After killing those two zombies, Lin Mo’s experience bar changed to 4/5.
Just one more zombie kill, and he could level up again.
“I wonder how much my stats will increase after the next level up?”
Lin Mo felt a sense of anticipation.
After all, he had just experienced the benefits of stat improvements firsthand.
If his agility and spirit hadn’t been enhanced, his original body would never have been able to catch that axe earlier.
After resting for a while, Lin Mo washed the blood off his face and hands at the hallway water dispenser before the three of them continued their descent.
The following path seemed unusually smooth.
All the way to the second floor, not a single zombie appeared at least not in the hallway.
As for inside the dorm rooms, who knew how many might be lurking there.
Lin Mo didn’t dwell on it too much.
Those concerns could wait; the priority now was finding food.
The two behind him were already on the verge of starvation.
The first-floor hallway remained eerily quiet.
Lin Mo glanced around but found nothing but emptiness.
Zhou Kai and Zhang Yu immediately turned their gaze toward the dormitory management center-their hope for survival lay there.
“Hmm?”
Just then, Lin Mo suddenly paused and raised a hand to stop the other two.
“What’s wrong?”
Zhou Kai asked impatiently.
After finally dealing with those terrifying zombies, he couldn’t wait to eat.
“I think I heard something…”
Lin Mo frowned, listening carefully.
Sure enough, there was movement coming from one of the dorm rooms -but it didn’t sound like a zombie…
“A person?”
The thought crossed Lin Mo’s mind.
Come to think of it, during their descent, he had no idea how many survivors might still be hiding in the dorms.
They had skipped floors without zombies, only stopping briefly on the fourth floor.
Maybe there were no survivors there, or perhaps people were too afraid to make noise after hearing the zombies outside.
“Anyone there?”
Considering the possibility, Lin Mo called out. Given the devastation outside, probably less than half had survived.
Besides, more people meant more strength, and someone on the first floor might know something useful.
“A person?”
A voice responded from inside the room.
“Yes,” Lin Mo replied.
There was a brief silence behind the door before a soft click signaled it opening slightly, revealing half a face filled with unease.
Lin Mo smiled at him.
Being cautious was understandable in these times.
The person quickly scanned the hallway and whispered, “Come in first!”
After a moment’s thought, Lin Mo stepped inside without objection.
Zhang Yu and Zhou Kai exchanged glances before following suit.
Unconsciously, the trio had begun to regard Lin Mo as their leader.
Once inside, the boy handed them some snacks.
Zhou Kai’s eyes lit up, and he wolfed them down like a starving wolf.
Zhang Yu also stuffed food into his mouth immediately.
Lin Mo, having leveled up earlier, wasn’t as hungry and ate slowly instead.
“So you are…”
The boy sat on the edge of the bed, eyeing the three of them curiously.
Not many dared to wander around recklessly in this dangerous apocalypse.
“I’ll be straight with you. We live on the sixth floor and came down to get keys from the dorm management office so we can search other rooms for food,” Lin Mo said frankly without hiding anything.
“What? The sixth floor?”
The young man was stunned.
This was the first floor-had these three really descended five floors?
“Didn’t you run into any Zombies?” he asked in surprise.
“Of course we did,” Lin Mo replied with a bitter smile, then raised the axe in his hand, still stained with Zombie blood.
“See?”
“Ah-!”
The young man jumped in fright, nearly screaming, but he managed to stay somewhat composed and didn’t make too much noise.
