“Wife, are you hurt?”
Isabella had sensed an abnormal surge of magical power and immediately dropped everything to rush down.
The moment she arrived at the alchemy chamber, she took in the scene before her.
The Saintess Loli quickly explained, “It was just a minor interruption. Master is unharmed.”
But no matter how you looked at it, this didn’t seem like a minor issue that could be brushed off so easily…
In the center of the chamber, a female knight—or rather, a petite girl radiating immense power—was kneeling on the floor, glaring venomously at her.
Isabella’s brows furrowed. That familiar aura stirred the old hatred buried deep within her once more.
She vaguely remembered this girl.
Back when she was still the Evil God, this girl and several others called Heavenly Heralds had fought her in battle.
It had been a brutal war, ending with both sides gravely wounded.
In the end, she had died.
The memory of Gabriella piercing her chest lingered in her mind.
Though her wife’s comfort had softened the pain in her heart, seeing this girl still ignited a spark of loathing.
“Lady Isabella, as Loli said—I’m fine.”
Gabriella slowly walked to her side, taking her hand and trying to lift Isabella’s spirits.
Her left hand—the one bearing the ring—was crawling with shadow.
The striking mark in her eyes symbolized absolute obedience.
In this state, though Gabriella retained her own consciousness, Isabella could dominate her with a single [Command].
It was as if Gabriella had handed complete control of herself over to her.
Isabella immediately pulled Gabriella into a hug, gently patting her back.
The anger in her eyes melted into doting affection.
“Master~ I’m really okay. She couldn’t do anything to me. The crisis is already resolved.”
“For something this dangerous, you have to tell me next time.”
“I understand~ But to me, Master, this wasn’t dangerous at all.”
Gabriella shot a contemptuous glance toward Philina.
Her entire body pressed against Isabella’s, even her soft demonic tail entwining with the other’s—black heart-shaped tips rubbing and curling together.
Isabella gazed at Philina with an expression that clearly said, “Don’t even think about taking my wife.”
Philina despaired.
In danger?
She thought I would hurt Gabriella?!
And what was with calling her “Master”?!
Even the apostles of the past had never used such an embarrassing term for the Evil God.
Had Gabriella truly been reduced to some kind of slave by the Evil God?
She had considered the possibility that Gabriella was corrupted by demonification, but she never imagined it had progressed this far.
And Isabella’s rate of power recovery was astonishing—as if someone were secretly aiding her.
Philina could scarcely believe it.
She had to find a way to save Gabriella now—or at least awaken the conscience buried within her.
“Evil God, you will never control Gabriella’s pure soul. She will never belong to you—mm…”
Before she could finish, her body went limp, nearly collapsing.
Only then did she realize the sealing ring around her neck was releasing shadow, trying to burrow into her body.
With her power restricted, she had no way to resist the darkness.
To avoid being corrupted like Gabriella, she poured all her remaining strength into fighting it, collapsing to her knees once more.
From the outside, it looked as though Gabriella were tormenting her.
“Do not harbor any thoughts of resisting my master.”
“Urgh…”
Philina trembled, using what little power she had left to fend off the darkness.
It didn’t look easy, but it would certainly keep her occupied for a while.
Seeing this, Gabriella led the Saintess Loli and Isabella out of the basement.
She locked the alchemy chamber door behind them and layered magical wards to prevent Philina from escaping.
During this, Gabriella felt she might have gone a bit too far.
Not toward this idiot Philina—toward herself.
Had she been too thorough?
But as long as it maintained peace and stability in the residential palace, everything was perfectly reasonable.
Her master still seemed unhappy, as if the earlier scene had soured her mood.
She looked at Gabriella with worry, clearly remembering something unpleasant.
Gabriella immediately guessed how distressing that so-called past must have been.
Though she didn’t yet know the details, the Heavenly Heralds and apostles had undoubtedly clashed fiercely.
Isabella must have hated her deeply—someone invading her domain and even trying to take away the wife who loved her most?!
So Gabriella wrapped an arm around her shoulders, hugging her tightly. The shadow patterns in her eyes grew even more pronounced.
But before Gabriella could continue comforting the Demon King, Isabella unexpectedly seemed more worried than her.
“Gabriella, don’t worry about someone disrupting our life. I’ll handle her properly.”
“Eh?”
Isabella gently stroked the tail pressed against her body.
Unknowingly, she had grown accustomed to it.
Though it was still a bit strange, as a tool for comforting this idiot Isabella, it was quite useful.
Being suddenly embraced still made her tense, though.
“Ahwoo~”
By now, all the concern had vanished from Isabella’s face.
She even looked a little nervous—her heartbeat quickening, her tail swaying faster… Ever since Gabriella had grown a tail, it had become easy to notice how the Demon King’s tail reacted to her emotions.
“Of course I’m yours, Lady Demon King~ I said I’d take responsibility for the past.”
“Did you?”
Isabella blushed slightly.
“I…”
Gabriella let out a small “eh,” realizing this might indeed be the first time she’d said such a thing to Isabella.
For a moment, she felt embarrassed too.
Nothing more came out—just that the previously serious atmosphere reignited into passionate warmth amid their racing heartbeats.
“Gabriella, I’m not joking. Something like this should be left to me—it’s the most suitable.”
Isabella grew increasingly shy as she spoke.
“Besides… you’re preparing for a baby. Getting too angry isn’t good for the child.”
“Preparing for…”
Gabriella froze on the spot.
Her mind seemed to short-circuit, white smoke practically rising from her head.
When she came to, she couldn’t lift her face—and her hand instinctively caressed her abdomen, which was gradually adapting to a demonic baby.
Indeed—what on earth am I doing?
There was so much preparation needed to bear the Demon King’s little one.
She absolutely couldn’t slack off now.
With that, the two embraced once more, entwining in tender passion.
