Su Lihua’s expression froze instantly.
She noticed that all the other demons had turned their attention to her because of the Bishop’s words, their eyes fierce and murderous.
If it weren’t for the fact that this was the moment of sacrifice, they would have torn her apart on the spot.
Even the man in the suit, upon hearing the Bishop’s words, distanced himself from Su Lihua and glared at her just as viciously.
To be honest, Su Lihua really wanted to turn around and glare at whoever was behind her, pretending the Bishop wasn’t talking about her.
But unfortunately, she was already in the last row, and there was no one behind her at all.
She could only offer a weak, awkward smile to the vicious stares of the demons, shrinking her neck as she spoke.
“Um… I think there might be a little misunderstanding here, Bishop-sama.”
“I’m Danny! You even held me when I was a kid… Wait, no, I held you when I was a kid… No, that’s not right, it’s just, well, um…”
Su Lihua herself didn’t even know what she was saying anymore.
Things had changed so quickly that her mind had short-circuited.
One moment, the Bishop was reciting loudly, and the next, with just a few words, he had turned every demon’s hostility toward her.
“Has she already started spouting nonsense…?”
Seeing Su Lihua so panicked and helpless, the Demon Bishop let out a light sigh.
“It seems I’ll have to personally perform the prelude before tonight’s banquet for the Lord.”
As the Demon Bishop spoke, the letters on the blood-red Gospel of Blood in his hand began to rapidly shift, transforming into the Revelation.
The pages flipped open.
A sense of calamity and ominousness filled the air.
The Demon Bishop raised his right hand, holding the Revelation in his left, and from the blood-red glow that radiated from his side, several spears dripping with the scent of blood materialized and shot toward the intruder.
The spears were so fast, they streaked like lightning, leaving afterimages in the air.
With Su Lihua’s level of agility, she had absolutely no way to dodge.
She looked like she had been stunned by the sudden attack, sitting there blankly in her silly, knees-hugged posture, as if waiting for the spears to impale her.
But in the next instant, a snow-white sword light slashed out from behind the wall, tearing through buildings and furniture in its path, bypassing Su Lihua and moving directly in front of the spears’ path, slicing them all apart.
The spears dissolved into wisps of blood mist and vanished, but the sword light didn’t lose momentum, shooting straight toward the Demon Bishop.
But the Demon Bishop only glanced calmly at the sword light, then snapped the blood-colored Revelation shut and smacked it directly against the sword light.
If the book in his hand had been an ordinary one, facing this sword light that could cut through anything, it would have been sliced in two instantly.
But the Revelation was as hard as the toughest steel.
When it collided with the sword light, it rang with a metallic clang.
In the next second, the sword light shattered beneath the Demon Bishop’s palm.
He paid it no mind, though.
His gaze pierced straight through to the direction the sword light had come from.
The Demon Bishop knew very well that the dim-witted one wasn’t today’s main character.
The one who had unleashed the sword light was.
At some point, Bai Shuanglian’s cold and beautiful figure appeared in the Demon Bishop’s field of vision.
She didn’t radiate overwhelming power, but just by standing there, she was impossible to ignore.
If anything, she was like an unsheathed sword—sharp, and no one could tell when it would strike with deadly force.
Ling Xiaoyou poked her head out from behind her, scanning the room before quickly spotting Su Lihua.
“I’m here to cover you, Su Lihua!”
Ling Xiaoyou rushed to Su Lihua’s side, grabbed her shoulders, and shook her, trying to snap the dazed, chuunibyou girl out of her stupor.
All the while, Bai Shuanglian’s spiritual sense remained locked on the Demon Bishop and the demons at his side.
If they made any move, the ice-blue longsword in her hand would ignite with sword light once again.
The demons made no moves, or rather, they didn’t care about the two ghostly spirits who didn’t look like they could put up a fight.
“Eh, Ling Xiaoyou… and Bai Shuanglian!”
Su Lihua blinked, then exploded with joy.
Reinforcements were finally here!
She immediately grabbed Ling Xiaoyou and hid behind Bai Shuanglian with impressive speed.
She was so practiced that even Ling Xiaoyou was stunned, not understanding why this silly girl was so skilled at it.
But now wasn’t the time to ask questions.
They needed to deal with the enemies in front of them first!
Ling Xiaoyou looked at the Demon Bishop and the demons who had risen from prayer and were now standing behind him.
“Go, Bai Shuanglian! Give these cult demons who worship their Belief System a taste of Eastern Radiance’s might!”
Su Lihua perfectly embodied the phrase “a dog depends on its master for strength” at this moment.
Because she was hiding behind Bai Shuanglian, someone reliable, she was completely unafraid now!
“Stay put and don’t distract Bai Shuanglian.”
Ling Xiaoyou hurriedly stopped Su Lihua.
Didn’t she see that the demons’ eyes turned red at the mention of the cult?
Don’t provoke them into entering berserk mode just by yelling at them.
“Oh.”
Su Lihua noticed the demons’ murderous glares and instinctively shrank her neck, but then remembered she had strong backup and glared right back.
“Exorcists?”
The Demon Bishop ignored Su Lihua’s rant.
To him, she was just a small fry—hardly worth mentioning.
He looked with interest at the cold-faced Bai Shuanglian, then at the two little spirits hiding behind her.
“And two ghostly souls as well?”
“Interesting. To think Exorcists and spirits, who should be enemies, would stand on the same front. Is this what they call ‘in the face of a common enemy, even foes set aside hatred’?”
“And what about you all?”
Bai Shuanglian stared at the Demon Bishop, her beautiful, cold face stern.
“You demons shouldn’t have come to Eastern Radiance, yet you did, and even gathered for a cult meeting.”
“Heh, cult.”
The Demon Bishop sneered.
“Ignorant humans are always so arrogant, labeling any unified greatness they can’t comprehend as evil.”
“But how could you pitiful creatures ever understand the holiness and compassion of my Lord?”
“Holiness?”
Hiding behind Bai Shuanglian, Ling Xiaoyou blinked at his words.
She poked out her head, glanced at the statue the demons had prayed to so devoutly, pinched her chin in thought, then looked at the Demon Bishop.
“So, you guys think tentacles are holy or something?”
As she spoke, her expression grew stranger.
“Don’t tell me you’re all a bunch of tentacle maniacs, and because no one understands your XP System, you closed yourselves off and started acting out?”
“And now you want to make everyone else understand your XP too?”
