Saifina landed lightly from the rooftop, coming to stand opposite the Mummy Leader, meeting its hostile gaze.
Lin Shu used a vine to coil around her waist, gently lowering herself to the ground.
She turned and saw the devastation inside the shop.
She and Lia had passed by this shop before. In her memory, it used to display all sorts of fashionable, well-designed clothes, with luxurious decorations. Now, it was a complete mess.
How excessive.
She couldn’t let them keep rampaging here.
Her new ability wasn’t fully mastered yet, but at least it was highly mobile and could move according to her will.
Lin Shu manipulated several rose bramble vines, attacking the mummies that were still smashing things inside the shop, ensnaring them one after another.
“Argh! Argh! Argh! Argh!!” The mummies struggled, trying to tear free, but the thorns caught their bandages, entangling them even tighter.
“Master.” Lin Shu turned to ask, “What should we do with them?”
“What do you think, cutie?”
“Toss them out.” Lin Shu answered calmly.
Seeing Saifina had no objections, Lin Shu willed the mummies to be dragged outside, the vines lifting them high into the air.
All the vines swung together in one direction, flinging the bundled mummies out with force.
“Bang!!” The culprits all slammed into the wall of the house across the street.
Saifina smiled, praising her, “Nicely done, cutie.”
The Mummy Leader, infuriated, suddenly raised its hands high, striking a “Everyone, look at me!” pose:
“See that? The Dragos—they don’t just do dirty business, they beat people up too!”
Its wheezy voice made its angry roar sound downright comical.
“You started the fight, didn’t you?” Saifina corrected unhurriedly.
She closed her parasol, tapping the ground lightly with its tip. “Who sent you here to cause trouble?”
The Mummy Leader shouted, unconvinced, “What do you mean? I’m just here to get justice for myself!”
Saifina chuckled softly, knowing it was pointless to argue further. She gently poked the ground with her parasol’s tip.
In an instant, a dark red circular magic array unfolded beneath their feet.
The bramble vines around Lin Shu quickly converged on Saifina.
Lin Shu blinked in surprise, sensing that Saifina had seized control of the vines.
It was her domain skill.
“This shop is worth quite a bit. Those gaudy trinkets you’re wearing—I’ll be taking them as compensation.”
Saifina still wore a casual smile, but her tone was icy. Even Lin Shu could feel the pressure radiating from her.
“What are you trying to do?!”
With a flick of Saifina’s finger, the brambles surged forward, completely surrounding the mummy.
At her command, the vines stripped all the large golden jewelry from the mummy, which clattered to the ground.
“You?!”
It was furious, releasing more bandages from its body to tangle with the vines.
From a rooftop in the distance, Lia watched it all unfold.
Seeing the techniques used by Lin Shu and Saifina, she curled her lips in disdain.
The familiar contract between Saifina and Lin Shu was nothing much.
Just a few little rose brambles, swirling around like toys—what real damage could they do?
It was nowhere near the Blood Manipulation Art she’d given Lin Shu. At least she could make Lin Shu turn her blood into sharp weapons, causing actual harm.
Lin Shu, you should understand by now who’s the better master for you!
Lia snorted, determined to win Lin Shu back.
Saifina saw that the Mummy Leader was still struggling. Its bandages were clearly tougher than the vines, constantly tearing at its restraints.
Not good—it was about to break free. Lin Shu cried out inside.
She had to find a way to delay it and distract its attention before it got loose.
Lin Shu noticed a loose end sticking out from the mummy leader’s bandages…
Got it!
She waited for the right moment, then had one of the vines break away from the tangle, grab a corner of the mummy’s bandage, and yank hard.
“!!!”
All of the mummy leader’s bandages suddenly loosened, exposing the pitch-black torso beneath.
It hurriedly curled up, fumbling to pull its bandages back on.
The onlooking demons burst into laughter:
“Hey, bandage guy, you look just fine under there!”
“Knew it! I told you it was all dried out—there’s no rotten meat under those wrappings, hahaha!”
“Man, what a skinny stick…”
A few burly demons even started making “personal” jabs.
The mummy leader scrambled to recover its scattered bandages, glaring fiercely at Saifina.
Lin Shu stood behind her, quietly withdrawing the vine that had just caused the public embarrassment.
Damn it!
The Tepes family only wanted him to ruin the enemy’s business—the goal was accomplished; there was no need to keep tangling with them.
“Just you wait, you’ll get what’s coming to you!” It spat a final threat, turned, squeezed through the crowd, and fled in a panic.
Lin Shu took a few steps forward. “Master, should we give chase?”
Saifina gently shook her head. “No need. That kind only works for money. We know exactly who’s behind this, and we gave him a lesson in front of everyone. Let him go.”
With the troublemaker gone, the watching demons turned their attention to the two of them.
A female demon lifted her chin and called out loudly:
“Hey, Miss Saifina, why is that human following you?”
She fluttered her black wings and narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing Lin Shu.
“Is it trendy among you vampires to trade human pets now? Can I borrow her for a couple days?”
The female demon licked her lips, as if eager to taste human flesh.
Lin Shu felt her gaze, a chill running down her spine.
On this continent full of demons, she’d endured countless such hungry, ill-intentioned stares.
As if in their eyes, she was just a walking loaf of bread.
No sooner had the words left the demon’s mouth than Saifina snapped open her parasol. From inside, countless black bats burst forth, swooping straight at the female demon.
The bats formed a swift black blur and slammed into her.
She was sent flying, crashing to the ground with a muffled groan.
“Oh dear, my apologies.” Saifina feigned surprise, setting her parasol aside, but her eyes were chillingly cold.
She walked forward a few steps, high heels clicking crisply against the ground.
“I know some folks, seeing the Drago family lose ground tonight, think our family is about to fall,”
“Think what you like. I don’t mind.” Saifina lifted her white skirt, bowed elegantly, then raised her head, crimson eyes flashing coldly. “But…”
“Lin Shu is not some exchange pet.”
“She follows me because she chooses to.” Saifina shifted her parasol aside, stepping in front of Lin Shu to shield her from the demons’ prying eyes.
“Right now, she belongs to the Drago family. Anyone who makes a move on her is making an enemy of my family.”
“If you’ve had your fun, then please, everyone, be on your way.”
