The moment Odhin spoke, two figures cloaked entirely in black robes emerged from the void.
“You two, get out of here!”
The two figures paid no heed to his command. They advanced toward Odhin one after the other, teasing, “Lord Odhin treating an old friend like this really breaks my heart.”
The one in front was extraordinarily tall. He stopped in front of Odhin, raising his head so that Odhin could clearly see the hollow eye sockets and pale teeth beneath his robe.
“Childez congratulates you on obtaining the authority over the Dragonkind.”
After saying this, the skull-faced figure turned around. Before he could speak further, the figure behind him threw back his wide robe, revealing curved ram’s horns and purple eyes glowing in the space.
The succubus, Lanrvis Abidiss, gave a sweet smile and bowed respectfully to Odhin.
“Lanrvis congratulates—”
Before the succubus could finish her words, her body was suddenly crushed by an immense pressure.
“Succubus, the stench you emit disgusts me. If you don’t leave, then die!”
The magical aura in the air thickened abruptly. Odhin’s eyes flickered with a light that seemed to solidify into a tangible form, shooting a golden beam at the succubus.
Lanrvis’s expression changed drastically as she struggled desperately. But their power difference was too vast. She was so suppressed she couldn’t even fight back, only able to watch the light approach her, casting a pleading glance toward the towering figure ahead.
The skull-faced Childez shifted sideways, intercepting the attack for the succubus, but his black robe couldn’t withstand the assault. His towering skeletal frame was fully exposed beneath.
“You should be thankful someone’s protecting you. This time is only a warning. Now scram!”
Othin’s voice was filled with strength. Lanrvis suddenly let out a muffled groan and staggered to the ground.
She looked up at Odhin in horror, realizing the Lich King standing before her was completely unaffected. A flash of hatred crossed her face before her form gradually faded.
Embarrassed and retreating back to the Demon Realm, Lanrvis clutched her lips, swallowing the blood that had risen in her throat.
That bastard! Lanrvis cursed Odhin silently. The sonic attack had directly broken through her protective talent and injured her body.
She knew how much he despised the demon race. The only reason she dared follow the Lich King Childez here was partly cooperation, but mainly because he was also a demon lord.
As a Stellar-level spatial controller, if a fight broke out with Odhin, having the Lich King—the first commander of the Demon Lord’s army—take the brunt of the firepower upfront meant she only needed to seize an instant to escape.
But she overestimated her strength and underestimated Odhin, this ancient dragon who had lived for ten thousand years. As a newly ascended Stellar-level, she was like a small animal in front of him, completely at his mercy.
Lanrvis waited here left and right but saw no sign of the Lich King returning. Doubt crept up again about what had just happened. So much time had passed, and the Lich King still hadn’t come back?
The Lich King had advised her not to come earlier, and Odhin had only attacked her. Did the Lich King stay behind? Was telling both of them to scram just a ruse? Could there be some unspeakable plan between them?
Lanrvis’s eyes flicked as she took note of this suspicion—it might be her opportunity to ascend to the position of first commander!

Back at the Dragon Isle Elders’ Assembly, after Childez helped Odhin drive away the stubborn succubus, Odhin’s hostility toward him had not lessened at all.
Coldly, Odhin said, “You contacted me before, and now you come here personally just to have me teach that filthy, despicable succubus a lesson?”
The Lich King removed his torn robe, revealing his towering skeletal frame. Pointing a bony finger at the sleeping Lu Qiuchen nearby, he said, “You know well if that succubus had the guts to say she wanted my position, I’d have handed it over long ago. But she doesn’t even have the courage to speak up. I came here only to complete the Demon Lord’s orders.”
Seeing Odhin’s pupil shrink, the Lich King’s jaw clicked open and closed with a clacking sound. “You still have no sense of humor.”
Closing his mouth, two blue flames suddenly flickered in his eye sockets. “I want this little dragon. Will you give it?”
“Not a chance!” Odhin rejected immediately.
But even now, he still didn’t fully understand the purpose behind this skeletal figure. When did the always busy Childez turn like this? What about all his experiments?
The Lich King pulled out a mirror and shrugged as he spoke to his reflection, “I’ve tried my best but failed. I told you I couldn’t bring it back. The next few hundred years of experiments are already scheduled. Don’t bring me these kinds of troubles again!”
Putting away the mirror, the Lich King looked at Lu Qiuchen on the ground. Even the expressionless skull somehow showed surprise, mouth agape, turning toward Odhin.
“Her state… What are you thinking? How long has this memory block lasted? I can’t recall exactly—it’s been many years without lifting it.”
Shaking his skull head, he went on, “I told you before, this method can only maintain things temporarily. Even though your dragons have strong vitality, conflicts will inevitably arise over time. The number of Silver Dragons now must be far fewer than before. If this continues, the Silver Dragon clan will eventually be wiped out… hmm? That’s news. I can report that to the Demon Lord so he doesn’t think I came for nothing.”
