“Good morning, Moth~”
The saccharine voice from behind made Luo Shuangyue’s heart skip a beat.
Her instincts screamed that something was off.
Was this really how Xia Mo usually called her?
Moth? Wasn’t that just a fake name? How could Xia Mo call it so naturally now?
And the emotion behind those words—Luo Shuangyue felt goosebumps crawling up her arms.
“You… are you okay? Did your breakthrough fry your brain?” Luo Shuangyue took half a step back, folding her arms, as if facing a lunatic.
But Xia Mo wasn’t put off by Luo Shuangyue’s defensive stance.
Instead, she closed in even more, boldly latching onto Luo Shuangyue’s arm.
“Are you really out of your mind?!”
“Today, you’re the one who needs my help, so you’re not allowed to refuse any of my requests.” Xia Mo’s lips curled into a sly, triumphant smile.
“Come on, I’m going to buy you some new clothes.”
“New clothes?”
Luo Shuangyue was stunned.
Seriously, sis? You came all the way here, alone, wielding a King-class Magic Beast’s Sealing Card to threaten your enemy, and your grand plan is… to go shopping for clothes with her?
She’d already braced herself for Xia Mo to kick her while she was down, but this?
“How can a girl have only one set of clothes? Let’s go—I’m definitely picking out a few nice outfits for you today.”
Xia Mo pushed Luo Shuangyue toward the bustling commercial street.
As a Magical Girl, she was practically a little rich lady; buying a few outfits was nothing to her—she wouldn’t even blink.
Luo Shuangyue wanted to resist, but she needed Xia Mo’s help right now.
Plus, after her breakthrough, Xia Mo’s physical strength was no longer weaker than Luo Shuangyue’s injured self.
With both factors, Luo Shuangyue was forcibly shoved right to the entrance of a women’s clothing store.
“Shop assistant! Bring her a few outfits that suit her!”
Dragging Luo Shuangyue into the store, Xia Mo called out loudly.
Seeing the two girls bustling in and hearing Xia Mo’s spirited voice, the shop assistant, who had been idling about, instantly perked up and rushed over.
“This young lady needs some clothes, right? My, you’re so pretty! Why are you dressed so plainly?”
“Don’t worry, miss! I’ll make sure you walk out of here with a whole new look!”
Before Luo Shuangyue could protest, the enthusiastic assistant had already herded her into the fitting room, and began piling outfit after outfit—some she’d seen, most she hadn’t—onto her.
Halfway through, Xia Mo also came in, arms laden with several sets of clothes she’d chosen herself.
By the end of it, Luo Shuangyue was utterly exhausted.
While Xia Mo paid at the counter, she slumped onto the sofa, mouth half open, looking as if wisps of her soul were still drifting out.
Girls in shopping mode… terrifying.
Her clothes were no longer the ones she’d worn in, but a casual outfit Xia Mo had picked out especially for her.
As for shoes, her old ones were replaced with a pair of hollowed mid-heeled sandals—right on the fine line between what Luo Shuangyue could barely tolerate and what she absolutely couldn’t.
Any higher, and she’d have given Xia Mo a demonstration of how to twist an ankle in flats.
And since she was wearing sandals, her socks had naturally been peeled off by Xia Mo as well… Ugh, just remembering it made Luo Shuangyue cringe.
It really felt like ever since that breakthrough, Xia Mo’s personality had changed—especially when facing Dark Moth, her attitude was much more forceful than before.
Didn’t she fear Dark Moth would go all out and attack her friends and family?
“See? With a new outfit, you look so much more alive.”
Xia Mo returned, arms full of shopping bags, her face practically glowing with satisfaction.
If Dark Moth had once been a gloomy girl, now—dressed in fresh clothes—she radiated purity.
She was no longer a lonely Dark Moth, but a Moth of Life fluttering in a sea of spring flowers.
She really is beautiful, Xia Mo thought to herself, quietly.
Just knowing the girl before her was her beloved childhood friend made Xia Mo feel as if she were dreaming.
Maybe… liking a girl isn’t so hard to accept after all.
After all, what Xia Mo liked was Luo Shuangyue as a person.
Whether Luo Shuangyue was male or female didn’t matter.
If she were into men, how could she possibly fall for someone who had never shown an ounce of manliness, like Luo Shuangyue?
“Ridiculous,” Luo Shuangyue muttered, her face cold.
She still couldn’t figure out why Xia Mo insisted on buying her clothes.
Were they really that close?
Close enough for her to just strip off her clothes and socks?
“What? I just don’t want to see you showing up in front of me looking the same every time. Is that so wrong?” Xia Mo chuckled.
“Do you remember we’re supposed to be enemies?”
“If you didn’t remind me, I’d have forgotten. If all my enemies were like you, Dark Moth, this world would be a much better, more peaceful place.”
Xia Mo hefted the shopping bags and smiled at Luo Shuangyue. “Come on, let’s grab a coffee at that café. We can talk business there.”
Hearing Xia Mo dangle the Sealing Card bait, Luo Shuangyue had no choice but to take it—she couldn’t just quit halfway.
The two of them entered the café together, found an empty table, and ordered two coffees.
Then, Xia Mo took the initiative to bring up the topic of the Sealing Card.
“You mentioned before that White Night left behind a mess. Were you talking about these Sealing Cards?”
“That’s right. Back when White Night was active, the Magic Department wasn’t as strong as it is now, and their methods for handling Magic Pollution weren’t as developed. So after slaying Demons, White Night would use her own power to seal the Demonic Energy at the scene, turning it into the Sealing Cards you’ve seen.”
Luo Shuangyue nodded, sharing some intel about the Sealing Cards with Xia Mo.
“But White Night wasn’t a god. The seals she left behind weaken over time. Now, it’s just about time for some of those seals to expire.”
“The Demonic Energy sealed in those cards is an invaluable weapon for anyone with ulterior motives. You might not know just how sought-after Sealing Cards are on the Black Market.”
“That card you have—if you wanted to sell it for cash, you could easily become a well-known millionaire overnight.”
“That valuable?”
Xia Mo was baffled.
Why had she never heard about something so important before?
