Sitting in the back seat of the car, Ning Wan felt dizzy.
She had drunk a bit too much, to the point of nausea.
The engine started, and amidst the hum, she leaned against the window, her blurred vision revealing a figure on the glass that resembled her about eighty percent.
“………”
Ning Wan reached out her hand, gently tracing the car window.
The silhouette on the glass overlapped with the image of that detestable other woman in her memory.
“Who is that woman…?”
In her mind, the image of Lu Weizhu and Bai Yun’s hands clasped together appeared.
Ning Wan was not a generous person; she hated sharing what belonged to her—whether it was her lover or her newly acquired toy.
“Who?”
From the driver’s seat, Bai Lu turned her head.
“Nothing. Xiao Bai, just drive. I have a headache.”
Supporting her forehead, Ning Wan flopped back without any care for her appearance.
“……”
Bai Lu let out an almost imperceptible sigh.
Ning Wan was always so carefree and reckless.
Pressing the accelerator, the car began to move slowly.
Closing her eyes silently, the image in her mind refused to fade, and Ning Wan pressed her lips tight.
“This is so frustrating…”
“What’s wrong? Who upset you this time?”
“That damned other woman.”
Ning Wan pouted.
“Seriously, what right does she have to stand so openly in front of us……………..”
She grumbled, and as she recalled those two hands intertwined, her anger grew.
People tend to be impulsive when drunk.
Perhaps if she were sober, Ning Wan wouldn’t think too much about it, but in her drunken state, she just wanted to give that woman a harsh lesson.
Hearing Ning Wan’s complaints, Bai Lu unconsciously clenched the steering wheel tighter.
That other woman…
Bai Lu knew exactly who was more at fault here.
She guessed Ning Wan understood it too, but to protect her lover’s pride, Ning Wan pushed the greater blame onto the poor substitute.
“Hic…No, Xiao Bai, stop the car, I can’t take it anymore. I have to find that woman, ha…how can she be so arrogant? I have to teach her a proper lesson…”
Ning Wan propped herself up on the seat, drowsily trying to get up.
“No, you’re drunk…besides, she’s not really arrogant, is she?”
Bai Lu felt increasingly guilty.
She really didn’t want Ning Wan to go after Lu Weizhu.
She knew how formidable her girlfriend’s fighting skills were.
“…Hmm? Ah…Xiao Bai, are you defending her?”
During the conversation, Ning Wan had already sat up.
“Hah? No way.”
Bai Lu shook her head.
“I don’t care, you’re definitely speaking up for her. Ugh…do you not love me anymore? Let me out. I want to get out.”
Ning Wan pounded on the car door, the thuds echoing inside.
She was thoroughly drunk and had started throwing a tantrum.
In the rearview mirror, the blush on Ning Wan’s face was clearly visible.
“How could that be? We grew up together. I only love you. It’s just so late, and you’re drunk. Please go home and rest, okay?”
Bai Lu tried her best to soothe Ning Wan softly from the front seat.
“Ugh! I don’t care, I don’t care! I’m going after that little bastard. Take me to her.”
She had already started banging her head against the driver’s seat.
Feeling the jostling from behind, Bai Lu’s headache deepened along with her helplessness.
“………”
With a sigh, she finally turned the car around.
On the other side, Bai Yun and Lu Weizhu were walking back to the hospital together.
Passing by a convenience store, Lu Weizhu bought a vase.
“Why buy that?”
After so many disappointments tonight, Bai Yun was in a sour mood.
“To hold the flowers Yun-jiejie gave me. Without a vase, they’d wilt too quickly.”
Lu Weizhu answered without hesitation.
She treasured the gift she had received.
“…Let me carry it for you.”
Her mood slightly improved, Bai Yun held Lu Weizhu’s hand with one hand and carried the delicate yet inexpensive vase in the other.
She thought to herself that from now on, she couldn’t touch any sensitive topics anymore, at least not until the girl trusted her more.
Bai Yun was a little frightened inside; she worried that her probing questions tonight might have caused resentment.
Fortunately, hearing Lu Weizhu’s opinion about the gift gave her some reassurance.
When she brought Lu Weizhu back to the hospital, Lu Weiyu was already sound asleep.
After filling the vase with water and carefully placing each rose inside, she saw Lu Weizhu off at the entrance of the apartment building.
“Yun-jie, goodbye.”
At the doorway, Lu Weizhu smiled and said farewell to Bai Yun.
Her smile wasn’t particularly sweet—after all, tonight’s experience hadn’t been pleasant.
First, she realized Bai Yun might have feelings for her, then she accidentally bumped into those two annoying sugar daddies.
No matter how she thought about it, there was no reason for Lu Weizhu to feel happy.
“Mm, Wei Yu, goodbye. Remember to come visit the café when you have time.”
Waving her hand as she said goodbye to Lu Weizhu, Bai Yun felt reluctant to part.
She wanted to spend more time with her, to hold her hand a little longer.
Imagining future moments with Lu Weizhu, Bai Yun walked away slowly.
In the car parked around the corner, Bai Lu and Ning Wan watched their parting from afar.
“Heh…Lu Weizhu definitely has something going on with that woman.”
Leaning against the window, Ning Wan ground her teeth in hatred.
Bai Lu wasn’t as manic as a drunk Ning Wan, but she was also displeased and didn’t want her lover getting too close to anyone else.
“She’s right there. Go find her if you want.”
Her voice muffled, Bai Lu closed her eyes.
She felt guilty. Knowing full well how Ning Wan would treat Lu Weizhu, she still brought her along.
There was guilt deep down, but clearly, it paled in comparison to how much she valued Ning Wan.
At least for now, it was that way.
Bai Lu turned off the engine and rested her head on the steering wheel.
“Sigh…”
Standing at the stairwell entrance, watching Bai Yun disappear into the crowd, Lu Weizhu sighed.
She walked into the stairwell, counting steps as she climbed.
As she walked, heavy footsteps not her own echoed in her ears.
She turned to look down, only to see the dark stairwell below.
This apartment building was much older than others nearby; no lights were on in the hallway, making it difficult for Lu Weizhu to see clearly.
“Probably a neighbor…”
There were obviously more people living in this building besides her.
She shook her head and kept walking.
The heavy footsteps continued, growing closer.
Lu Weizhu didn’t care much at first, until heavy breathing sounded in the hallway, making her uneasy and tense.
“…?”
Turning around again, she still saw nothing.
“Just scaring myself…”
Unconsciously, she arrived at the door of her rented apartment.
She felt in her pocket and found an old set of keys.
Inserting the key into the lock, the footsteps and breathing persisted.
Her left hand trembled involuntarily as she tried twice but failed to unlock the door.
On the third try, with a click, she finally opened the door.
“Phew…”
The heavy breathing was now right outside.
“!?”
Pulling out the key, Lu Weizhu slipped inside the apartment and slammed the door shut.
