“Damn Magical Girl!”
The Royal-Class Magic Beast, seeing the situation, realized it no longer had time to worry about its two subordinates.
Its current mission was to quickly escape from the encirclement of the Magical Girls.
“What? We’re letting it get away? Isn’t Long Wen just too weak…”
Luo Shuangyue was about to make a snide remark, but then remembered that Xia Mo was sitting right across from her.
If she slipped up and Xia Mo acted as a tattletale, wouldn’t she be done for?
Still, her meaning had come across clearly enough.
Honestly, with the conditions set up so well for Long Wen, how could she still fail to capture the Royal-Class Magic Beast?
“This Royal-Class Magic Beast is quite clever. When it realized it was surrounded, it activated the magic inside its two subordinates, turning them into the same kind of creatures we dealt with before, distracting the seniors’ attention.”
Xia Mo defended Long Wen while sipping her coffee.
Royal-Class Magic Beasts were never easy to kill; usually, it took several Full Bloom-Class Magical Girls working together.
This time, there was only Long Wen, a Full Bloom-Class Magical Girl, to handle the beast. It was still quite difficult to completely
eliminate it.
Looking at Luo Shuangyue, who seemed to have completely immersed herself in the role of Dark Moth and couldn’t pull herself out, Xia Mo suddenly had a thought she felt was a bit inappropriate.
She found that this current Shuangyue was even more charming than usual.
Normally, Shuangyue always had a clear sense of restraint about her, but when she was in the Dark Moth persona, that restraint turned into a feeling of freedom, as if it was Dark Moth playing the role of Luo Shuangyue, not Luo Shuangyue playing Dark Moth.
“Your gaze is a bit weird…” Noticing the subtle change in Xia Mo’s eyes, Luo Shuangyue couldn’t help but shrink her neck.
What’s up with Xia Mo? That look just now was practically dripping with something!
“Is it weird?”
“Very weird, like someone looking at their lover.” Luo Shuangyue nodded emphatically.
Xia Mo, oh Xia Mo, you already have someone you like!
You shouldn’t look at someone else with eyes like that, you know
The person you like is Luo Xiangyue, not Dark Moth!
“You really like to joke around. I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you; I just want to be friends.” Xia Mo shook her head.
Of course, that was a total lie, but Xia Mo found that saying it didn’t make her feel embarrassed at all.
Her thoughts were something like, Shuangyue, you’ve tricked me so many times for so long, so isn’t it fair if I pay you back a little?
Friends? Is this what you Magical Girls call friendship? Luo Shuangyue would never believe Xia Mo’s nonsense—her gaze just now was nothing like how you’d look at a friend.
Unless, of course, you told her that the so-called friendship between Magical Girls was actually that kind of “friendship.”
“We’re enemies, we can’t be friends.” Emphasizing once again the difference in their positions, Luo Shuangyue, sitting in an enemy-run Café drinking coffee with her enemy, spoke up, “So, what did you come to see me for today?”
“Can’t I just come to see you to chat if there’s nothing else? I was busy till late last night, and today I don’t have anything to do. Besides, the place we used to train has just been taken over by a Magic Beast as its hideout, and now it’s been completely flattened.” Xia Mo spread her hands, showing a helpless expression.
Today, though, she had another purpose for coming.
Xia Mo still remembered Luo Shuangxing’s earlier guess very clearly.
Since Luo Shuangyue and Dark Moth might be the same person, then could White Night and Luo Shuangyue also be the same person?
Although the idea sounded hard to believe, after what happened with Dark Moth, Xia Mo wasn’t about to dismiss the possibility.
This time, she wanted to test it out.
In fact, the park where they used to train hadn’t been completely destroyed—half of it was still perfectly usable for training.
“Oh.” Luo Shuangyue was a bit surprised by this.
That Magic Beast really knew how to pick a spot.
That little park had such a nice location and view, and now the Magic Beast had blown it up. What a shame.
Looks like they’d have to find a new place for Xia Mo and the others to train…
That evening, as Xia Mo walked downstairs to her building, she noticed a white-haired, golden-eyed girl sitting quietly on a bench in the small park downstairs, as if waiting for someone.
The girl looked strikingly similar to Luo Shuangxing—at a glance, they seemed almost carved from the same mold. Xia Mo muttered to herself and walked over to the girl.
“White Night-senpai, are you looking for me?”
“There’s been a problem with our original training spot. Tomorrow’s training is temporarily canceled. We’ll continue once I find a suitable place.” Disguised as White Night, Luo Shuangyue spoke to Xia Mo with a blank expression.
A strange glint flashed in Xia Mo’s eyes.
She had just told Luo Shuangyue about this in the morning, and now, in the afternoon, White Night-senpai came to tell her about the change in training plans. What a coincidence.
What was even more important was that the place wasn’t so ruined it couldn’t be used.
White Night definitely hadn’t been to the scene herself—Xia Mo concluded in her heart.
With that in mind, she put on a slightly confused and curious look and probed White Night in front of her.
“White Night-senpai, I think you and Shuang Xing look a bit alike.”
This didn’t make Luo Shuangyue show any strange expression.
Of course White Night looked like Luo Shuangxing—they were mother and daughter, after all! It would be weird if they didn’t look alike.
Unfortunately, that relationship couldn’t be revealed to Xia Mo yet, nor could Luo Shuangxing find out that her mother was actually the famous Super Magical Girl of Quanding.
“Do we?” So Luo Shuangyue chose to play dumb.
No matter how much they resembled each other, as long as she didn’t admit it, Xia Mo couldn’t dig any deeper.
“They do!” Xia Mo nodded emphatically.
“I don’t think so.” Standing up, Luo Shuangyue continued to play the serious and aloof senior, directly cutting off the topic
from further discussion.
As long as Luo Shuangyue didn’t admit it herself, what could Xia Mo do? Was she going to put a knife to her throat and force her to confess? Without finishing her sentence, Luo Shuangyue turned and left, leaving Xia Mo with only her back.
She couldn’t have guessed that after she left, Xia Mo would sit down exactly where she’d just been, carefully distinguishing the scent left behind.
And the conclusion Xia Mo came to was something Luo Shuangyue could never have imagined.
“Although it’s a bit faint, it’s exactly the same as Shuangyue’s…” Xia Mo sat on the bench, resting her chin on her palm, eyes filled with intrigue.
“But Shuangyue definitely can’t be the original White Night-senpai. There must be some secret here.”
Shuangyue being Dark Moth was understandable enough, but Shuangyue also being White Night—that was much harder to comprehend.
Two identities from completely different eras—why would they converge on the same person?
