The maiden wore the same style of maid uniform as Olivia, sealing her frost-like demeanor beneath the cute clothing.
However, she still radiated an aura that made others hesitant to approach.
For a brief moment, Gabriella felt as if she had returned to the inner palace, standing before two mouthwatering maids.
Yet Gabriella only felt a little suffocated.
So Mother Olivia actually managed to sweet-talk Celestial God Creis into wearing a maid uniform?!
“Gabriella.”
Creis’s voice carried no obvious emotion.
She was even colder than Ice Saint Tina (back when Tina first entered the inner palace for maid training).
If the latter was cold on the outside but warm inside, then Creis was simply an icicle.
Her ethereal voice sent chills down the spine.
Gabriella had originally felt some repulsion toward Creis, but after seeing her in the maid uniform she found her much cuter.
After all, the Celestial God was an existence on the same level as the Evil God.
If the memories from her dreams were accurate and Evil God Isabella really was a “defective product,” then the Celestial God’s strength might actually surpass that of Evil God Isabella.
Their backgrounds were likely connected in some way.
In any case, she should test the waters first.
“May I ask, miss, who are you…?”
Creis blinked her beautiful eyes but did not speak.
She simply looked at Gabriella.
Although no clear emotion showed on her face, her gaze was like someone admiring a work of art—or rather, a priceless treasure.
Olivia’s voice broke the silence:
“She is the vice-captain of the Royal Knight Guard, Creis~ Little Gabriella, her current duty is to protect you.”
“Mom~”
Gabriella suddenly understood!
She had no idea how Olivia had managed to trick the Celestial God, but she decided to play along and make full use of the situation.
“Aren’t the Royal Knights specifically the guard unit that protects dukes? After Holy Queen Simona ascended the throne, she reorganized these knights. They are now the knights who specifically protect the holy officials within the city.”
“I understand.”
Gabriella pretended to only half-understand as she looked at Creis.
The latter tilted her head and looked back at her.
The faint light dancing in her eyes and the cross-star patterns created a momentary resonance between them.
However, Gabriella’s lips curved upward.
“Is that so, Miss Creis? Then why aren’t you the captain of the Royal Knights?”
Creis clearly didn’t know how to respond to Gabriella’s words.
This time, Olivia did not help Celestial God Creis answer.
Gabriella had no intention of letting the Celestial God off easy.
She knew the person before her was the very god who had brought suffering to the Heavenly Oracle Envoys.
Seeing her look so troubled, Gabriella’s eyes grew even more teasing.
“I…”
Creis finally spoke.
She recalled the way Olivia had taught her and placed her hands modestly in front of her, like an emotionless girl trying her best to act out her role in a stage play.
“As vice-captain, I can still protect you well, Gabriella.”
“Protect?”
“Your body is not in good condition and requires meticulous care.”
Creis’s voice was extremely straightforward.
For a moment, even Gabriella didn’t know how to react.
“Mhm.”
She had been pretending that the Evil God had drained her power and then fainted, so her current “setting” should be that of a frail, sickly knight maiden.
However, Gabriella really did feel that her body was somewhat strange.
Originally, her Holy Body was supposed to be a replacement for her weak human body, but since her original body had already become a demon, the power within the Holy Body had not perfectly fused with her demonic power.
Controlling the Holy Body felt like operating a robot from the cockpit.
But now, Gabriella clearly felt that the Holy Body had become much lighter.
This change seemed to have started after she recalled the past—specifically the memory of Elsa dying in her arms.
She needed some time to adjust.
If she could fuse the Holy Body with her demon body, then the Holy Body could be completely controlled by Master.
In the future, Master wouldn’t even need physical contact to draw out her power.
Gabriella felt this was an honorable thing.
“It feels really comfortable~”
Creis’s voice pulled Gabriella out of her thoughts again.
“I will accompany you twenty-four hours a day. This way, you might feel more comfortable.”
“Miss Creis~”
Gabriella gave her a smile.
“Actually, I don’t need any help, so could you please not disturb me?”
Now Gabriella had given her this request.
Creis nodded, but then felt something was off.
Didn’t this mean she was agreeing to resign from this job?
Creis looked toward Olivia, but the latter had already walked out of the room and gently closed the door.
“I’ll go clean the rooms~”
Now Miss Creis had no one to rely on.
She looked at Gabriella, unsure how to respond to her rejection.
“I… I…”
Creis seemed to have frozen, unable to say anything.
As a maid, if she made her master unhappy, the proper thing to do was apologize, right?
“I’m sorry.”
Creis gave a slight bow, lifting the hem of her skirt in a proper curtsy.
“I… only…”
“I was just joking, Miss Creis.”
Just as Creis was still figuring out how to answer the previous question, Gabriella had already climbed out of bed.
The white nightgown she wore was the same one from the inner palace.
She reached out and patted Creis on the head.
A sly glint flashed in her smile before it quickly turned gentle again.
“We have plenty of time, don’t we?”
“Yes…”
Creis thought for a moment before snapping back to reality.
So Gabriella had just been a little moody earlier.
Gabriella put on a pair of fluffy bear slippers and walked out of the room.
The corridor floor was still slightly damp, having just been wiped.
Creis followed closely behind her.
As they walked, Gabriella thought of several ways to make things difficult for Creis.
She discovered that she quite enjoyed teasing this god.
“Show me around the new environment. While you’re at it, introduce me to your Royal Guards~?”
“Royal Knights!”
Of course Creis knew nothing about any so-called Royal Knights.
She had only awakened less than a day ago and had no idea how the human world had developed.
Yet her answer flowed smoothly:
“The Royal Knights have sworn loyalty to Her Highness the Saint Son. I followed the Captain here to protect you.”
“Captain?”
“Yes. Her name is Isa. She’s downstairs.”
The name sounded somewhat familiar.
