“Mmm~”
Still groggy, I rubbed my eyes and slowly looked around.
Is it already morning? Waking up naturally feels really comfortable~
It seemed like someone noticed I was awake, because a voice soon reached my ear.
“Awake?”
Following the voice, I saw Haruka Shirakawa sitting right beside me, holding her phone and smiling as she looked at me.
I smiled back at her and slowly sat up.
“Hehe, you’re awake, get up first.”
But before I could get out of bed, the sound of the door opening came from outside.
This puzzled me. The only people who have the key to my rented room besides me are Xu Liya, the landlord’s daughter. Could it be that Xu Liya came looking for me at this hour?
Soon, the door opened, but the person wasn’t Xu Liya—it was… my sister, Guiyue?!
“Gui… Guiyue?! W-why are you here?”
I stared in shock at Guiyue standing in the doorway, holding a big bag in both hands, smiling brightly at me.
“Hehe, I figured since you’re on break, you’d probably slack off, so I came early thinking of making breakfast for you and stuff. Didn’t expect there to be a traffic jam this morning, so I’m just getting here now.”
After speaking, Guiyue glanced around my room, but for some reason, when her gaze landed on Haruka Shirakawa, the smile on her face suddenly froze.
“Hey, sis? Why is there another girl in your room?”
Under Guiyue’s piercing gaze, Haruka’s small frame trembled suddenly, like a frightened little kitten.
Then, she cast a pitiful look toward me, seemingly asking for help.
Seeing this, I hurriedly explained to Guiyue, “N-no, it’s nothing. She’s Haruka Shirakawa. Like me, she was reborn as a girl. And last night, well… um…”
I felt a little embarrassed to admit that the two of us were scared to sleep alone, so I quickly made up an excuse.
“We just played hard last night, so we both crashed here to sleep.”
“Is that so? If you say she’s Haruka Shirakawa, then it should be fine, but you hesitated for a long time when you said you slept together because you were tired~”
“Ugh!!!”
Realizing my lie had been exposed, I tensed up immediately.
“Alright, I’m just asking. Why are you so scared, sis?”
Guiyue smiled naturally again and slowly stepped into my rented room, casually closing the door behind her and setting down the things she was holding.
Y-yeah, Guiyue was just casually asking; why was I so nervous?
Even if she really caught me bringing a girl home, she wouldn’t do anything—after all, we’re siblings with an absolutely normal relationship.
But it looked like she had figured out the second half of my sentence was a lie, though I couldn’t blame her…
As a tough guy, telling my own sister that I teamed up with a friend because I was scared to sleep alone is super embarrassing.
And even though Guiyue had seen through me, why did I still feel so guilty?
Lastly, I don’t know why, but earlier when Guiyue was smiling the whole time, she gave off a strangely scary vibe.
It must be my imagination—after all, as my sister whom I had watched grow up from being my little brother to now my little sister, I know what she’s thinking.
Well, no use overthinking it.
My sister came early to make breakfast for me—that’s a privilege I never had even when I was an older brother before rebirth, so I should be happy.
“Alright, sis, get up quickly. I really was just asking casually earlier, so don’t take it too seriously.
Oh, and the breakfast I brought you today is dumplings. I also brought ingredients for lunch and dinner.”
Guiyue opened the bag filled with groceries, showing all the ingredients in front of me.
“Ah, wow, so much.”
Although I tried to show a happy expression, what really caught my attention was why she emphasized again that she was just asking casually.
“It’s all your favorite foods. Now get up, sis, I’ll start making breakfast, and it should be about done by the time you finish washing up.”
“Um, c-can I still stay here?”
Haruka Shirakawa asked weakly, still apparently shaken by Guiyue’s earlier attitude, not daring to even lift her head.
Facing Haruka’s question, Guiyue frowned slightly, then looked at me, seemingly asking for my opinion.
Since the final say was mine, I definitely wouldn’t do something like kicking out my bro as soon as my sister arrived.
Seeing the little purple-haired girl was still scared, I slowly put my arm around her shoulders, just like before.
“Let’s just have breakfast together here. It’d be troublesome if you cooked alone.”
“U-um.”
The purple-haired little girl nodded, still seeming a little uneasy.
But seeing Haruka and me hugging, Guiyue showed a displeased expression once again.
“Sis, I think you should separate from her. Don’t hug like that. You used to be boys, and now that you’re both girls, it feels weird being so close.”
I, however, didn’t mind and patted her shoulder before closing my eyes and lightly patting my chest.
“What’s wrong with that? When we were boys, we often hugged like this too…”
“Ahhhh! P-please… please don’t look at me like that!”
Feeling Haruka tremble beside me, I quickly opened my eyes and looked at the two of them in confusion.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I just looked the wrong way earlier, thought there was something on her face, so I accidentally gave her a weird look. Hehe~”
After saying this, Guiyue scratched her head and gave a silly smile.
So cute, no wonder she’s my little sister.
Haruka, after freezing for several seconds, hurriedly nodded in agreement.
“N-no, no, that’s right! I felt like there was something on my face just now, so please don’t mind it.
And also, I think your sister makes a good point.
Even though it was fine when we were boys being close like this, now that we’re girls, it feels a little weird…
It makes me… uncomfortable. C-can you let go of me, Guiye?”
The purple-haired little girl’s voice seemed to tremble, making me feel uneasy.
She didn’t react this way last night when we slept together, though.
But since she said it, I had no choice but to let go.
“That’s better, you’re being obedient now.
If sis didn’t listen, things could get out of control easily~”
Guiyue looked at me with an inscrutable smile on her face.