After this long monologue, looking again at Odhin’s gloomy gaze, Childez was startled. “I’m not here to fight! Let’s go. I hope we never meet again!”
No sooner had he spoken than the skeletal figure vanished.
Othin’s face darkened as he withdrew the barriers he had set in the area and restored outside communications.
This Lich King was still the same as before, not changed in the slightest!
Although that always meddling Lich King was reckless with his words, he was right about one thing: it was time to lift the restrictions on memory inheritance.
The Silver Dragons were never truly part of the Five-colored Dragons. For thousands of years, forcing them to integrate had caused the lifespan of newborn Silver Dragons to plummet. After all, the White Dragon’s legacy in the Five-colored Dragons conflicted with the Silver Dragons, resulting in only Gelf and Impat now having lifespans exceeding five thousand years.
During these millennia, the old Silver Dragons had died out, while the newborn Silver Dragons were severely insufficient in number—and even a few had died mysteriously, though he attributed those to accidents.
The other four pureblood dragon lines, while not suppressed as heavily as the Silver Dragons, also hadn’t produced any new Stellar-level dragons in these thousands of years due to the memory inheritance restrictions. Even the Five Great Dragon Kings hadn’t seen new Stellar-levels emerge.
But having absorbed all the dragon authority from Kaunt, Odhin no longer needed to suppress the Silver Dragons to secure his position as head of the Dragonkind.
With the war approaching, now was the time to gather strength. Once the restrictions were lifted, many Stellar-level pureblood dragons would soon emerge.
Coincidentally, Cecilia’s memory inheritance was currently at risk. He decided to start with her and test the effects.
*****
Actually, there was never any official trial set up for the Dragonkind’s Savior. This was just an idea a bored young dragon came up with thousands of years ago after hearing stories of Dragon Knights and seeing Gelf’s romance with a human knight.
They wanted to increase the difficulty for the next human who would bond with a contract dragon! They couldn’t let them pollute the dragon bloodline!
In their plan, the trial had three parts: the first was a speed contest, the second a treasure hunt, and the third a battle.
After the proposal passed, the bored young dragons gathered and spent a great deal of time moving mountains, digging tunnels, diverting water, and planting trees in a barren area west of Dragon Isle, tirelessly transforming the wasteland.
Because the young dragons’ memories of inheritance contained various landscapes, this place ended up having lakes, forests, mountains, canyons, underground sections, and strange terrains with passageways suitable for dragons under one hundred years old.
But long after these young dragons grew up, no Dragon Knights appeared. The area became a playground for dragons under a hundred years old, with elder dragons assigned to maintain it. Impat, though never part of the maintenance, had watched its construction closely and knew exactly what was inside.
Zhang Cheng was brought here by Impat to undergo a special trial: competing against the young dragons.
Because the original treasure hunt function had long since disappeared after thousands of years, Zhang Cheng could only play alongside the young dragons for the remaining two parts, with the battles increased to two rounds.
But this so-called trial was just for fun. Zhang Cheng only needed to win two out of three rounds to pass. After all, the one who signed the contract was Lu Qiuchen, not him. Even if he wanted to stop it, he had no power.
The young dragons around one hundred years old were roughly between the peak Saint level and early Epic level, close in strength to Zhang Cheng, making them suitable opponents.
When the young dragons heard a prospective Dragon Knight was coming for the trial, they all became excited, crowding around Impat to compete for a chance to face him. Most of them had never seen humans before and looked at Zhang Cheng curiously.
Impat looked around. There was only one red dragon close to Zhang Cheng’s level here. The others were either too strong or too weak, which prevented disputes over who would face Zhang Cheng.
Under Impat’s supervision, the one-on-one battles were about to begin.
Though still a young dragon, this red dragon’s physique was far beyond Zhang Cheng’s. Zhang Cheng was fully armed now, somewhat compensating for his physical disadvantage.
With Impat present, both could fight at full strength without fear of injury.
This was Zhang Cheng’s first time facing a pureblood dragon. Although the dragon’s size after crouching wasn’t much larger than his, Zhang Cheng was excited. After all, this was a pureblood dragon. Maybe defeating it would earn him a “Dragon Slayer” achievement from the system?
Just as Impat was about to announce the start, Zhang Cheng launched an immediate assault.
The young dragon, having never fought a human and unfamiliar with adamantine weapons, panicked after being cut by the sword tip. He cowered and flinched the whole time, finally being subdued effortlessly by Zhang Cheng.
Impat hadn’t expected it to end so quickly. After asking Zhang Cheng, he immediately announced the second round: the speed contest.
Speed wasn’t Zhang Cheng’s strong suit, and against those who had learned to fly, it was no surprise he finished last.
While Zhang Cheng rested, Impat began selecting the final opponent.
Seeing Zhang Cheng’s well-equipped gear, he planned to pick a stronger opponent this time, but just then he received a message from Odhin.
