“That… Little Shuangxue, let me explain…”
She let out an awkward laugh, meeting Lin Shuangxue’s calm, emotionless eyes, and immediately deflated.
“Fine, I did hold her hand,” she said, hanging her head dejectedly. “But it has nothing to do with… um, I still don’t know her name. Anyway, it’s not her fault.”
This actually surprised Lin Shuangxue. She had expected the little one to try to shift the blame.
‘Hmm, she really is different.’
But…
‘If you don’t even know her name, why would you hold her hand?’
‘Why…’
“You’re angry.” Lin Shuangxue stated flatly.
“No, I’m not…”
“You used ‘I.’”
“That’s just a verbal tic. What does it prove? Anyway, aren’t you angry?”
The girl stole a glance at Lin Shuangxue from the corner of her eye. Due to the angle, she could only see the lower half of the other woman’s face.
Lin Shuangxue had unexpectedly put on lipstick today. Her lips were usually light in color, but now they were painted a slightly brighter shade of pale red. She had also tied her hair up in a ponytail, a rare style, revealing her long, fair, and slender neck.
Suddenly, Lin Shuangxue stepped forward. Jiang Cheng, who had been staring at her, involuntarily backed up half a step, bumping into the wall and forced to stop.
The distance closed.
Lin Shuangxue’s presence pressed down on her. Now, Jiang Cheng couldn’t see the other woman’s face at all—her vision was completely blocked by the mature woman’s chest pushing against her clothes.
Maybe because the sunlight was too strong, Lin Shuangxue had taken off her blazer, leaving only a button-up fitted shirt that perfectly outlined her waistline.
The shirt was sheer. The girl felt like she could almost see through it the deadly allure she hadn’t been able to make out last night in the dark.
Gulp—
Jiang Cheng swallowed instinctively, her heart pounding uncontrollably.
‘How can Lin Shuangxue be so good at this!’ she screamed inwardly. ‘She definitely got advice from an expert! There’s no way her wooden head could dress up like this on her own!’
“Do you think I’m angry?”
Her voice cut through the girl’s pink fantasies.
“Uh, uh… I think… Little Shuangxue must be really angry, right?”
The girl replied cautiously.
No sooner had she spoken than she felt something pinch her chin and lift it gently.
And so, without any resistance, Jiang Cheng found herself pinned against the wall in a “woman, you’ve caught my attention” pose.
“You guessed right. I am very angry.”
She said calmly, then took another step forward.
Thud—
“Whoa!”
Lin Shuangxue’s unreasonable charge knocked Jiang Cheng straight into the door. Her head hit the door panel hard as she instinctively leaned back, and she let out a pained cry.
But she couldn’t care about the pain, because the immediate threat was right there—literally!
“Jiang Cheng… why?” Lin Shuangxue lowered her head, pressing her forehead against Jiang Cheng’s. Her cold, narrow eyes stared intently into the girl’s. “Why do you always have to find others?”
The girl could feel the other woman’s hot breath, burning her so much that her body went weak, and she dared not move.
“Isn’t what I give you enough?”
Lin Shuangxue said softly.
“Or is there something they have that I can’t give you?”
“Little Shuangxue… I… I don’t understand…”
Jiang Cheng forced a smile.
“We’re good friends, aren’t we? Good friends can’t stop each other from making other friends…”
“…”
The sudden silence was so long and oppressive that Jiang Cheng instinctively held her breath, slowing her breathing.
Just before she could become the first human to suffocate herself from holding her breath, Lin Shuangxue released her chin, turned without hesitation, and walked toward her desk.
“Get ready,” she said. “We’re going out in a bit.”
The pressure on her body suddenly lifted, and Jiang Cheng immediately started gasping for air. Only then did she realize she was soaked in sweat.
Leaning on her knees, her legs felt weak, but there was a faint, barely noticeable smugness on her face.
‘Just you wait, Lin Shuangxue. You’re still a long way off from seeing my special CG!’
‘Heh, even if you look calm, I know you’re flustered. Otherwise, why would you say “get ready”? I just got here—what is there to get ready for?’
“Catch.”
Suddenly, a shadow flew toward her. Jiang Cheng fumbled and caught it.
“Put this on. I don’t want you coughing and bothering everyone at home.”
Jiang Cheng paused. Ignoring Lin Shuangxue’s “It’s not like I care about you” line, she looked down at the bag in her hands.
Inside was a shirt identical to the one Lin Shuangxue was wearing, neatly folded. There was no tag on the collar, but there was still a cardboard insert inside.
It looked like a brand-new, unworn piece of clothing.
An Xin: ‘Yeah, unworn~’
But… why would Lin Shuangxue have a set of clothes prepared in her office?
An Xin: ‘Yeah, why?’
‘It can’t be that she knew I’d be drenched in sweat in advance…’
An Xin: ‘Yeah, impossible, right?’
Jiang Cheng thought for a moment and finally decided to comply.
She sneaked a glance at Lin Shuangxue, who was sitting at the desk with her head down, scribbling away at something that looked very professional, completely ignoring her.
Jiang Cheng was sure this was some lesbian trick, so she chose to leave and change in the restroom.
“What, are you ready?”
The moment Jiang Cheng’s hand touched the door handle, Lin Shuangxue’s voice came from across the room.
“No, no… not yet…”
Jiang Cheng gave an awkward laugh.
‘You’re not even working on those documents! You’re totally spying on me, aren’t you!’ she roared inwardly.
‘So, what do I do? Change here? Or forget it?’
‘If I don’t change, I’ll definitely be punished…’
Jiang Cheng hesitated, then steeled herself.
‘We’re both girls anyway. What’s there to be afraid of!’
‘Who knows who’ll end up losing more!’
She quickly tore open the packaging, pulled out the shirt, grabbed the hem of her current top with one hand, and yanked it off, tossing the sweat-soaked shirt onto the sofa.
She didn’t bother with her underwear. Jiang Cheng clumsily slipped into the oversized shirt and started buttoning it up with her back to Lin Shuangxue.
Lin Shuangxue was a full 5’9”, so the shirt was tight on her. But on Jiang Cheng, the sleeves hung down so that only her fingertips could barely poke out.
She had to button the top button to keep the shirt from slipping off.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng looked like a little girl wearing her father’s clothes—a bit comical, with the hem covering half her thighs, easily serving as a dress.
But, truth be told, it was pretty comfortable to wear like this, and it made her look even cuter.
“Are you done changing?”
“Eek!” The sudden voice after a long silence startled Jiang Cheng. “You-you-you… when did you get next to me! How come there wasn’t any sound! Are you a ghost?”
“Let’s go.”
“But my clothes! I haven’t grabbed my clothes yet…”
“We’ll deal with it when we get back.”
“Th-then… fine…”
Not daring to defy Lin Shuangxue’s will, the girl twisted the door open and walked out.
“Where are… we going?”
“To the cinema,” Lin Shuangxue said.
“A private theater.”
