“Cecilia has fallen into a deep sleep due to a curse. We need your help.”
Hearing this sudden news, Zhang Cheng stood frozen in place, his face full of disbelief.
‘Damn, my curse words really work!’
This thought immediately crossed Zhang Cheng’s mind, but he quickly snapped out of it—something was definitely off here!
“You said she fell asleep because of a curse. What’s the connection? What exactly happened?”
Anxious, Zhang Cheng had already forgotten to use honorifics when addressing Impart.
Impart didn’t mind the slight breach of etiquette and walked over, explaining: “The curse the Dark Dragon unleashed on Cecilia mingled with her aura, causing mutations within her body. Unfortunately, these mutations began attacking her soul.”
Ignoring Zhang Cheng’s reaction, Impart continued on his own.
“We never expected this to happen. Fortunately, Lord Odyn has intervened and stabilized Cecilia’s condition, but the damage done earlier is irreversible. This is what caused her to fall into this sleep.”
Zhang Cheng snapped out of his initial shock. Learning that Lu Qiuchen’s condition had stabilized, he finally felt some relief.
Why do they need my help? I’m just a weak human, not even close to epic level…
Zhang Cheng’s mind was full of doubts, but he was eager to help Lu Qiuchen and had no time to dwell on them. He quickly approached Impart and urged, “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go immediately!”
Seeing Zhang Cheng’s determined attitude towards Lu Qiuchen, a hint of approval flashed in Impart’s eyes.
He fully understood Zhang Cheng’s doubts, so as he conjured the teleportation magic circle in his hand, he also took the initiative to explain: “Cecilia’s condition was critical at the time, so she activated protective measures in her heart. Although the immediate danger on her has been cleared, those protections remain intact. Someone needs to open the barriers of her soul to determine the follow-up treatment.”
“While we are stronger than you on the spiritual level, the guidance of someone close to her is often more effective. Since you have a contract with her, your minds are connected. That is why my lord asked me to invite you.”
Zhang Cheng silently nodded after hearing this. A flash of white light passed, and he appeared alongside Impart at the foot of Dragon Vein Peak.
After teleporting into the canyon with Impart, and then passing through the Elder Council’s barrier, Zhang Cheng paid little attention to the surrounding scenery. Once inside the valley, his eyes immediately landed on the silver dragon lying prone on the stone slab.
But his gaze didn’t linger on Lu Qiuchen for long—it was quickly drawn to the huge black dragon at the center. The overwhelming pressure emanating from it demanded his full attention.
Previously, Lu Qiuchen had told him in detail about the prominent dragons like Odyn, Gaelf, and the Five Dragon Kings, but it wasn’t until now, standing before Odyn, that Zhang Cheng truly understood the weight of a powerful being. The pressure Odyn exuded was on an entirely different level compared to what Lu Qiuchen had conveyed to players in the game.
Moreover, unlike any other giant dragon he had seen, despite Odyn’s aged appearance, his entire body radiated power and majesty. Is this the so-called presence of a true master? No wonder he is the Lord of the Dragon Race—a genuine final boss!
Swallowing nervously, Zhang Cheng followed Impart to stand before the black dragon, placing a hand on his chest in respect.
“Greetings, honorable Lord of the Dragon Race, Lord Odyn.”
After bowing, Zhang Cheng raised his head to meet Odyn’s sharp gaze, feeling a chill in his heart.
Though he was allowed here because of Lu Qiuchen, to an ordinary dragon, he was nothing more than a small fry. So he didn’t expect to receive special attention from the Lord of the Dragons.
Zhang Cheng didn’t know what Odyn’s appraisal meant, and with no answer forthcoming, he felt uneasy.
Odyn’s gaze was clearly fixed on him, but Zhang Cheng had the strange sensation that Odyn’s eyes had looked right through him and into the distance.
“I thought that delusional fool was collecting the Sky Shards. Didn’t expect a pleasant surprise. Lai, why aren’t you coming out to greet an old friend?” Odyn withdrew his gaze and spoke.
Zhang Cheng trembled, alarm bells ringing in his mind. ‘Lai was discovered! Wait, has Lai been attached to me all along, watching over me?’
“Odyn, since you intruded into the Spirit Realm without permission, there’s nothing left to discuss between us.” Zhang Cheng heard himself speak involuntarily, uttering complex dragon speech.
“Just cling stubbornly to your pathetic dream of revival.”
“Hmph, aren’t you the same? So many years have passed, yet you still hide in the sky like a mouse, even losing half your own territory,” Odyn sneered disdainfully.
Zhang Cheng sensed a surge of anger from Lai’s consciousness but it was quickly suppressed.
Seeing Lai silent, Odyn continued taunting: “Once the all-powerful God of the Spirit Realm who ignited the Eternal World’s chaos, now you can only hide within a human’s soul. What a fitting reward for all you’ve done.”
