In the mirror, Elise had light gray hair, elegantly pinned into a bun, topped with a delicate black lace cap.
The strands at her forehead were a bit long, falling just enough to cover her right eye, and her garnet-colored gaze carried a silent, imposing aura over her expressionless face.
“Sigh…”
She let out a slightly tired breath, pressing on her collar as she loosened it and then tightened it again, the recent ‘scene’ lingering persistently in her mind.
That’s right—the morning’s events were all crystal clear to Elise.
Roman had been careless.
Usually, he would either be with Luo Xiya or with Lady Catherine.
Out of respect and rank, Elise naturally could not probe into the former, and she lacked the capability to do so with the latter.
This had left Roman feeling unusually secure, causing his vigilance to naturally drop.
Elise’s Sacred Seal allowed her to observe every shadow in the manor, naturally including the room where Roman and Annie spent their time.
Lord Roman, you’ve truly given me quite the trouble…
Elise thought silently.
However, since she had just made her decision, she certainly wouldn’t betray him.
Still, she felt she deserved to claim some interest in return.
Walking to the window, she drew back the curtains and looked out.
Through the glass, she could clearly see every detail in the garden below.
At that moment, Roman lay obediently in Lady Catherine’s arms, motionless.
Elise stood at the window ledge, quietly watching the two with a calm face as still as a lake, until she saw Lady Catherine press a kiss to Roman’s foot…
Raising an eyebrow, Elise’s calm and elegant demeanor finally showed an uncontrollable ripple of surprise.
Her lips parted slightly in shock, but she quickly drew the curtain shut, unwilling to watch any longer.
In that instant of emotional fluctuation, Lady Catherine’s awareness locked onto her, but fortunately, the Noble Lady’s attitude was clearly one of curiosity.
After recognizing her, she took no further action.
Shaking her head, Elise left the room, unwilling to dwell on it further and threw herself back into the daily routine of the manor.
In the back garden, Lady Catherine suddenly turned her head under Roman’s curious gaze, as if she had noticed something.
“Mom, what is it?”
Roman asked, puzzled.
Lady Catherine smiled and turned back, “It’s nothing. I just startled myself earlier.”
Roman studied Lady Catherine’s alluring, sharply defined features and suddenly remembered something.
“Mom?”
Roman murmured softly.
His voice was gentle and tender, like a breeze brushing past Lady Catherine’s ear, making her feel a slight tickle.
She quickly responded, “I’m here.”
Privately, Roman had almost grown accustomed to calling her ‘Mom.’ In a way, this was their little shared intimacy.
That form of address brought them both a quiet joy, filling the void in their hearts while occasionally stirring a subtle, indescribable excitement.
For instance, now that Roman had called Lady Catherine ‘Mom,’ she couldn’t resist embracing the petite Roman in a princess carry.
Nuzzling affectionately, Lady Catherine’s vivid red lips drew close to Roman’s ear and softly whispered, “Sweetheart, do you have a little secret to tell me?”
The scent of orchids brushed against his face.
After closing his eyes and savoring it for a moment, Roman turned his head slightly and whispered, “Last time, you told me that the curse of the Demonic Flower is unsolvable?”
Lady Catherine was stunned for a moment.
Her once vibrant face visibly dimmed, but she forced a smile and nodded, “Yes, but thanks to you, my dear, otherwise I would have already gone to see Goddess Fara.”
“Is there really no solution?”
Roman held Lady Catherine’s delicate hand tightly, hoping to convey some comfort.
“My dear child, your care alone is enough for me,” Lady Catherine said, resting her chin against Roman’s forehead as she explained.
“My situation is completely different from Annie’s.”
“She was harmed by the pollen of the Demonic Flower. The toxin gradually destroyed her will and body. It’s frightening, yes, but with your Sacred Seal, there’s still room to save her.”
“But I am cursed by a Domain-level Demonic Flower at the cost of my own Life. According to magical principles, this is an unrelenting poison curse—even the Holy Throne would be powerless.”
“The only way is to delay it as much as possible. Until you help cleanse the toxins and heal my organs, I have been relying on Stellar Magic to desperately suppress the toxin and that deeply hidden ‘root.’”
“Though I appear fine on the surface now, my body hides a ticking time bomb—one that cannot be dismantled and could erupt anytime, leaving me powerless to resist.”
“Is that so?”
Roman, somewhat defiant, held Lady Catherine’s hand and gently infused soft magic into her.
“Uh…”
Lady Catherine tightened her embrace around his arm as if trying to pull Roman inside her body, so intimate.
So warm…
Lady Catherine raised her eyebrows in delight as the warm flow nourished every organ, giving her a fleeting illusion of youthful revival.
“Please don’t move…”
Roman gasped, unable to breathe properly from the tight embrace, reaching out to push Lady Catherine slightly.
“Oh, alright.”
She blushed and eased her grip a little.
When Roman pushed her earlier, his hand had landed directly on her chest, and her soft, ample snow-white curves had rebounded like a balloon…
Though she hadn’t seen it herself, she was certain now that her modest bud had gradually stiffened.
After a while, Roman stopped channeling magic into Lady Catherine’s body, which finally relaxed the flushed expression on her face.
“I can’t find it…” Roman said in confusion.
He could not find the ‘root’ of the curse within Lady Catherine’s body.
“Foolish child…” Lady Catherine sighed, but it was not a sigh of despair—rather one of relaxation after joy.
“If a curse were so simple to discover and break, it wouldn’t be feared by so many.”
“The principle of a curse usually involves using something from the victim—hair or similar—as a medium. The curse caster is the originator, and the most common way to break it is to kill the caster.”
“My case is different. The caster completed the forbidden curse with their own Life. It’s inherently unsolvable.”
“Unsolvable…”
Roman didn’t agree.
The highest-tier Mark of Life in the Law of Fara, and yet even the curse of a Domain-level monster was powerless against it?
It wasn’t confidence in himself, but Roman believed Goddess Fara was not someone so incompetent.
