“This place looks like an office building. What should I do? Should I go in?”
Su Lihua stood a bit foolishly in front of the Office Building, asking the two in the channel.
“Go in! According to the usual novel or comic plots, the office building here is likely hiding some secret! Let’s go in and explore!”
Ling Xiaoyou’s clear, sweet, and slightly childish voice echoed in Su Lihua’s mind.
“‘Let’s’, but in the end, isn’t it just me going in…”
Su Lihua muttered, then walked into the Office Building.
There weren’t many people in the Office Building, probably because most Devils don’t like to use their brains much—they might have all gone to work as Pier and Shipyard laborers.
“It doesn’t feel any different from an ordinary office building. Is there really any secret in here?”
Su Lihua asked in the ‘channel’.
“Well, anyway, a stroll is a stroll, and the Office Building seems to have more clues than places like the factories or the Pier.”
Ling Xiaoyou replied.
“Maybe.”
Su Lihua also felt the Office Building was indeed better.
At least she wouldn’t have to face so many Devils, and she wouldn’t have to worry so much about her identity being discovered.
“Eh? You’re… Danny? Why are you here?”
Su Lihua was walking down the corridor when she saw a man in a suit coming out of the elevator.
The suited man paused, clearly surprised that ‘Danny’ would appear here.
Su Lihua was also taken aback—she hadn’t expected someone to come out of the elevator at just this moment.
She was about to let her two ‘external brains’ think up an excuse when the suited man noticed the Guard Badge hanging around her neck and said:
“Eh, this is Yanu’s Guard Badge? Where is he? Why are you on duty for him?”
Only then did Su Lihua remember she still had that guard’s Guard Badge, and she sighed in relief, explaining, “He had something to do today and asked me to cover his shift.”
“I see.”
The suited man nodded knowingly.
“Then today’s Cathedral cleaning duties are also left to you.”
“Huh? Cleaning?”
Su Lihua was stunned.
Could it be that their security personnel also had to double as janitors?
“Yeah, tonight there’s a Sacrifice personally presided over by the Bishop. The leftover mess after the Sacrifice was supposed to be cleaned by Yanu, but since you said you’re on shift for him today, the job goes to you.”
Damn!
No wonder when I said yes to the shift, he agreed so readily, as if he was afraid I wouldn’t take it. So it was to dump all this work on me.
Su Lihua, in her first ‘day on the job’, finally felt the treachery of the human heart… no, the Devil’s heart.
If she ever met that guy named Yanu, she would definitely delete all his game data!
Still, it’s fine since she wasn’t really here for the shift.
Worst case, she’d just run away when things got tough.
Only a fool would finish all the work!
As Su Lihua was thinking this, Ling Xiaoyou reminded her in the ‘channel’:
“How long are you going to keep standing there, Su Lihua? He’s already gone.”
“Eh? He left?”
Su Lihua blinked, finally noticing that there was no one in front of her.
Only the open elevator door remained, as if waiting for her to enter.
“Yeah, he left while you were spacing out.”
Ling Xiaoyou nodded her small head.
“So, are you going into the elevator or not? Usually, the responsible person’s office is at the top floor. We can go up and take a look.”
“Oh! Go! Of course go!”
Su Lihua snapped out of it and hurried into the elevator.
After pressing the button for the top floor and waiting for a while, the elevator doors slowly opened with a feeling of weightlessness.
There weren’t many rooms on the top floor.
After wandering around a bit, Su Lihua found the general manager’s office.
“Knock knock!”
“Is anyone there?”
Su Lihua first pressed her ear to the door to listen, then knocked to ask if anyone was inside.
After confirming there was no one inside, she entered the office with peace of mind.
The office was pitch dark, but for a Spirit, this kind of darkness was as good as nonexistent.
She glanced around the plain office, then asked in the ‘channel’:
“What should I do next?”
Ling Xiaoyou and Bai Shuanglian were positioned well on the rooftop, right in the center, so they could faintly see the inside of Su Lihua’s office through the window.
“Go check the computer first. It’s modern society. Important information is probably stored on the computer.”
Ling Xiaoyou said, pinching her smooth, small chin.
Following Ling Xiaoyou’s instructions, Su Lihua turned on the computer.
As the blue sky and white clouds appeared on the screen, she waited a while, and when Ling Xiaoyou didn’t give any further orders, she asked:
“What next?”
“Next?”
Ling Xiaoyou was stunned.
“Of course, check the files on the computer. What else would you do?”
“But I don’t understand computers.”
Su Lihua scratched her head.
“Ah… this.”
At these words, Ling Xiaoyou felt a bit stuck as well.
Her computer skills were limited to gaming—finding documents was really not her forte.
So she could only look to Bai Shuanglian for help.
The latter nodded, not letting Ling Xiaoyou down.
She guided Su Lihua to click here and there on the computer.
Soon, a pile of reports and documents that looked completely confusing appeared on the screen.
“Ugh, I can’t understand a thing.”
Su Lihua shook her head, feeling her brain itch—was she growing a new brain?
“It’s fine, you don’t need to understand. You just need to be the mouse-clicking tool. Leave the rest to Bai Shuanglian!”
Ling Xiaoyou patted Bai Shuanglian’s arm proudly, like a little wife showing off how awesome her husband was.
Bai Shuanglian smiled, then her gaze passed through hundreds of meters, landing on the computer screen behind the window.
Even from so far, her Golden Core Stage body allowed her to see everything clearly.
“These all seem to be normal reports.”
Bai Shuanglian pinched her chin, thinking.
Then, a thought flashed in her mind as if she recalled something.
“Su Lihua, pull up the Seafarers’ List and the Freighter Records.”
Su Lihua nodded in confusion.
Fortunately, she could at least open files and such.
Looking at the two lists and records that seemed unrelated, Bai Shuanglian’s furrowed brows gradually relaxed.
She nodded knowingly.
“So that’s it. I understand how they transported the missing Spirits.”
“Eh?”
Ling Xiaoyou and Su Lihua were both stunned.
