Jiele Xiyin looked alertly at the girl before her, who appeared to be less than eighteen years old. Her previous arrogant facade had only been to trick Vyea into letting her guard down.
It seemed her words from earlier had failed to disturb Vyea’s mind, and she had been unable to extract any useful information from the girl.
The only thing she could be certain of was that the other party definitely knew Flavail. Using a skill that fused Authorities to unleash greater power was something she had only seen Flavail use.
‘Is she Flavail’s eldest daughter? When was she born?’ Jiele Xiyin pondered, not daring to act rashly. She couldn’t confirm Vyea’s identity, but there was no doubt that Vyea possessed the aura and certain qualities of that Great Demon King.
In their brief exchange earlier, Vyea’s strike — vast and deep as the sea — had left a deep impression on her. If she hadn’t used that group of seventh-tier Ash Dragons as cannon fodder to disperse the force of the blow, she might have already been severely injured or defeated.
Although it was humiliating, Jiele Xiyin had to admit that despite living for several hundred years, she was no match for Vyea.
‘What a divine gift from the heavens!’ It had been the same back then. She had spent over 100 years to ascend to the position of Demon King, planning to descend upon the world and make the entire land tremble at her name.
Yet, another Demon King had suddenly appeared nearby. Under the dazzling sun, all of Jiele Xiyin’s ambitions seemed so humble and ridiculous, like dust dancing in the light, unnoticed by anyone.
“You know Flavail, right?” Jiele Xiyin said tentatively. “Flavail and I are both Demon Kings and old acquaintances. I now acknowledge that you indeed have the qualifications to ascend the throne. So, why must we fight to the death over a few humans?”
High in the sky, Jiele Xiyin continued to circle Vyea slowly. “Look, this world is boundless and immeasurably large! We can form an alliance like humans do and share this world together. I can even give you all the support I can offer.
You are still young and don’t understand many things in this world, but I do! For example, the specific Authorities of the other Demon Kings, as well as your sister who wandered away from the Demon King City.”
“This suggestion is very tempting. It’s enough to move my heart. But I don’t believe a single word coming out of your mouth,” Vyea replied with a smile. ‘You are the one who understands Naya best in this world, and you are the closest to it.’
“Your generosity is only provided to lives far inferior to your own, just like those Ash Dragons earlier. You give them expensive meat, only to slaughter them as sacrifices for yourself when their loyalty overflows, leaving them without even a corpse.”
“They were just incompetent demons with insufficient potential, but you are different. You are noble! Just like me, you have the qualifications to ascend the throne!” Jiele Xiyin slowly approached Vyea, transforming back into the form of a beautiful human woman while continuously pouring out sweet, deceptive words.
“Jiele Xiyin, you still haven’t understood my words.” Vyea didn’t care for Jiele Xiyin’s little schemes. “You are a Demon King, but in this life, you can only ever be a Demon King.”
“What is your status? How dare you think you’re worthy of being my friend! How dare you compare yourself to me!” Vyea sneered.
Facing the poisonous stinger Jiele Xiyin used for a sneak attack, she thrust the golden Sunlight Spear toward her heart.
The Sunlight Spear instantly pierced through her heart. Jiele Xiyin was filled with shock; she hadn’t expected her secret sneak attack to be detected and countered first. She could only repeatedly stab Vyea’s waist with the poisonous stinger in her hand, hoping to kill or paralyze Vyea like a moth caught in a spiderweb.
But she couldn’t do it. The feeling of the stinger was as if she were stabbing a pool of water.
*Ineffective! Ineffective! Still ineffective!*
“Jiele Xiyin, you are truly pathetic. After all these years, you are just as you were before, without any progress.”
A hint of contempt was hidden within Vyea’s amber eyes. She slowly raised her hand and grabbed Jiele Xiyin’s neck, completely indifferent to her attacks.
Jiele Xiyin coughed up blood in pain. Jagged spider spears burst from her back, tearing through her clothes as they stabbed at Vyea’s body over and over, desperate to tear the enemy before her into pieces.
The sound of the wind suddenly became sharp and loud. The waters and land below shrank rapidly in Jiele Xiyin’s eyes.
Vyea carried Jiele Xiyin vertically upward at an extreme speed, quickly reaching an altitude of tens of thousands of meters.
There were no clouds here, and no night. The sun’s rays filled her vision, and the golden layers of clouds below looked like a magnificent sheepskin rug. Under such blazing sunlight, Jiele Xiyin’s body was actually covered in a layer of white frost.
Her blood began to freeze, and her limbs became stiff. She couldn’t even speak to beg for mercy, only able to stare at the girl close at hand with confused eyes.
“Are you confused? Wondering why I know your weaknesses so clearly? Do you want to know?”
“Haha, even if you look at me like that, I still won’t tell you.”
Suddenly, Vyea let go of her hand. Jiele Xiyin, who had lost all ability to resist, fell straight down from the height of tens of thousands of meters, motionless like a stone statue.
Vyea knew she wasn’t dead. The low temperatures of the high altitude and the vacuum environment where one couldn’t breathe were not enough to kill a Demon King.
Therefore, she had sealed every part of Jiele Xiyin’s body that could mobilize magic power and left an unhealable wound on her chest, severely limiting the power within her.
“This is the price you pay for laying a hand on my mother.”
Vyea was not proficient in the fusion attacks of Authorities. She currently lacked the ability for a sheer numerical crush, and she didn’t have a holy sword or something similar that a Brave would use to deal true damage.
To inflict a fatal wound on a genuine Demon King, an attack from just one type of Authority was far from enough. Every Demon King who ascended the throne mastered at least two types of Authority — for example, Jiele Xiyin’s Deception and Enchantress.
Even if they weren’t Authorities meant for frontal combat, they still possessed a high status. To deal a fatal blow, Vyea would need to fuse an attack composed of at least three types of Authorities.
Jiele Xiyin fell helplessly from the sky.
She didn’t understand what Vyea’s motive was for doing this, nor did she understand why Vyea, who was clearly not human, would choose to help humans.
‘How truly naive… an attack like this won’t kill me.’
But soon, she felt something descending.
Although she couldn’t hear any sound, she could feel the temperature around her rising sharply.
The frost on her eyelashes melted. Jiele Xiyin opened her eyes, only to see crimson meteors streaking across the sky, descending toward her.
Within this god-like Meteor Shower, Jiele Xiyin closed her eyes in despair.
***
3:00 AM.
Everyone in Antler Castle saw a Meteor Shower. The scale of this Meteor Shower exceeded the historical records of the entire Southern Territory for the past several decades. Those completely blazing meteors fell into the sea, even kicking up sea waves hundreds of meters high.
Someone stood at the pier, gazing at the burning sea in the distance.
