural magic would be a complete novice when it came to mind magic.
“As expected of an outsider—she really is quite bold!”
Dekalorin was also watching from the side and had naturally heard Movira’s audacious statement.
“This is practically a chronic ailment of the human magic system, and she dares to point it out directly.”
“Ah? What’s wrong?”
Seraphina quickly turned her head to ask.
She was afraid Movira had said something wrong and would end up embarrassing her.
“It’s nothing.
What I mean is, talking about this topic… carries some risk.
But since she went ahead and did it, she must be fully confident.
It’s just based on… my understanding of her!”
Seraphina knew Movira was incredibly capable, but she couldn’t help worrying anyway.
As she watched the “Seraphina” in the mirror, the further the lecture progressed, the more uneasy she felt.
Wouldn’t this be too high-profile?
In the future, I…
“Future?”
Dekalorin interrupted her.
“We can talk about the future later. At least for now, your reputation has been completely established!”
She paused for a few seconds, her voice lowering slightly with a teasing note.
“Don’t you think this version of ‘you’ is quite charming?”
“Cough, cough! Who—who thinks she’s charming! Movira… is clearly just… messing around!”
Seraphina’s cheeks flushed bright red as she hurriedly refuted the comment.
On the podium, Movira’s understanding of human magic was in no way inferior to that of the professors seated below.
This was the advantage her vast experience granted her.
As long as one’s lifespan was extended indefinitely, there was nothing that couldn’t be learned.
As the lecture drew to a close and entered the question-and-answer segment, Movira handled everything with perfect composure, as if answering the most basic of questions.
Finally, amid thunderous applause, the one-hour public lecture came to an end.
The words “Grand Unified System” written on the blackboard were deeply etched into everyone’s minds.
Even after her figure disappeared through the side door, the excited buzz in the classroom showed no signs of dying down.
There was no doubt that “Professor Seraphina’s” public lecture had been an overwhelming success.
Although she hadn’t provided any concrete solution, she seemed to have made this bold, fanciful idea feel just a little more real.
Movira quickly returned to the room, let out a soft breath, and transformed back into her true appearance.
Recalling the scene from earlier, her eyes held a complex look.
Success had been certain, but it seemed… perhaps a bit too successful?
Would it cause trouble for Seraphina?
Still, what she wanted most right now was to see the real Seraphina immediately and find out her reaction.
Just then, the door was gently pushed open.
Seraphina and Dekalorin entered one after the other.
“Sister!”
Seraphina nearly ran over to Movira.
“You were amazing! There were so many people down there, but you didn’t panic at all, and you explained all that knowledge so well!”
Hearing Seraphina’s heartfelt praise, Movira felt greatly satisfied.
She gave a soft “Mm” in response, then tried to keep her voice as calm as possible.
“It was just some basic material. Nothing difficult.”
“You call that nothing difficult?”
Dekalorin leaned against the doorframe and chimed in.
“You really went and made it a big deal.It makes me curious what exactly you’ve been researching these past few years. Whatever comes out of your mouth is probably already considered outdated content!”
“Ah, good thing this year’s courses are about to wrap up soon. Otherwise ‘Professor Seraphina’ would have quite the workload on her hands!”
She deliberately emphasized the words “Professor Seraphina.”
Seraphina didn’t understand most of what was being said, and she couldn’t comprehend the knowledge Movira had lectured about either.
She only knew that without Movira, she truly wouldn’t have known what to do.
“Mm… Anyway, thank you. If it weren’t for you, I really wouldn’t have known how to handle it.”
Movira gazed at her, leaning forward slightly.
Her faint shadow enveloped Seraphina.
“Hmm? Thank you… Is that all you’re going to say?I worked so hard pretending for so long. What does Seraphina plan to use to repay me?”
“Ah?”
Seraphina froze.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t considered Movira might ask for repayment, but it had come so suddenly that she had no idea what to offer.
