That word “little sister” was uttered with lingering tenderness and danger.
Seraphina was stunned by it.
Her heart inexplicably tightened.
She realized she seemed unable to answer the question.
It was she who had said she didn’t want to be restricted, didn’t want help with everything.
Now resisting was wrong, and accepting was also wrong.
Movira seemed to have cast a vast net—from whichever direction she went, there was no escape.
“You… stay away from me!”
In the end, that was the only feeble protest she could muster.
Her body quickly shrank back, trying to escape Movira’s breath.
Movira did not press her.
She compromised, her tone returning to lightness, as if nothing had just happened.
“Alright, if you don’t want to call me that, you don’t have to. But you do need to rest these next few days. Stay here—no need to go to the study or court.”
Seraphina instantly grew wary. “Are you putting me under house arrest?”
“It’s care.” Movira corrected. “Besides, you can go out anytime. I won’t stop you.”
“Once you’ve recovered, I’ll teach you something interesting.”
“Something interesting?”
Seraphina felt that anything coming from Movira’s mouth couldn’t possibly be good.
“Hmm? Didn’t I tell you before? I thought I did.”
After two or three days, Seraphina’s body finally returned to its usual state.
The irritating weakness and persistent dull pain were finally gone.
This afternoon, Movira did not vanish suddenly as she often did.
Instead, she unusually remained in the bedroom, leisurely flipping through a thick tome.
“Feeling better?”
Movira closed the book, her voice breaking the silence.
“Mmm… pretty much.”
Seraphina stood from her seat, walked to the window, and flexed her wrist.
“Remember what I promised? To teach you something interesting. Now is the perfect time.”
Movira chuckled lightly, stepping in front of her.
Her fingertip brushed aside a stray lock of hair from Seraphina’s forehead, tucking it behind her ear.
“Want to learn some magic? Not the kind that destroys heaven and earth—just enough for a bit of self-protection, to handle small troubles. Roughly… intermediate level?”
Truth be told, Movira currently had no clear idea what “intermediate level” even meant.
Magic?
Seraphina had once considered this path to resist Movira.
But when she secretly tried to learn, she found it far too difficult—and she had no talent whatsoever.
“Really?”
She couldn’t help confirming, her voice carrying an expectation she herself hadn’t noticed.
“Of course.” Movira’s tone was relaxed, as if it were a trivial matter. “Choose, my dear Sera… little sister. Do you want to learn magic in the human style, or the demon style?”
Seraphina barely hesitated, nor did she have time to react to why Movira would know human-style magic.
Though times had changed, the longing deep in her soul for a human identity still lingered.
“Human style.”
She answered clearly.
Movira showed little reaction, as if she had long anticipated this answer.
“Mmm, good. When it comes to human magic, my understanding is deeper than that of some human mages!”
Only now did Seraphina notice something unusual about Movira.
She looked up. “Why? Why do you know human magic… and know it so well? Aren’t you the Demon King?”
“Oh… simple. I dealt with that Saintess from the Church a lot, so naturally I picked some up. Know your enemy, right?”
Her words were a bit vague, leaving only the title “Saintess.”
Saintess? Dealt with?
Seraphina couldn’t help but think—while the common folk of humans and demons fought and killed, the higher-ups were busy with love and affection.
Uh… that would be quite the contrast.
But if she voiced that thought, she’d definitely get beaten to death!
And she could tell Movira didn’t want to delve deeper into the topic.
“Come on. Since you’ve chosen, I’ll start with the most basic knowledge. Though it’s the human system, the essence of magic is the same—only the guiding methods differ.”
She extended her hand toward Seraphina.
A faint, yet incredibly pure white glow swirled around her fingertip.
This was magic the Demon King could cast?!
If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, Seraphina would never have believed it before.
Yet this aura was unmistakably characteristic of human light magic.
Seraphina’s gaze was drawn to it.
It radiated a warm, peaceful feeling.
“The foundation of magic lies in perceiving and guiding the magic power within your body, as well as resonating with external elements.” Movira’s voice slowed.
Unlike her usual teasing, she now carried the genuine patience of a teacher.
“Close your eyes and try to feel the energy flowing inside you.”
Seraphina did as told and closed her eyes.
At first, there was only chaos—nothing at all, except her slightly rapid heartbeat…
Was it because Movira was too close?
“Did you feel it?”
Movira’s voice was very near.
Seraphina could sense her standing right in front, almost touching!
But Seraphina seemed to have caught a faint flowing sensation within her body.
She didn’t want to interrupt this wondrous process, so for now she couldn’t push Movira away.
“A… a little.”
Seraphina’s brows gradually furrowed as she maintained this delicate perception.
“Not bad at all. You do have talent.” Movira’s praise warmed her heart. “Now, try using your will to gently guide it toward your fingertips.”
Seraphina tried several times.
But each time, just as she was about to grasp it, it slipped away instantly—like a nimble fish swimming in water.
Her fingertips showed no change.
Instead, from over-concentrating, she felt a bit dizzy.
“Ugh… it’s not working…”
She opened her eyes in slight dejection. “It won’t listen to me.”
“No problem. Just being able to sense it already puts you ahead of most beginners.” Movira showed no surprise, instead smiling lightly.
“It seems you need a bit of external ‘assistance’.”
With that, she naturally reached out and gently grasped Seraphina’s wrist.
Seraphina’s body trembled slightly.
But Movira made no further excessive moves.
She simply opened Seraphina’s palm and lightly placed her own fingertip in the center.
“Focus. Follow my guidance.” Movira’s voice was magnetic, carrying a certain enchantment as it seeped into Seraphina’s body.
“Feel the path of my magic.”
A gentle yet powerful warm current slowly flowed from Movira’s fingertip, gently traveling upward along the meridians of her arm.
