What exactly is a “Good Morning Kiss”?
When the young girl asked, the two Shadows offered very different explanations.
The Broken Shadow said, “‘Good’ is the ‘morning’ ‘good,’ ‘morning’ meaning early morning, ‘peaceful’ is the ‘good’ part, and ‘kiss’ is just a kiss. It means to lightly kiss her in the morning to let her feel peaceful and secure for the whole day.”
The Sexually Repressed Shadow said, “Good morning, good afternoon, good evening — they’re all greetings before sleep. Saying the greeting means you’re about to fall asleep. So the idea is, after kissing Chuyao once, you’re going to ‘take her down’ until she’s unconscious.”
Even Shen Ning thought that was way too extreme.
“If you’re not going to ‘take her down,’ then just kiss her enough to the point where she’s out of breath, her eyes go hazy, and her brain and cerebellum lose coordination!”
Still very extreme, but at least better than the last one.
No matter what, from the two Shadows’ analyses, Shen Ning got one clear rule: she had to do it while Chuyao was awake, not sneak in a quick peck while she was asleep.
After all, only someone awake can truly say “good morning.”
The young girl carefully got out of bed and walked over to her girlfriend’s side, seeing her usual peaceful little face, breathing evenly in deep sleep.
Chuyao’s quality of sleep was really good; whether in a haze or not, this was how she slept.
“Right, right,” the Sexually Repressed Shadow said, “it’s all the same anyway. Might as well just stay knocked out all the time.”
Shen Ning ignored it and focused on watching Xu Chuyao, waiting for her to wake up.
She had never waited like this before. The feeling of a first time was always novel. Her girlfriend’s cute little face and flawless skin were close enough to touch. The steady breaths were like a gentle breeze occasionally brushing against her face, a little ticklish, tickling all the way to her heart.
“If you don’t act, that tickle goes straight up! Otherwise, you’ll regret it later.”
Shen Ning was indeed ready not because of the Sexually Repressed Shadow’s suggestion, but because Xu Chuyao looked like she was about to wake up.
Her beautiful eyelashes fluttered, her eyes like a baby animal breaking out of its shell, struggling to open. Her innocent little gaze appeared as her cherry lips parted slightly.
“So damn cute, can’t hold back, kiss till you die!”
The young girl wasn’t as extreme as the Shadows, but she really couldn’t resist, slowly leaning in to give her girlfriend a good morning kiss.
It seemed Xu Chuyao noticed her movement too, half-opening her sleepy eyes, and her small mouth lightly welcomed her.
muceeee (sound of a kiss!)
Just as the kiss was about to land, the girl shifted, turning her body to the other side and quickly resumed snoring loudly.
Shen Ning sat on the bed edge, stunned for a long moment.
“Chuyao’s still not awake,” said the Broken Shadow. “You’re too impatient.”
Compared to the Sexually Repressed Shadow, who was always pushing the girl to ‘take her down,’ the Broken Shadow remained calm and rational.
Shen Ning agreed. Seeing Xu Chuyao still sound asleep, she quietly returned to her own bed and sat down.
Just wait a bit longer.
Several minutes later, Xu Chuyao turned over again, facing upward, stretching a big, hearty yawn.
“Shang~ ha.”
Shen Ning was certain her girlfriend really hadn’t been awake earlier, because now she knew.
When Xu Chuyao normally wakes up, she stretches energetically, yawns big, then—
“Good morning, Xiaolu. I just dreamed that Shen Ning tried to sneak a kiss on me. I pretended to kiss her back, but actually dodged at the last second. Haha, you have no idea how hilarious her expression was.”
Xu Chuyao was genuinely happy, just awake and already eager to tell her roommate about her dream misdeed. But when she looked up, she found a strange ceiling above her.
Hmm, this wasn’t Shengling Academy, not Center City, and her roommate wasn’t Mi Xiaolu. Also, in her mind, a voice reminded her: [Counter Villain Value +100] for such behavior.
“Uh, Shen Ning, I was just joking. Don’t… ugh ugh!”
The young girl pounced, planting a fierce kiss on her.
“That’s right! No hesitation! Exactly like that!” the Sexually Repressed Shadow shouted excitedly, “Kiss her till her brain goes blank and her cerebellum loses coordination!”
“Sigh, Chuyao should talk less,” the Broken Shadow sighed, then tried to advise gently, “Take it easy. If you keep kissing her, she’ll have trouble breathing. She’s still young. It’s just teasing—give her a little lesson and that’s enough…”
A few minutes later, Shen Ning finally let go, feeling refreshed and clear-headed.
A sweet kiss, mission accomplished, lips kissed, and also adding the proper morning sugar intake.
[Quest completed: Random Daily Task. Reward: Small increase in Spirit Power limit.]
Equivalent to about three Spirit Power condensations—not bad.
“Meow meow ow.”
Xu Chuyao snuggled back under the covers, letting out a few little sounds, touched her lips, and realized the swelling had gone down.
Spirit Power Users had such good physiques and recovery, there was no way to even fake being pitiful.
Mostly, Chuyao herself understood this was just like crashing a car headfirst into Saratoga’s steel plate. Getting a kiss was purely deserved; not getting a beating was already a blessing.
Sigh, these past few years, she’d developed a habit wherever she went, she had to tease the female lead. When it worked, she’d brag to her roommate. Missing even a step meant missing some joy.
