“Mother, Mother!”
The young blue-haired girl knelt by the bedside, grasping a pale hand, her face filled with a panicked expression.
Her name was Stella, from the Julius royal family in the Saint Luo Empire, the youngest ninth princess in this empire.
And the hand she grasped was her mother’s, Emperor Gustav’s concubine, Ileya.
“Cough cough… Stella…”
Ileya’s voice was quite weak. She struggled to open her eyes, wanting to see her daughter clearly, but no matter what, her gaze couldn’t focus.
In the end, she could only tightly grip her hand.
“Mother, I’ll go find others to help…!”
Stella was so anxious that tears flowed down.
She stood up, gritted her teeth, wiped the tear stains on her face, and ran out of the room.
This was Ileya’s bedroom palace, but there were basically no servants, very desolate; even the usual care for the seriously ill queen consort was done by Stella.
But how could a young her do it well?
After leaving the palace gate, she saw the patrolling palace guards.
“Please wait a moment!!”
Stella ran in front of the guards, blocking them.
“… Princess Stella, is there something?”
The guards didn’t salute Princess Stella, just using a cold attitude, opening their mouths to inquire about the reason.
The reason was simple.
Status.
Like the mothers of other princesses and princes, they all came from families of prominent backgrounds.
Only Ileya was an exception.
This was a commoner woman with no background at all; entering the palace was merely an accident.
Once when Emperor Gustav went out, he favored a beautiful woman from the common folk, which was Ileya.
Perhaps by coincidence, Ileya got pregnant, had the emperor’s child, and gave birth.
After the emperor knew about this, he brought Ileya back to the palace, without any ceremony, just announcing verbally, making Ileya become a queen consort.
But, for such a woman with no power and no influence, how could she live peacefully in the palace?
The emperor originally had little affection for Ileya, merely favoring her once because of her outstanding appearance; afterward, there weren’t many meetings.
Therefore, although Ileya had the name of queen consort, she had no substance of a queen consort, suffering cold shoulders in the palace.
“My mother is sick, I need to find the royal physician, her current condition is very bad!”
” Sick? Sorry, Ninth Princess, finding the royal physician, please go yourself. Our duty is to guard the palace, this is not within our duties.”
The soldiers expressed refusal, ignored Stella’s request, and walked straight past the girl’s side.
“Damn…”
Stella lightly bit her lip.
She was very angry, but now wasn’t the time to quibble; her mother was still waiting for her to return.
The young blue-haired girl ran in the palace, disregarding her image, and finally saw the royal physician.
“Royal physician! My mother is sick, hurry and go take a look!” Stella ran in front of the royal physician.
The royal physician lifted his glasses, looked carefully, discovered it was Stella, didn’t even stand to salute, and put his gaze back on the book.
“Really sorry, Ninth Princess, I can’t go now.”
“Why? Aren’t you the royal physician!”
“Yes, Ninth Princess, if without His Majesty the Emperor’s permission, how could I casually treat others?”
“But my mother’s current illness is very serious, it can’t be delayed!!” Stella almost roared it out.
“I must decline, Ninth Princess, I feel regret about this, please first get permission from His Majesty the Emperor,” the royal physician said regretfully. “You go get some herbs, go back and brew them for the queen consort to drink.”
“How could…”
Stella lowered her head.
Just then, the door was opened, at the doorway stood a handsome-looking boy, beside him following several attendants, helping him hold hunting rifle, hunting attire, and prey; obviously just returned from hunting.
“Third Prince? Why did you come, was it hunting earlier? No accidents, right!”
The royal physician immediately changed his tone, the previously cold face immediately piled with smiles, proactively stood up, full of enthusiasm, walked forward to salute.
“My mother seems to have caught a cold, go take a look.”
The Third Prince of the Saint Luo Empire, Kaiso Julius, lightly yawned.
“Go now, if my mother’s cold worsens, I’ll hold you accountable.”
“Yes, yes! I’ll go now!”
The royal physician smiled obsequiously, he immediately grabbed his coat, prepared to set off.
After seeing this scene, Stella was stunned for a moment, then her small hand clenched into a fist, rushed up, blocked the royal physician.
“What do you mean by this? Earlier you clearly said, without Father’s permission, you couldn’t casually practice medicine!”
“Ninth Princess, this is different…”
“What’s different about this! My mother is seriously ill, his mother is merely just a cold!”
“Stella, you don’t even look at what kind of thing you are?”
Kaiso revealed a disdainful expression.
His status in the Saint Luo Empire’s royal family compared to Stella was simply worlds apart.
The Third Prince’s mother’s brother was a valiant general guarding the border, the family had produced many famous generals, ancestors had helped the Saint Luo Empire’s royal family, achieved merits.
“A mud-leg from the countryside village, your mother is even more a lowly woman who merely relied on some looks to gain Father’s pity! Father allowing you such people to live in the palace is already excessive mercy, don’t beg like a beggar for things not belonging to you, recognize your position!”
“What did you say! This isn’t fair?”
Stella was thoroughly enraged by Kaiso’s words, emotions completely out of control.
She rushed up, planning to knock Kaiso down.
But, before she could act, the attendants beside Kaiso drew weapons, pointing the sword at her throat.
Just a light push, and it could make her blood splatter on the spot.
“Humph, if your mother didn’t teach you, then let me teach you! My mother’s health condition concerns whether the border warriors will continue to provide stable and loyal support! As for your mother, no one cares, even if she dies, so what? The royal family won’t waste any resources for her!”
Kaiso’s mouth corners raised, full of mocking color.
“Fair? In this world, there has never been anything like fair, only value; people like you have no value in the Saint Luo Empire.”
Stella fell into silence.
She felt her chest blocked, almost unable to breathe.
Kaiso’s words, she actually couldn’t refute half a bit.
“Learned your life’s first lesson?”
Kaiso laughed heartily, bringing his attendants, left triumphantly.
“Stella, this is reality!”