Not only Zhang Cheng, but even Impart was shocked by the implications of this statement.
“God of the Spirit Realm”? Caused the Eternal World’s war? What does all this mean?
Lai remained silent, giving no answers to the questions in Zhang Cheng’s mind. Odyn showed no intention of explaining to the puzzled human and dragon, continuing: “At your current state, you won’t last much longer. So what if you collect all the Eternal Crystals? Your children no longer obey you. But on this matter, we might cooperate.”
“Stop pretending to be pitiful and focus on yourself instead.” Lai’s tone had returned to calm.
Seeing Lai’s resistance to his proposal, Odyn did not push further but said firmly, “Rest assured, I won’t stop you from collecting the Sky Shards. On the contrary, I will assist you. Sooner or later, you will agree to cooperate with me.”
No sooner had Odyn finished speaking than Zhang Cheng felt Lai’s consciousness suddenly vanish, and control of his body returned to him.
“God of the Spirit Realm? Hah!” Odyn sneered, watching Zhang Cheng’s change and knowing Lai’s presence had left.
The two bystanders were left baffled by the conversation, but seeing Odyn had no intention of explaining, they wisely kept their questions to themselves.
“Other matters are distant from you now. You only need to know that the ‘God of the Spirit Realm’ was Lai’s ancient identity. He has tasked you with gathering the Sky Shards to reclaim his power—but this is destined to fail. Times have changed.”
Unexpectedly, Odyn seemed to have a change of heart and actually explained to Zhang Cheng.
“Today I unexpectedly saw an old friend. I need to prepare for something. Impart, the matter of Cecilia is in your hands.”
Having finished his instructions, Odyn stood up, and before Zhang Cheng could react, he vanished without any trace of magic or white glow from space magic.
Still processing the information, Zhang Cheng noticed Odyn’s departure and the release of the oppressive aura.
He remembered his purpose here was to rescue the comatose Lu Qiuchen and pushed Lai’s matters aside, hastening over to Impart.
“What should I do?” Zhang Cheng asked anxiously.
“Be patient and follow my instructions.”
Impart ignored Zhang Cheng’s anxiety and moved to the center of the place where Lu Qiuchen had undergone his bloodline transformation ceremony.
He took out magical materials and placed them carefully in position, then used his spiritual power to weave the magic circle.
While Zhang Cheng waited anxiously, the magic circle was soon completed.
Impart moved Lu Qiuchen to the center of the circle and arranged for Zhang Cheng to stand at one corner of the magic array.
“I will guide you into Cecilia’s spiritual world. Your task is to awaken her.”
“A closed soul differs from an open one; dangers may lurk inside. You must stay focused or risk losing yourself! But since you have a contract with Cecilia, you have some immunity.”
“I will watch over you the whole time. If anything goes wrong, call my name in your heart, and I will pull you out of the spiritual world.”
Zhang Cheng took a deep breath, nodded in agreement, signaling that he was ready.
As Impart’s arm sank down, the world before Zhang Cheng spun wildly.
Even with the system’s 90% resistance to negative effects, Zhang Cheng only held out a little longer before finally succumbing to unconsciousness.
When he woke, he found himself in a pure white space, the intense brightness making his soul uncomfortable and his eyes unable to open.
After gradually adjusting, Zhang Cheng squinted through the misty vision and faintly made out a huge object ahead.
Gathering his composure, he cautiously moved toward it.
As he approached, the fog thinned, revealing a gigantic heart over two meters tall, beating steadily.
Seeing this solitary blood-red heart standing in the white space, Zhang Cheng felt a strange unease.
But with nothing else around, after hesitation, he could only move closer to study it.
Still on guard, Zhang Cheng leaned toward the heart.
As if sensing his approach, the heart’s surface gradually became transparent.
Zhang Cheng was shocked to see two slender figures sitting back to back inside.
The two figures sat with their silver-white hair flowing loosely around them, obscuring their faces and their completely bare, pale bodies.
But their small dragon horns, slender tails, and their shapes—familiar beyond measure to Zhang Cheng—revealed their identities.
How could there be two Lu Qiuchens in this spiritual space?!
Staring at this unbelievable scene, Zhang Cheng involuntarily stepped back two paces.
Perhaps disturbed by his arrival, the giant heart rapidly dissolved, exposing the two girls fully in the spiritual space.
With the heart gone, the two girls, like exquisite dolls suddenly brought to life, trembled slightly.
Under Zhang Cheng’s horrified gaze, they simultaneously raised their heads and turned to look at him.
Zhang Cheng noticed their eyelashes quiver before they opened their eyes, but their pupils were different colors.
The girl on the left had fiery red eyes glowing with heat, while the one on the right had golden eyes shimmering with a misty watery light.
They were the first to see Zhang Cheng, freezing in surprise before speaking in unison, “Zhang Cheng, why are you here?”