Shen Ning returned from the window edge, sat down by the bed, and looked at Xu Chuyao.
“Next time, will you dodge?”
“No dodging, no dodging.”
“Next time, will you laugh?”
“No laughing, no laughing.”
Chuyao knew she was just saying it casually. Shen Ning knew she was just pretending to listen. Next time, she would definitely laugh.
But looking at her obedient girlfriend right now, her heart was very happy.
“Aren’t we supposed to go on a date today?” the young girl stood up and said, “Let’s go.”
“Date? Oh, right, right, a date.”
Xu Chuyao thought quietly: I was just sending you out today to spy, didn’t say it was a date.
But having just received a little lesson, Chuyao didn’t dare tell the truth.
Fine, a date it is. After all, we’re just walking around outside anyway.
Ya Ha City was a bustling metropolis. Compared to Center City, it was more tolerant to low-ranking merchants.
If your EQ was low, it had the wild vibe of a street market.
A battle had also taken place here. Despite a crushing victory on our side in Center City, the city’s prosperity was heavily impacted. Commerce Plaza was nearly deserted for days after the war.
But Ya Ha City, though our side suffered a total defeat, the business district near the Tower was still lively.
Xu Chuyao took out her phone, snapping photos along the way, capturing scenes everywhere.
“Shen Ning, come a bit this way.”
“Okay, got it.”
The young girl looked at the camera direction and took a few steps left, casually throwing a peace sign.
“No need to say ‘cheese,’ right?”
Xu Chuyao wanted to say, not just ‘cheese’—scissors aren’t needed either, and the direction is all wrong.
She was originally shooting power lines to study carefully later. She only asked Shen Ning to move because she was blocking the edge of the frame, but the girl misunderstood and stepped right into the center of the frame, posing.
What could Chuyao say? Just shoot.
Click, click.
Shen Ning didn’t notice anything wrong at all. Her mood was great~ Walking and snapping photos with her girlfriend on this bustling street what a wonderful day.
Refreshing! This is what a date should be like.
Walking into a small alley off the commercial street, Xu Chuyao took the chance to ask the shopkeeper at a kiosk:
“Uncle, I heard there was a fight on the Tower recently and many people died?”
“Oh, absolutely, very scary. If my shop were any closer, we’d be gone for sure that day.” The kiosk owner said with a wistful look, “Even if we weren’t accidentally hit, the authorities would’ve forced us to close after, cutting off an entire street.”
He glanced over the merchandise: “Thirty-seven fifty.”
Two bottles of fruit-flavored yogurt drinks and a pack of cigarettes.
Xu Chuyao paid with her phone, curious and asked, “If it’s so dangerous, why are the merchants still operating here? Don’t they hide away for a while?”
The shopkeeper laughed, “Little beauty, you don’t know. There’s a saying: ‘The bigger the fish, the bigger the…’ uh, ‘The bigger the storm, the bigger the fish.’”
“That’s right, that’s it. Danger is danger, but business gets better.” He pointed to the other end of the alley. “My place is just average, but there’s a funeral goods store over there. In the past half month, business is almost as good as the entire previous year. You can imagine how good that is.”
Funeral goods? Xu Chuyao immediately thought of the few people she’d seen yesterday burning spirit money along the road near the Tower.
“Thanks, uncle.”
Leaving the kiosk, Xu Chuyao walked straight to the funeral goods store at the alley’s end. Inside, the owner and apprentice were busy, business indeed bustling.
“Hey kid, here come the customers, entertain them a bit.”
The owner didn’t look up, only glanced with a sidelong eye, and called over the apprentice.
“No worries, you guys keep busy.” Xu Chuyao quickly said, handing over the cigarettes. “I just wanted to ask—business has been so good lately, who’s buying? Parents of Shengling Academy students? I heard over twenty died on the Tower.”
The funeral shop owner looked at her, then at the cigarettes, took them, and chuckled, “Of course not. The people buying here recently are all for those poor souls.”
He paused his work and pouted toward the Tower. “That place, Ya Ha Tower, used to have over a hundred employees, plus visitors and tour groups. At least a thousand people inside that day.”
“Just ordinary people. Yeah, without prior planning and evacuation, it makes sense there were so many.”
Xu Chuyao felt like she’d discovered something but found it quite reasonable.
“Kid, what are you doing, going to the bathroom again? Told you to work instead of always browsing online.”
“Okay, master, the doctor told me to drink more water every day, so I have to go more often.”
“My skin still itches.”
“Of course.”
The funeral shop owner and his slacking apprentice went off chatting, and Xu Chuyao stepped outside, looking toward the Ya Ha Tower.
That day, twenty elite Shengling Academy soldiers had launched a surprise attack against a dozen Clown Gang members on the Tower to avoid alerting them. The fight was earth-shattering, chaos everywhere, and hundreds to thousands of ordinary people fled in panic. Eventually, both sides suffered heavy losses—students and Clown Gang were wiped out, and many innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire perished.
That should be how it happened… right?
“Xu Chuyao~”
A voice came from beside her. Xu Chuyao turned to see Shen Ning stepping out of the shadows, eagerly finding her.
“Xu Chuyao, do you like jewelry? Rings, necklaces, bracelets, that kind of thing?”
She pointed to the shadowy underground passage behind her, a small excitement flickering on her pretty face: “I’ll get you some nice ones.”
That was the passage to the underground gem market.
