Somewhere Su Li didn’t know about, Miss Cat had come to work again.
After she saw Su Li enter the restroom, she instinctively followed behind her, thinking about how to greet Su Li.
Miss Cat never expected that even when working at the Art Museum, she could run into Su Li.
Thinking that Su Li might like the exhibits inside the Art Museum, Miss Cat felt a little downcast.
She didn’t really understand what others called “art.”
She wasn’t very literate either, and she’d heard that going to school cost a lot of money.
Even if she worked hard and scrimped and saved, she could only save a little bit of money.
She didn’t know when she could finally attend school and learn lots and lots of characters.
If she could read…
Maybe it would be much easier to communicate with Su Li?
But Miss Cat also thought she was pretty great already.
She could earn money on her own, fill her stomach, and sometimes even buy some Cat Food to eat.
Lowering her little head, she stood nervously by the restroom door after Su Li went inside.
She didn’t know if Su Li disliked her…
Hmm, maybe later she should start by talking about the Cat Food?
Or would it be better to start with the lunchbox?
But Su Li probably had something important to do, right?
She’d just say hi and then not delay Su Li.
When Su Li had time, they could have a proper chat.
While Miss Cat was thinking about this, she didn’t even notice someone passing right by her.
The wheelchair’s wheel pressed on her foot, and she instinctively dodged to the side.
Seeing a disabled person enter the restroom, Miss Cat originally wanted to ask if they needed help.
But when she saw the fierce expression on that disabled person’s face, she didn’t approach.
She was a little scared.
Though that disabled person looked good-looking, Miss Cat worried about her temper.
If she accidentally made that person angry, losing her job wouldn’t be good.
“Smack!”
A crisp sound echoed inside the restroom.
Miss Cat jumped, her thoughts snapped back by the sound of the slap, and she instinctively covered her mouth with both hands.
Her eyes filled with worry.
She thought the disabled person was being bullied.
But when she looked up, she realized it was Su Li who had been slapped.
Miss Cat was a little angry!
Su Li was such a good person; why should she be bullied?
She didn’t even know if Su Li was hurt.
Miss Cat really wanted to rush in and take that slap for Su Li, and at the very least, help scold that person back.
Although she wasn’t very good at scolding…
But the words Su Li used when protecting her last time—she could try to imitate those!
Yet when she saw the line of Su Li’s jaw turned to the side, Miss Cat stopped.
She wasn’t sure if Su Li wanted anyone to see her like this.
Would someone as strong-willed as Su Li want others to see this side of her?
Would she ruin things?
Hearing the curses the disabled person threw at Su Li not far away, Miss Cat’s eyes filled with tears, burning with anger.
In her heart, Su Li was the best person in the world.
She shouldn’t be allowed to be bullied by others.
Miss Cat made up her mind—no matter if she lost her job, she would help Su Li teach this disabled person a good lesson.
Anyway, she didn’t know much; she would just scratch that bad woman with her nails.
Or…
Or just kick the bad woman’s leg.
After kicking, she would grab Su Li and run.
Since the woman’s legs looked weak, even if she kicked her, the other wouldn’t be able to catch up, right?
She couldn’t let Su Li be bullied.
At worst, she’d lose her job and go hungry for a few days!
She was quite good at enduring hunger!
But before Miss Cat could take action, another crisp sound interrupted her again.
Feeling a little anxious and wanting to rush out, she saw that it was Su Li who had slapped that bad woman.
Just hearing that clear slap made Miss Cat feel extremely delighted, as if it was the most beautiful sound in the world.
Miss Cat couldn’t help but cheer for Su Li in her heart.
Seeing Su Li about to walk out, Miss Cat hurriedly found a place to hide.
She hadn’t helped at all.
If she went out now and saw Su Li like this, it might be awkward, right?
Although she thought Su Li was very cool right now.
And since Su Li had already taken care of everything, she hadn’t helped at all.
Rushing out might just cause Su Li more trouble.
So she quietly hid in a corner, watching Su Li carefully, not wanting to be noticed.
She didn’t know how to discuss this with Su Li, nor how to avoid it.
……
Meanwhile, while Su Li was in the restroom, Bai Huizi finally met Shen Cishu inside the Art Museum.
The other also noticed her and frowned slightly, her eyes full of hostility.
“Long time no see, little sister.”
Shen Cishu didn’t want to acknowledge Bai Huizi; her eyes were filled with deep disgust.
“I didn’t expect you’d come to the Art Museum too.”
“But I guess it’s understandable. People like you love nothing more than pretending to be cultured.”
Shen Cishu’s fingers clenched tightly on her clothes as she watched Bai Huizi’s hand, wearing a Gold Bracelet, gently caress the frame of the Parasol Woman Print.
That bracelet was supposed to be an heirloom left to her by Shen Cishu’s mother.
She didn’t know why it had ended up in Bai Huizi’s hands.
“Do you need me to remind you, my dear sister?”
“Monet was nearly blind when he painted this piece. What he hated most were vulgar things gilded in gold and silver.”
“I heard you bought an original Monet’s Parasol Woman Print last month?”
She suddenly turned and stared at her sister’s diamond-studded nails. “What a coincidence. Yesterday I saw the same print at the Secondhand Market—nine yuan ninety-nine, frame included.”
Bai Huizi didn’t seem to care about the mockery in Shen Cishu’s tone, maintaining a calm, indifferent expression.
Maybe it was because she’d been spending more time with Su Li recently, she occasionally liked to mimic Su Li’s expressionless face.
Especially, Bai Huizi realized, when the other was very angry and anxious, showing such an expression only made them angrier.
“Oh, really?”
“I also heard the Art Museum has a Monet original exhibition this time, so I wanted to come and see how it’s different from what I bought at the Secondhand Market.”
“But to me, it looks like there’s no difference.”
Bai Huizi’s fingers still lightly stroked the frame, while Shen Cishu’s eyes revealed profound disgust.
As if Bai Huizi were defiling the sacred art in her heart.
“Vulgar and despicable!”
“People like you in the Art Museum only pollute art.”
“Making the whole museum stink of vulgarity.”
