Even the students of Class 2-3, who were always restless, tried their best to remain calm during the exam.
No one wanted to provoke the ever-patrolling Homeroom Teacher who paced back and forth along the corridor.
After all, grades weren’t particularly important to them, but if their voices got too loud and the Homeroom Teacher caught them cheating, it wouldn’t just be an embarrassing matter—it could even lead to direct expulsion.
Under such a heavy pressure where the cost far outweighed the benefit, Class 2-3 found itself unusually quiet.
The only sound filling the air was the faint rustling of pens on paper.
Su Wanli was writing the last line on her exam paper—
“… So, as long as we firmly hold onto the direction we choose and wholeheartedly move forward, one day we will achieve our ambitions.”
She wiped her stiff hand, brushed away the beads of sweat from her forehead, then looked at her fully written exam paper and sighed in satisfaction.
Although she had only jotted down a jumble of messy words in the essay, recalling her past from elementary to high school, this was basically how she always wrote.
Originally, she had been worried about whether she could get into the exam mindset or whether she would lose focus halfway through, or absentmindedly stare at something on the desk.
But once she picked up her pen, she was completely absorbed and wrote straight through.
The only downside was the exam dragged on too long; the things she had just written began to feel somewhat muddled.
Feeling accomplished, Su Wanli slammed her gel pen on the desk, then looked up at the clock on the blackboard.
Out of the two and a half hours allotted, she had used less than two hours.
There were still over forty minutes left before the exam time ended.
That made sense. Others still had to carefully read and analyze the exam questions, plus take time to think them through.
With Meng Huange’s notes to assist her, Su Wanli only needed to glance at the questions once to grasp their meaning.
It was only natural that she would save so much time.
If it wasn’t for how long it had been since she last wrote an essay, causing her handwriting to be a bit slow and hesitant, Miss Wanli even suspected she could’ve saved over an hour to rest.
Is this the joy of having the Aura of Main Heroine? Even without using the lucky Twelve-sided Die given by the System, she had already finished the entire exam paper.
Stretching lazily toward the ceiling, Su Wanli exhaled the breath she’d been holding and sank back into her seat.
Next up were math and English.
Judging by the trend, even if she ranked around the middle of her grade or in the top twenty of her class, it wasn’t impossible to succeed.
But if she took too big a risk, would she get caught by that strict school security officer?
If that happened, no one could enter the Mingri Banquet.
That shouldn’t be the case though; the Homeroom Teacher was fair and didn’t have the power to cheat on behalf of anyone.
Every word on her exam paper had been written by herself.
Su Wanli yawned widely and prepared to tidy her desk, resting her hands on it for a moment to recharge for the upcoming math exam.
She wondered what Meng Huange was doing. Since she herself had finished so early, perhaps Meng Huange had as well.
Hearing her own prolonged yawn, Su Wanli casually glanced in Meng Huange’s direction as if by accident.
Of course, the heroine wasn’t about to slam her pen on the desk like Su Wanli.
Meng Huange still sat upright, using her delicate left fingertips to hold down a corner of the exam paper while her right hand moved her neutral pen across the page, carefully reviewing her answers.
Su Wanli had always thought the Chinese exam was different from subjects like math or biology, where no matter how many times you reviewed, if you didn’t get it, you just didn’t get it.
She had always taken the approach of finishing as quickly as possible.
She hadn’t expected that Meng Huange would be so meticulous even with the Chinese exam paper.
Was this the level of seriousness that came with being the heroine?
If this continued, it wouldn’t be impossible for her to get a perfect score in Chinese, and once her results were published, it would surely become a huge highlight.
Su Wanli would need to think of ways to help her friend.
She didn’t know how well she herself would do this time.
If her grades were good enough, Meng Huange should be happy for her, even if only out of a collaborator’s sense of accomplishment.
Su Wanli lightly exhaled, rested her arms on the desk, then lifted her head to glance at Meng Huange out of the corner of her eye.
Truly remarkable—both talented and diligent.
She had never seen Meng Huange with a troubled expression before, nor had she seen her seriously worried about anything.
Without Su Wanli’s presence, Meng Huange’s future would probably be smooth sailing.
Looking at it this way, the existence of the Villainess System was quite meaningful.
Otherwise, if the heroine Meng Huange had no rival, how dull would her life be?
Speaking of rivals, Miss Wanli felt it was only prudent to double-check her own exam paper to make sure she hadn’t mistakenly changed a correct answer to a wrong one.
Just as Su Wanli was about to open her exam paper and carefully review it, an infuriating electronic ringtone suddenly sounded from her school uniform pocket—
[“Perfect Spring, the Villainess System, is very pleased to see your insight and awareness.
Your performance so far today is flawless.”]
[“Not only have you narrowed the distance with the heroine Meng Huange, giving her the illusion that things are improving, but your performance in this exam is commendable.
According to the System’s evaluation, your Chinese score will at least surpass 90% of the class.”]
“You really have to be so precise?
Just saying I’ve beaten over half the class isn’t good enough?” Su Wanli muttered.
[“To prevent the host from developing unnecessary confidence, accuracy is necessary.
Now that you have completed your exam and exerted your efforts, the System will assign you today’s first and only mission—”]
“Wait, what?
Wasn’t today supposed to be especially quiet?
I just need to focus on the exam and maintaining the female lead image, right?”
Ignoring Su Wanli’s doubts, the System continued broadcasting—
[“Mission briefing: Meng Huange proactively offered to assist Miss Su in improving her grades and helping her enter the Mingri Banquet tomorrow.
Thus, a covert collaboration begins.”]
[“‘Hmph, Meng Huange, since you’ve gone through the trouble to prepare offerings for me, I’m not so heartless as to refuse.
I’ll temporarily accept them.
However… do you really think these few shabby books can buy my heart and let me easily let you off?’”]
[“Although Miss Wanli superficially accepted Meng Huange’s proposal and publicly traveled to school together, exchanging pleasantries and warm words, she obviously would never accept a servant’s terms.
How could she dream of establishing a foothold in the Su family like that!”]
[“Of course, the noble Miss Su would never break her promise.
If she promised not to expel Meng Huange, then she wouldn’t.
However, if Meng Huange were to be expelled from the Su family, it wouldn’t be by Miss Su but by the Su Family Head.”]
(The scene is set on the Chinese exam site, where a sinister plan is taking shape within Su Wanli’s mind—)
A sinister plan.
Su Wanli silently swallowed her saliva.
No way, could it be that you mean—
“No mistake, host. Exactly as you think.
Besides passing the exam today, your only other mission is to stand up heroically during any exam session—”]
(And then, accuse Meng Huange of cheating during the exam, causing her to be humiliated, laughed at, and expelled from the Su family.)
