“Creak~”
The door to the treatment room slowly opened.
A medical staff member entered, intending to check the equipment and see if Jin Ke’er was feeling any discomfort.
“Miss Jin, are you feeling—”
Before she could finish speaking, she noticed the contorted expression on Jin Ke’er’s face.
“Miss Jin…”
“Come here!”
Jin Ke’er’s voice was icy cold, sweat trickling down her cheeks.
For a moment, she couldn’t clearly see the figure in front of her.
The pain had blurred her consciousness.
Waves of heat and cold surged between her legs, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.
The nurse didn’t quite understand, but still cautiously moved closer.
This patient wasn’t someone she could afford to offend—she knew even the hospital director had to follow her orders obediently.
“Slap!”
A sharp, loud slap rang out.
The nurse held her now-reddened cheek, stunned.
The sting made her cry out in surprise.
It wasn’t until she heard the nurse’s cry that Jin Ke’er snapped back to her senses.
She realized the person in front of her wasn’t Su Li…
The pain had made her lose control, and in that moment, she mistook the nurse for Su Li and reflexively slapped her.
Realizing what she’d done, Jin Ke’er’s hatred toward Su Li only deepened.
It was all because Su Li never decisively refused her—that’s why she lost control and did something like this!
Now she was embarrassed in front of an outsider!
If it weren’t for Su Li, how could she have failed to hold back that overwhelming urge to pee just now?
“Name your price. I don’t want anyone to know what just happened.”
The nurse trembled slightly, stunned by Jin Ke’er’s words.
She raised her index finger, hesitating.
But before she could speak, Jin Ke’er cut her off.
“100,000, right?”
“No problem. But I don’t want anyone to know what just happened.”
The nurse swallowed her words and nodded.
“There’s no one else in the observation room right now, it’s just me here. No one will know about this.”
Even after the nurse left, Jin Ke’er was still enduring the electric current pulsing through her legs, bringing a stinging pain.
But as the electrotherapy continued, the sharp pain gradually faded, replaced by a growing numbness.
Then came overwhelming fatigue, like muscle soreness after prolonged physical exertion—tightness and a dull ache.
Jin Ke’er felt her legs becoming incredibly heavy.
Still, it was much better than the sharp pain from earlier.
By the time the first round of electrotherapy ended, her once-damp clothes had already dried from the breeze.
Aside from the muscle soreness, she felt a strange sense of relief.
But compared to having Su Li take care of her, this sense of comfort felt much weaker.
Damn it!
Why was she thinking about such irritating things again?
Jin Ke’er furrowed her brows, her expression returning to its usual coldness.
But once the treatment was over and she was alone in the empty room, Jin Ke’er suddenly felt unsettled.
Especially now, being in a foreign country.
She began to reflect—how had she gotten through those times when she was alone in the past…
Her heart was filled with violent impulses, always craving to destroy something.
She stared at the treatment equipment before her but finally forced one hand to hold back the other.
Struggling to suppress the destructive urge rising inside her.
She had to admit that the only reason she managed to endure those lonely nights before was because she would always spend the late hours thinking about what she’d do to Su Li the next day.
What new orders she would give her!
Even though she knew deep down it was the wrong choice—that it would only stain her otherwise flawless resume—she still thought of Su Li.
Jin Ke’er lay on the bed, unable to resist opening her contacts and staring at the number saved under the label “Worthless Toy.”
It was Su Li’s number.
In the past, whenever she called that number during the day, Su Li would rush to her side as fast as possible.
It should be daytime in Su Li’s country now, right?
Jin Ke’er looked out at the star-filled sky.
It didn’t look much better than back home.
What was Su Li doing now?
As she thought about it, a faint smile curled at Jin Ke’er’s lips.
Her partnership with Su Li was over.
Su Li was probably filled with guilt and regret for missing this chance.
And deeply reflecting on her actions!
Torn by the thought that she might have accidentally revealed that vague, hidden affection in her heart—and that Jin Ke’er might’ve noticed!
How could a lowly toad possibly dream of being with a noble white swan?
Only in fairy tales does a princess marry some peasant from the countryside.
A princess always belongs to a prince!
Her fingers trembled slightly.
Even though she knew she shouldn’t reach out to Su Li again—
They were never from the same world.
But her fingers moved on their own, as if possessed, and dialed the number.
Jin Ke’er frowned, but quickly found an excuse for her actions.
It wasn’t like she missed Su Li.
She just wanted to yell at her to blow off some steam.
Besides, with her status, scolding a subordinate was completely normal.
Scolding Su Li, naturally, was no different.
As long as she was willing to pay, everything matched her current identity!
And it wasn’t like she lacked money.
She could do whatever she wanted.
Worrying over a lowly commoner like her—wouldn’t that make her seem incompetent?
“The number you have dialed cannot be reached at the moment. Please try again later.”
“The number you have dialed cannot be reached at the moment. Please try again later.”
“The number you have dialed cannot be reached at the moment. Please try again later.”
Jin Ke’er frowned. She had never been rejected or blocked before, and now she didn’t know what was going on.
All she could do was redial the number again and again.
Her frustration started to mount.
After many failed attempts, Jin Ke’er stared at the dial screen, the same “unable to connect” message repeating in her ears.
She began to panic slightly, her hand shaking as she held the phone, breathing heavily.
“Su Li… did something happen to Su Li?”
Su Li’s delicate face appeared in her mind—like someone anyone could bully.
A face so pitiful, so fragile, it didn’t inspire protection, but instead fueled a destructive urge—the urge to ruin her.
Realizing she was actually worried about Su Li, Jin Ke’er stopped calling.
Instead, she took a deep breath to steady herself.
In a cold voice, she muttered to herself:
“How could I possibly be worried about Su Li… She’s just a worthless commoner, there’s plenty of her out there. Just a little distraction when I’m bored!”
“Who would worry about a toy?”
