Facing the scarred man charging at him, Li Xian looked as though he had already anticipated the attack.
Calmly, he raised his right hand.
While Sara looked on in confusion, the ice elements in the air suddenly gathered at a terrifying speed.
In the blink of an eye, three massive ice walls formed in front of Li Xian, one after another.
“An Overlord-tier spell—Ice Barrier?!”
The scarred man’s pupils shrank in shock.
‘Three barriers in a row? Even an Overlord-tier mage couldn’t conjure three Ice Barriers simultaneously like that. No doubt about it—this had to be a high-level spell scroll. And not just one, but three? That brat had just used three priceless Overlord-tier scrolls in one go?!’
His heart filled with frustration.
‘So this… is the power of money?’
What he didn’t know was that Li Xian was practically broke.
Where would he get such expensive magic scrolls? Even if he did have them, he would’ve sold them in an instant for cash.
Although the scarred man already felt the urge to retreat, his sword was drawn, and the blow had already been unleashed—it was too late to pull back.
His signature move, Feral Rift Slash, was no joke.
When his blade, wrapped in a shroud of dark-purple energy, struck the first ice wall, it sliced through like a hot knife through butter.
If his opponent had been a regular Overlord-tier mage, this attack would’ve ended the battle instantly.
But now, standing in his way were two more ice walls.
The violet-black energy still retained its force.
The second ice wall, though more resistant, was eventually shattered under the onslaught.
However, almost as if Li Xian had expected this outcome, the spacing between the ice walls was uneven—right after the second one, came the third, with barely a pause.
His blade pierced the final barrier, but by now, the energy enveloping it had almost fizzled out.
The violet aura dimmed, no longer powerful enough to break through.
The scarred man’s heart sank.
Panic surged inside him.
‘God knows how many more scrolls this damned rich kid has?!’
But turning back now was too late…
Just as he began to withdraw his blade and turn away, a thin red line suddenly appeared, slicing down from the top of the ice wall in front of him.
When that crimson line exploded into roaring flames, “Savage Blade” finally understood what it was.
Scarlet battle aura surged like a wild stallion, swallowing him whole in an instant.
The ice wall was split in half by the slash—and so was the scarred man’s flesh and blood.
***
Li Xian stood behind the flames, calmly sheathing his sword.
His expression was indifferent, but in his eyes, a glint of excitement flickered.
‘Now this… this is more like it. That fight with the Flame Rats was way too boring.’
Sara was completely stunned.
She stood behind Li Xian and had seen everything with her own eyes—this big brother hadn’t used any magic scrolls at all.
He had actually cast three Transcendent-level spells in an instant!
Sara knew exactly what that meant.
Her mother was a Transcendent-level mage herself.
Even her mother could never release three Transcendent-level spells at the same time.
But this young man had done it effortlessly.
And that final sword strike…
Amid the brilliant burst of flames, she thought she saw her father, wielding his flaming red sword, cutting through everything in his path.
“Here. This sword is pretty good.”
Sara dumbly took the sword from Li Xian—though she hadn’t even noticed when he had taken it from her.
She gripped the scabbard tightly.
It was her father’s sword, the only relic her parents had left behind.
Holding it now, she felt even more lost and afraid.
She never imagined that this seemingly young man would possess such overwhelming strength.
Yes, that should be a good thing.
But she couldn’t bring herself to feel happy about it.
The stronger someone was, the more untouchable they became.
And the consequences of deceiving someone like that…
“What’s wrong? Were you scared?”
Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted.
She looked up to see Li Xian staring at her with concern.
Her heart skipped a beat, and a cold sweat trickled down her back.
“N-no… It’s nothing…”
Even so, she forced a shaky smile, unwilling to let him see through her fragile mask.
During her time on the run, she had come far too close to death, more times than she could count.
And she had learned one harsh truth: once your mask of strength cracks, the darkness waiting behind it will only grow deeper.
Li Xian scratched his head.
He had the feeling that this girl was hiding something.
But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that.
From deep within the forest, another disturbance echoed out.
This time, it was a sharp, thunderous boom, accompanied by flickers of firelight in the distance.
Clearly, something—or someone—was casting powerful magic.
“Let’s go!”
Without pausing to rest, Li Xian turned and rushed toward the source of the explosion.
His sudden movement startled Sara.
“W-wait! Li Xian! Wait—Li Xian!”
