“Big sister?”
Hearing Su Li’s words, Shen Cishu couldn’t help but sneer coldly, her gaze icy as she looked at Su Li.
“If you like big sister so much, then why didn’t you take her away when you divorced? Why did you have to take me?”
“Make me follow you through those hard, poor days?”
“Why?”
“Why does big sister get everything, while I have to live off other people’s charity?”
“Just because big sister was born a little earlier than me?”
Shen Cishu’s voice suddenly rose sharply. Fortunately, there were no passersby around now. She questioned Su Li with a piercing tone:
“Why did that bitch get born with a silver spoon in her mouth, having everything I had to struggle for, while I have nothing?”
“Opening an Art Museum was my dream, so why could that bitch realize my dream with ease, and then mock me for it?”
“It’s all because of you!”
“It’s all your fault!”
“If it weren’t for you divorcing and insisting on taking me away, everything now would belong to me!”
“It’s because of you that my life is ruined!”
“Otherwise, I could be living the life of a young lady right now!”
“You promised not to see that bitch again! You said you would change, but you never did anything!”
Shen Cishu spoke hysterically, “If it weren’t for you divorcing, I would be the one opening the Art Museum! It would be me!”
Su Li quietly stood by Shen Cishu’s side, listening to her vent her resentment towards their mother.
She tried to put herself in Shen Cishu’s mother’s shoes. Right now, her mother should also be standing there in a daze, not knowing how to respond to her daughter’s words.
Seeing Su Li’s lack of reaction, Shen Cishu slowly approached her and suddenly pressed Su Li’s palm against her tear-streaked cheek, her fingertips digging harshly into Su Li’s wrist.
Even when warm blood trickled down her fingers, she didn’t care. Through sobs, she murmured:
“You comforted me like this back then, telling me ‘everything will be alright,’ but what happened in the end?”
“Why, after more than ten years, has nothing improved? I even have to accept that bitch’s charity Scholarship, living like a dog without dignity just to have what I have now?”
“Why? This should clearly belong to me!”
Su Li ignored the pain radiating through her arm and gently hugged Shen Cishu, letting the blood drip down her fair wrist.
“I’m sorry, Cishu. It’s Mom’s fault. It’s Mom’s fault!”
“You only know how to apologize. What use is an apology? What use! You can’t change anything.”
Shen Cishu released Su Li’s wrist in anger and frustration, clenching her fists tightly and pounding hard on Su Li’s back.
“You just apologize while taking advantage of my soft heart. You know I will forgive you in the end!!”
“That’s why you recklessly break your promises!”
“I hate you!”
“I hate you!”
Shen Cishu kept hitting Su Li with force. Su Li even wondered if the reason her mother couldn’t bear it and passed away early was because of how hard Shen Cishu vented her anger each time.
“I’m sorry, Cishu.”
Su Li continued soothing her, realizing that besides apologizing, she really had little else to do.
Of course, maybe if she could directly give Shen Cishu tens of millions or even billions to reach Bai Huizi’s financial status, Shen Cishu’s troubles would be solved immediately.
But Su Li didn’t have that kind of money, and she wasn’t Shen Cishu’s biological mother, so naturally she wouldn’t spend so much on her.
Moderate investment was acceptable, but only if it promised high returns.
“Mom knows fingernails digging into muscles hurt a lot, just like Cishu said. Mom promised to change but never acted, and that’s disappointing.”
“But your sister invited me to accompany her to the Auction next week. If you need me, I can skip it.”
Su Li spoke, trying to guide Shen Cishu towards psychological balance through “competition.”
Even if Bai Huizi hadn’t scheduled anything with her, as long as Shen Cishu believed she had ‘taken’ something from Bai Huizi, that was enough.
“You secretly agreed with that bitch again!”
“She’s not a bitch, she’s your sister.”
Su Li calmly corrected Shen Cishu’s words. Hearing this, Shen Cishu was furious.
“You’re still defending that bitch!”
“Even though Mom didn’t choose to take her away back then, she’s still Mom’s daughter. Mom doesn’t want you to—”
“Shut up!!”
Shen Cishu glared at Su Li fiercely, her eyes bloodshot.
“Can’t you just firmly choose me?”
“I’ve already given up a privileged life for you.”
“You know your sister couldn’t let go.”
“If you like her so much, why didn’t you take her away? Why did you have to choose me and make me suffer with you?”
“Is it because I’m young and powerless to make choices?”
Shen Cishu’s fists pounded on Su Li’s body like drums. Su Li couldn’t help but cough softly.
She silently stood before Shen Cishu, letting her vent.
“Why, why can’t you just choose me? All of this is because of you, yet you refuse to take responsibility.”
With that, Shen Cishu buried her face into Su Li’s chest and started crying.
Su Li let her tears soak her clothes and gently stroked Shen Cishu’s head, staying silent.
“Next week, you can’t accompany that… can’t go with big sister to the Auction. You have to stay with me.”
“All right.”
Su Li said, since she was currently playing the role of Shen Cishu’s mother.
If next week Shen Cishu wanted to freeload, Su Li would simply stop making deals with her.
It wasn’t Su Li who was promising, it was Shen Cishu’s “mother.”
She was genuinely worried about Shen Cishu’s current state, and wondered how she would react when told why “Mom” needed money from her own daughter.
After Shen Cishu finished crying, she lifted her face from Su Li’s embrace and rubbed it harshly against Su Li’s clothes.
“I want Mom to tell me the stories behind these paintings, just like when I was little.”
Shen Cishu held Su Li’s hand, her eyes still red, but she stubbornly pulled Su Li over to a painting.
“This is Guo Runwen’s ‘Chuniang’.”
Su Li explained it based on her own understanding, but Shen Cishu was distracted.
“Mom, how do you know this painting is called ‘Chuniang’ and not ‘Chunu’?”
