Lu Weizhu ran all the way back to the hospital, returning to Lu Weiyu’s side.
She picked up her diary and a pen, cleared a small area on the bedside table, and decided to start writing a diary.
To record her daily experiences, to record how she continued her descent.
It had been a while since she last used a pen, so her hand felt a bit stiff at first.
Holding the pen, Lu Weizhu took a moment to get used to the feeling.
She wrote her name on the diary’s title page, then closed her eyes and meditated. Where should she start?
A year ago felt a bit too far; many things were already fuzzy in her memory.
After a moment of silence, Lu Weizhu had an idea. She decided to start from the day she met Ning Wan.
The tip of her pen drank in ink, leaving words one by one on the clean white paper.
At first, her handwriting was crooked, but after a while, Lu Weizhu gradually found her old rhythm. Her script became neat and graceful.
The pen glided across the diary, making a faint rustling sound.
“Big Sis, what are you doing?”
Lu Weiyu noticed Lu Weizhu’s movements.
“Writing a diary. Recording what I do every day, and the troubles in my head.”
“Oh.”
Nodding, Lu Weiyu went back to watching videos. She lowered the volume so as not to disturb Lu Weizhu’s writing.
So, the loudest sound in the hospital room was actually the rustling of the pen tip.
From the day Ning Wan returned to the country up to todayโit wasn’t long, nor was it shortโLu Weizhu recorded everything she had experienced in meticulous detail.
She locked the diary with a small lock and put it in the bedside cabinet.
“Weiyu, don’t look at your phone so much. It’s bad for your eyes.”
Guessing that writing her diary had taken a few hours, Lu Weizhu glanced at the girl holding her phone.
“Okay.”
Almost without hesitation, the moment Lu Weizhu spoke, Lu Weiyu put away her phone immediately.
Lu Weizhu dialed the contact number for a nearby restaurant and started ordering food.
She casually chose a few light dishes and two servings of plain porridge, then set her phone down.
“Yawn~”
Lu Weizhu stretched lazily. Last night’s nightmare had been terrible, and her spirits weren’t great.
Her shirt moved along with her body, revealing a sliver of snowy-white waist and stomach. Lu Weiyu’s eyes flashed, and suddenly, she pounced on Lu Weizhu.
She grabbed Lu Weizhu’s waist, her fingertips gently tickling.
“Mm!? Haโฆ hahahaโฆ haha, stopโฆ mm? Hahaโฆ”
Falling onto the bed, Lu Weizhu rolled back and forth, trying to dodge, but Lu Weiyu stuck to her, never letting her escape.
She’d never imagined what it would be like to have her sensitive waist tickled; Lu Weizhu couldn’t help but laugh uncontrollably, trying to beg Lu Weiyu to stop, but her words always got blocked by her laughter. Lu Weizhu tried to catch Lu Weiyu’s mischievous hands, but failed every time, gradually starting to feel out of breath.
“Cough cough coughโฆ cough, I surrender, I give up!”
Lu Weizhu raised both hands high. As soon as she said it, Lu Weiyu stopped.
“Ha.”
Lu Weiyu propped herself up on the bed, and after a while finally sat up, straightening her messy clothes.
She glanced at her right hand. Luckily, the splint hadn’t shifted. She let out a breath of relief.
“You little rascalโฆ”
Lu Weizhu gave Lu Weiyu a slightly aggrieved look as she calmed herself down.
“Well, I just saw Big Sis always frowning, so I wanted to make you laugh.”
Lu Weiyu blinked innocently.
“Besides, didn’t we always play like this before?”
“That wasโฆ never mind.”
Sighing, Lu Weizhu decided not to pursue it any further.
Back in middle school, she did always roughhouse with Lu Weiyu, but their parents had still been alive back then.
Things were different now. Lu Weizhu wanted to say that, but in the end, she didn’t voice it.
As long as Lu Weiyu was happy.
Thinking so, Lu Weizhu tidied her hair.
“Reallyโฆ Next time, warn me if you want to play. If the splint gets moved, I’ll get scolded again,” Lu Weizhu muttered softly.
Remembering how they used to get along years ago, back then she could still hug Lu Weiyu and let her sit on her lap.
But not anymore. Lu Weiyu had grown up.
As Lu Weizhu reminisced, someone knocked symbolically on the open door, then walked straight into the hospital room.
It was Lin Li, carrying two bags.
“Lin Li? Why are you delivering food?”
Lu Weizhu vaguely remembered that the restaurants offering delivery to the hospital had their own couriers.
“Me? I got a part-time job as a courier. The pay’s a bit better than regular takeout.”
Shrugging, Lin Li handed Lu Weizhu her food order.
“Oh, I see. Sorry to trouble you.”
Lu Weizhu nodded and thanked her out of courtesy.
“It’s my job, no need to thank me.”
She was still holding another bagโmaybe it was for someone in another ward.
“You two have a great relationship.”
Lin Li had actually arrived at the door several minutes earlier and had watched Lu Weizhu and her sister roughhousing for a bit.
“Ahโฆ it’s alright.” “Our relationship is excellent.”
Two totally different answers came out at the same time. Lu Weizhu and Lu Weiyu looked at each other.
They both smiled, and Lu Weizhu scratched her head, a little embarrassed.
“โฆ.Mmโฆ that’s nice.”
Lin Li’s voice was a little soft. In her small eyes, Lu Weizhu saw a hint of loneliness.
Lin Li, aside from her gravely ill mother, also had an older sister.
Unlike the Lu sisters, Lin Li’s family had the older sister studying, while the younger one worked.
As for the reasonโฆ this was decided before her mother lost consciousness.
As Lin Li’s mother used to say, Lin Li was born dullโstudying was useless, she should earn money early and save up to marry a wife. Her older sister was smarter and suited for studying, so all resources should go to her so she could bring honor to the family.
Before Lin Li’s mother had her accident, she supported her older daughter. After the accident, the burden fell on Lin Li.
That said, Lin Li’s older sister really was a good student. Even after taking a break due to illness, she could easily get into a big city school after returning to campus.
Lin Li’s mother had originally been cared for by the older sister in the countryside, but after her sister got into a university in the city, Lin Li had no choice but to transfer their mother to this hospital.
“Sigh.”
Lin Li sighed and slowly walked toward another hospital bed not far away.
Her older sister always looked down on her, thinking she was a country bumpkin. Lin Li had never played or roughhoused with her sister. Lu Weizhu watched Lin Li’s lonely figure, not quite sure what Lin Li’s family was really like.
But from the looks of it, she probably really lacked family affection?
“Big Sis? What are you thinking about?”
Next to Lu Weizhu, Lu Weiyu poked the back of her hand.
“Hm? Ah, it’s nothing.”
Lu Weizhu shook her head and opened the food bag.
“Let’s eat.”
She handed a box of plain porridge to Lu Weiyu and placed the three side dishes neatly on the bedside cabinet.
“Mm.”
Nodding, Lu Weiyu picked out a few pieces of meat and put them in Lu Weizhu’s bowl first.
