When Jiang Lai heard Xu Ruobing’s question, he originally wanted to say something, but when he opened his mouth, not a single word came out.
Seeing Jiang Lai so awkward, Xu Ruobing sighed and immediately gave up on her inquiry, lazily sitting down on the sofa beside him.
Since Jiang Lai had brought her here to drink and unwind, she saw no need to say more.
Xu Ruobing deeply understood that her current mission was to keep Jiang Lai company and help him relax. “You can just have some drinks later, or I can order you something with a low alcohol content.”
Jiang Lai tilted his head, his cheeks flushed with a tempting red.
Why had Xu Ruobing given up so quickly on asking about these things? “Aren’t you curious at all?”
Xu Ruobing sat up, resting her arms on her knees and propping her face with her hand, her voice gentle. “When you want to tell me, you’ll tell me. So I’m not in a hurry.”
But Xu Ruobing’s words were all just polite cover.
How could she not be anxious? After two days without contacting Jiang Lai, she was like an ant on a hot pan—never this worried before.
She thought to herself that if she didn’t get any news today, she would go to that apartment and knock on each door, to figure out exactly where Jiang Lai lived.
Xu Ruobing was very aware that if she showed her worry too obviously, it would easily pressure Jiang Lai, and some things were not up to her to decide.
“Dear, what would you like to drink now?”
She pointed to the Menu, where the drinks all had alcohol percentages in the single digits—low enough to feel like a beverage.
Given Jiang Lai’s tolerance, these would give him a little break.
Jiang Lai knew that if he ordered something stronger, Xu Ruobing would get mad.
Besides, she seemed a bit drunk herself.
Although his body felt fine, his flushed face betrayed him, burning uncomfortably.
The alcohol even made him feel a faint heat.
Outside, Jiang Lai was almost always bundled up tightly, but in this Private Room, he had already taken off his outer down jacket, even undoing a few buttons of his shirt, revealing a hint of his alluring chest.
Feeling the urgent need to cool down, Jiang Lai hesitated before finally ordering a low-alcohol Cocktail with several Ice Cream Balls on top—perfect to cool off with.
“Ice Cream, huh…”
Xu Ruobing watched Jiang Lai point at the drink with interest and couldn’t help but straighten her back.
Ice cream reminded her of some delicious and visually stunning ideas.
Sometimes Xu Ruobing really thought she needed a brain wash.
Clearly, this was the time to comfort Jiang Lai, yet her mind was filled with all sorts of random thoughts.
Blushing slightly, she hid her face behind the bar’s Menu.
“I’ll order it for you now… just wait a bit~”
About ten minutes later, Xu Ruobing came back into the Private Room carrying a tray.
As a big star, aside from acting, she rarely took care of others like this.
With Jiang Lai, however, Xu Ruobing poured all her tenderness into him.
“The cocktails here are all very good—looking exquisite and beautiful.”
If it weren’t for the women-only rule, this bar would be even more bustling than expected.
Seeing Jiang Lai sitting obediently on the sofa, a teasing idea popped into Xu Ruobing’s mind.
She deliberately put on a very proper tone and gave Jiang Lai a slight bow. “Miss, your drink has arrived~ Please enjoy it soon.”
She placed a high-stemmed glass in front of Jiang Lai.
Inside was a gradient drink—vivid cherry red at the bottom, fading to a lovely pink at the top.
Resting on the ice were three Ice Cream Balls of different colors.
“Even though it’s just a sip, you should drink it slowly.”
Looking at the cocktail that was practically a work of art, Jiang Lai understood why it was so expensive.
If he weren’t in such a mood, he might have wanted to take pictures.
Carefully holding the glass, Jiang Lai observed it thoughtfully, wondering how to drink it.
Was there a straw? With the Ice Cream Balls on top, how was he supposed to drink this?
While Jiang Lai hesitated, he noticed Xu Ruobing watching him intently, her expression unusually serious and focused.
He felt like a judge, and Xu Ruobing was the Mixologist awaiting his verdict.
Feeling shy under her gaze, Jiang Lai quickly lifted the glass.
The cold rim touched his lips, and immediately, the melting Ice Cream slipped uncontrollably, tumbling down onto his face.
Quick on his feet, Jiang Lai adjusted the glass, but the Ice Cream Ball, already sliding off, landed squarely on his chest.
“Could you help me get some tissues?”
Jiang Lai looked utterly embarrassed.
The Ice Cream Ball melting on his chest slowly spread, adding a touch of sweetness to his pale skin.
Sticky and unpleasant.
The small scoop of Ice Cream was cooling and melting slowly on his chest, dripping down his skin.
He had to keep a poised, upright posture to stop it from dripping and staining his clothes.
“Oh, such a clumsy moment!”
Xu Ruobing grabbed some tissues she had brought and wiped the Ice Cream Ball off Jiang Lai’s chest.
But the sweet melted residue still lingered.
What should be done about this?
While Jiang Lai silently waited for Xu Ruobing to dry it, a cold touch grazed his cheek again.
Xu Ruobing’s five fingers rested lightly on his face and slowly moved to his chin, lifting it up a little.
“That’s such a waste, you know? I heard the Mixologist say each Ice Cream Ball costs at least a hundred.”
Hearing this, Jiang Lai thought the Mixologist must be joking.
The entire cocktail cost only a few dozen yuan—how could the Ice Cream Balls be so expensive?
“Why so expensive?”
Before he could think further, a soft, moist sensation came from his chest.
Xu Ruobing leaned in, her rosy tongue flicking at his skin, licking up the remaining Ice Cream. “We can’t waste this…”
