“Saintess’s Care……”
Rachel’s heart was like a stormy sea, tossed by raging waves that refused to calm.
She knew very well just how valuable the Condition of Truth was.
The highest leader of the Demon Hunters was the Goddess of Life herself, and beneath the Seat of the Goddess of Life were the Twelve Saintesses—Her earthly representatives, holding status on par with several of Her Envoys.
For Rachel, a single word from a Saintess could transfer her from a small place like the Watchfort to the capital city, Wangdu, brimming with opportunities. More importantly, her Teacher once said that if she worked hard to grow, there was a high chance she could become a new Envoy of the Goddess one day.
Having the Eye of Absolution already meant she had the favor of the Goddess. If she could also gain the care of a Saintess…
“Gulp.”
Rachel swallowed and looked at Truth’s pale, constantly moving small feet. Every time her gaze landed on those feet, she felt a sharp sting of humiliation… and opportunity.
Now, a question lay before her: which was more important, pride or the future?
She vaguely recalled her Teacher saying, “Demon Hunters don’t need to flatter anyone. If you want to improve yourself, pick up your sword and hunt down every demon you see!”
Yes, Demon Hunters didn’t need to flatter anyone, but her Teacher had also said, “You must seize every hard-won opportunity”…
“R-Really?”
Rachel was still wary and cautiously asked Truth.
“As a future Saintess of the Goddess, do you think I would lie to you?” Truth rested her right hand on her cheek and replied, “I’m not lying to you. It’s just that my ‘care’ is a little different from ordinary Saintesses’, teehee.”
Indeed, those chosen as Saintesses wouldn’t do anything to damage the Goddess’s reputation by lying.
Immediately, the scales in Rachel’s heart began to tip swiftly from “dignity” toward “future.”
“Let me confirm once more—if I apologize using your method, you’ll take care of me from then on, right?”
It was just licking a foot after all, and it wouldn’t get out. Rachel didn’t believe Truth would go around telling others that someone licked her feet.
“If you don’t want to, then forget it. I won’t force you,” Truth said lightly as she started putting on her shoes.
Someone quickly panicked:
“No!”
Rachel sped forward and slid into a kneeling position before Truth. As a girl, she wasn’t particularly opposed to kneeling or bowing, but the pink-tinged soles of those feet before her…
“I promise,” Rachel bit her lip and whispered.
She gently tried to hold and tidy Truth’s right foot. Soft, smooth, and well cared for. There was no unpleasant smell.
“Mm!”
Truth immediately covered her mouth, almost making a sound.
Hehe, having a beautiful girl kneel before you, licking your feet in humiliation, was a kind of pleasure that had to be experienced.
Seeing the expression on Rachel’s face—full of disgrace, helplessness, and a hint of hope—made Truth feel a deep sense of delight.
Why were her feet so sensitive? So ticklish!
Just a few gentle strokes made Truth itch intensely. Was this normal? She wasn’t sure; after all, no one had ever licked her feet before.
“What’s wrong?”
Sensing Truth’s odd reaction, Rachel looked up and noticed a faint blush on her cheeks. Was that…
Shyness?
How cute… Seeing this adorable side of Truth made Rachel feel less averse to licking her feet. What was happening?
“Nothing’s wrong. Now, are you going to apologize or not?” Truth forced the words out; she absolutely couldn’t back down now.
“Oh, okay.”
Without hesitation, Rachel parted her lips slightly, letting a warm breath touch Truth’s foot. Instantly, a tingling electric current spread from the sole of her foot through her whole body.
“Mm!”
No, this feeling was strange. It was completely different from what she had imagined!
Wasn’t she supposed to be looking down on Rachel with disdain, watching her humiliate herself by sticking out her tongue to lick her feet, then stamping her feet hard on her face while laughing, “What a shameless useless Demon Hunter”?!
Suddenly, Rachel’s soft tongue touched Truth’s toes, startling her so much that her whole body shivered and her hands clamped down over her mouth even tighter.
Hold it in—if she made a sound now, all her authority would be lost.
Hmm… I don’t feel anything special. It’s nothing like I expected. I thought doing this would really hurt my pride, but it doesn’t. Why are her feet moving around so much? Is she teasing me?
Rachel gripped Truth’s restless small foot tightly with both hands and tried tracing the sole gently with her tongue.
Truth, sitting on the chair, widened her eyes, her pink pupils shrinking. A tingling sensation spread throughout her body until she finally couldn’t hold back a soft moan that could make anyone’s bones go weak just by hearing it:
“Mmnn!”
.
At the entrance of the Watchfort military camp, a vast army was neatly lined up, preparing to march into the Watchfort town to suppress the rebellion.
At that moment, a convoy of three luxury carriages suddenly appeared not far off. The lead carriage bore a white flag with green stripes and the emblem of the Saintess.
“Saintess?”
The soldiers all looked at the unexpected convoy, just about to stop them to verify identities, when Kavel’s subordinate—the Demon Hunter Morpheus—intervened:
“Do not be rude to the Saintess. Open the gates and let the convoy in!”
Morpheus had already received Kavel’s message yesterday. There was a border rebellion, and someone from the capital, Wangdu, named Raul—a person with a strong background—had died inside the Watchfort.
The Saintess Aisia’s convoy happened to be passing through, so they gave the Demon Hunters advance notice, intending to come and see what was happening.
A border rebellion? And a Great Family’s member died? This was serious business…
The convoy slowly entered the military camp and stopped.
Soon, from the lead luxury carriage, a petite girl with light blue hair stepped down gracefully.
Her movements were light and elegant. Her hair was carefully braided into soft strands, tied with white ribbons.
Her bright blue eyes curiously scanned the surroundings. Morpheus quickly led his men forward and saluted:
“Welcome, Saintess!”
“Greetings.” Saintess Aisia lifted her gown in a polite return, each of her movements exuding a life-affirming aura that made many Demon Hunters and soldiers want to get closer to her.
Just being near the Saintess could prolong one’s life!
However, Aisia’s attendants promptly formed a protective circle around her, and at the next moment, the intimidating presence of two Eighth-Rank Warriors enveloped the area.
These two were Aisia’s Royal Guard.
Eighth-Rank Guards… and two of them. As expected of a Saintess. Coming to the border meant being guarded so heavily, plus the mysterious Ninth Rank Dark Guard lurking in the shadows.
Even an Original Demon would be powerless against the Saintess, Morpheus thought quietly.
“Your Demon Hunters said that the Quasi-Saintess is resting inside the camp. Where is she now?” Aisia asked Morpheus.
Originally, she could have sent a few guards to assist in suppressing the rebellion and continued on to Deya City herself.
But hearing from Kavel that Quasi-Saintess Truth was also in the camp, she had come here personally.
Currently, there were only eight Saintesses; Truth was the ninth. Aisia looked forward to meeting her new sister, hoping their personalities would get along.
Privately, Aisia was carefree and loved exploring new things. But due to the Saintess Rituals, she maintained a gentle and kind persona in front of others.
Following Morpheus to the tent where Truth was, Morpheus asked the two Demon Hunters at the entrance:
“Is Miss Truth still inside?”
“Uh… yes, but they seem to be a bit…” One of the guards didn’t finish speaking before strange curses and… moans sounded from within the tent.
Since earlier, odd noises had occasionally come from inside the tent.
“Hm?” Aisia tilted her head and perked up her ears. What was going on inside?
